Too hot, too noisy

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Our stay was in August and our room was in the lodge above reception. First, the room was too hot. We opened all the windows and left for about 5 hours. Came back, still too hot. Had to leave windows opened. People outside hotel partying till at least 1am. Then the two freight trains came through town with whistles blowing. Gave up and closed the windows. Got hotter. Then a fairly large spread out group of noisy families checked in around 3:30 am through 4am, complete with loud voices, conversions, loud children, people running down the hall. Just miserable.

Nice place, would of been nice if they had AC but being in the mountains it doesn't get too hot year round.

Pros: It's location was great.
Cons: Central air conditioning would be nice.
This was a decent hotel. There were a few things that can be improved. We only found one staircase to the second floor and there was no central air. When we stayed in July it was quite hot.

Lodge View

Posted Aug 5, 2014
Pros: Ideal location as a spring board for sight seeing.
Cons: Not set up to accomodate guests when warm weather arrives.
Location: In Baniff National Park. The lodge is located 4 km from Lake Louise.
Positive(s): Excellent location as a spring board for sight seeing. Very clean, weel maintained. Appreciated the computer available for lodge guests. Challenge: No air conditioning. Had to leave door/window open into evening to receive adequate air exchange.

Good experience.

This hotel is in an excellent position. We dropped off a hire car in town and got the train out and it was easy using this accommodation. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was good.

Mountaineer Lodge

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Great location between Jasper and Banff. Very close to attractions such as Lake Louise. Breakfast included in hotel cost. Hot tub was enjoyed.
Cons: Hotel needs to be renovated to replace older furniture and fixtures. That being said, everything was in reasonable condition.
Stayed one night on way to Jasper and the Columbia Icefields from stay in Banff. Staying at this location gave us an opportunity to explore the Lake Louise area on the way through.

Beautiful environment

Posted Jul 25, 2014
Pros: The situation and is so clean.
Cons: The access to the rooms and the noise
Location: Visit beautiful places (Lake St Louis) and many others nice places
The hotel is beautiful, clean and the personal is nice, but when you reserved the room nobody told you that you have to go up stairs with your luggage (not elevator), and in some rooms the noise of the train (pass at 3:00am and 6:00am) is so loud. The whirlpool and the sauna is good.

Close to amenities

Posted Jul 24, 2014
Pros: The free continental breakfast was good.
Cons: The room did not have air conditioning. There was a fan that helped to cool the room.
Location: The hotel is conveniently close to amenities, across the street from Samson Mall. It is a few minutes drive to Lake Louise or Lake Moraine.
Hotel staff were courteous and there were no problems checking in. The room was clean and the beds were new.
