Generally a nice hotelPosted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: See above comment
Cons: See above comment
Location: Location very nice close to Banff National Park.
I came from Vancouver, booked it online specifically requesting a fireplace. At the front desk at check in I asked again if the room had a fireplace and was told yes, it had three, one in each bedroom and one in the living room. There were no real fireplaces in the entire suite. They were the fake electric light ones. Personally I do not call them fireplaces. A fireplace to me is either a wood burning fireplace or a gas fireplace with "real flames". not an electric light. It reminded me of one of the television channels that you can get at Christmas time show a burning fireplace. A huge disappointment. I believe this borders on false advertising. The rooms were amazing, very comfortable beds and everything was very clean.

Great room in a great location.Posted Sep 30, 2014
Cons: The parking situation is a little tight. Each room gets just 1 space underground and you're usually squeezing in between massive pickup trucks.
Location: Banff National Park, Lake Louise, Icefields Parkway, town of Banff.
Solara met and exceeded all of our expectations. The location is perfect for visitors to Banff who are spending multiple days exploring the area. The hotel is just off the Trans Canada in Canmore and the entrance to Banff is just a few minutes down the highway. The room itself is great for families or couples or anyone who requires more than 1 bedroom. You'll save significantly by staying in a multi-room suite rather than purchasing multiple rooms in a standard hotel. Plus, these rooms are essentially fully-stocked condos with a kitchen (fridge, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, pots/pans, dishes, cutlery, glassware, wine fridge, coffee, tea, etc.), dining area (table for 6), living room (fireplace, cable tv, playstation 3), washer/dryer/ironing board, a deck with a bbq (ours had outdoor dining furniture as well), multiple bedrooms (clean, comfortable beds, with bathrobes, extra pillows, fireplaces, tvs), multiple bathrooms (all of the usual amenities). This is a place you can really settle down for a few days or a few weeks and do some relaxing on your vacation. Plus the kitchen helps you save on food costs by not eating out for every meal and allows you to make a lunch for your day in the Rockies. As an added bonus, we saw more wildlife (moose, elk, bunnies) on or near the resort than we did our entire time in Alberta. There were elk eating the bushes right outside our room one evening. This place is truly a home away from home. Stay here! We'll be back for sure.

Can't wait to come back.Posted Sep 26, 2014
Pros: It is very clean and modern. The balcony and barbecue were great and also the double sided fireplace and two flat screen TVs.
Cons: The lighting was very dim in all the rooms, especially the bathroom.
We absolutely loved our room. We could have stayed for weeks if we had wanted to. The room had everything included. Washer and dryer and barbecue and a full kitchen. The shower was awesome, too. Compared to Banff the price was very reasonable.

Nice Hotel in CanmorePosted Sep 12, 2014
Pros: Nice decor and cleanliness.
Location: It was at the end of Canmore but was about 5 minutes away from Canmore main strip. Easy access to highway to Banff!
This was a good hotel for a last minute booking. The place was fantastic! Great stay at the hotel! Loved it and would definitely go back!

All you need right therePosted Aug 27, 2014
Location: there is a save on foods nearby, hope we knew that earlier!
It was really good. I totally recommend it to those who need a rest at home in the middle of days of traveling. We were two families traveling together with an infant each. We took a really good rest at this hotel. We had a home cooked dinner, surprisingly the hotel had everything we needed for cooking and making ourselves a home, even a wine cellar! We did all our laundry, there was a grill for barbeque, and a really luxurious yet cozy bedroom. I am absolutely going back!

Really nice resort in the mountainsPosted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: We loved the view, and the shower. It was decorated very nicely.
Cons: There was way to much heat in the P3 elevator lobby.and smell coming from hydraulics in bow lodge.
Location: Close to a national park, so lots to do.
We stayed 2 nights, all amenities were close by, staff were very friendly, room was very comfortable. Would definitely recommend to friends. We did find cheerios behind the bedroom door, that had been there for awhile, so left note for housekeeping and was cleaned the next day. Also asked for extra sugar for coffee, on that same note, and we received none. This was a bit disappointing, considering the price per night, but will definitely stay again.

Great condo / hotel close to downtown CanmorePosted Aug 21, 2014
Stayed at the Solara Resort and Spa with my 4 kids on a recent trip to Canmore. We had some delay getting checked in because our room wasn't cleaned yet. But the second time we stopped in to see if it was ready the front desk girl did some switching and upgraded us to the bigger suite with no extra charge. Hotels don't make a great trip, but a bad experience can put a damper on what could be a great trip. And the kids, ages 14-7 all loved the room. Was very impressed with the hotel staffs willingness to make sure we enjoyed our stay, and help us have a positive stay even though we were 3 hours late getting into the hotel on day 1.Highly recommend larger families to stay in one of the 2 bedroom suites, and that has everything your house does as far as a full kitchen and BBQ on the deck. We didn't eat every meal there by any stretch, but did save Dad a few dollars by not having to eat out every meal 3 times a day. My 7 and 9 year old were disappointed by the pool. Knew from the pictures its wasn't a big pool, but if you have kids that live in the water like my youngest 2 the wading pool and play area was fun for about 30 minutes and then they were bored. For youngers kids yet it would be perfect. As far as being in heart of the Canadian Rockies, and being able to experience that and everything Canmore has to offer, it was a great hotel and will stay there again my next trip that way. And Banff, Kanaskis and Lake Louise all a short drive away.
