Consistently a nice place to stay

Posted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: Location. Décor. Staff. Pet policy.
Cons: The master bedroom has the smaller bed and less luxurious shower than the main bathroom. Wish larger bed/better shower were together in the ensuite.
Location: It is located walking distance to shopping in Canmore but far enough away from the train and highway. Check out the Iron Goat restaurant in Canmore!
We have stayed at Solara on one other occasion. We travel with our small dog and we find that it is a very convenient place to hang out when we head to the mountains. The front desk will lend out Playstation games (they have a console in the rooms) but they have a very limited amount so I suggest that you bring your own from home. We wish that Solara had an outdoor pool or hot tub - but we end up going to the Banff Hot Springs anyways so it isn't really a big deal that they don't. We love the décor of the rooms - cork floors, granite or cement counters, high end appliances - and the patio area to enjoy outside of each room. We will stay at Solara again!

Good but could be great

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: The decor
Cons: Noise level and supplies
Location: Elevation place for swimming and climbing. We did some geocaching.
We requested a non ground floor two bedroom suite as last year we had a very noisy family above us. We were given a ground floor suite once again and had jumping overhead all weekend. The suite is beautiful but we had to phone down for sheets and blankets for pull out and there weren't any cloths at all in the kitchen and only three mugs but four of other things. Movie theatre was great.

Generally a decent condo rental. Living room furniture was industrial strength uncomfortable but the beds were great. Wireless internet was sporatic. If you need to tap into work from the room best do it early in the morning when the internet usage is down. Kitchen was good. Refrigerator ice machine was disconnected. Minor inconvenience but one none the less. Pool facilities more suited to young kids than teens although the near by recreation center in town is great.

It is nice new facility but walls in one bedroom were dirty and few items in the kitchen were not clean. Bathrooms and beddings were clean. It is sad to see the new place and furniture abused. People should take a pride and privileged to stay in place like this!!! and not to abuse it because it is not there's.

The Garage Door Experience

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Customer service and taking in consideration their request seriously
I booked in advance in this hotel and made especial request to have a great view and high floor. However, I ended up with a ground floor unit in-front of the hotel underground parking door. I was totally annoyed by cars' noises and could't sleep during the night. There is also, no privacy in this unit as all cars pass by you. Also, I requested to change my room and pay the difference if any but no cooperation or understanding as the employe said "we are sold out and next time you can book through us directly not Expedia to match your request". I didn't like the ignorance of their employees. The blinder was broken and requested to fix it but the maintenance guy seems doesn't care as he came and looked at it and said i can't fix it and left. The electric water kittle was not working. This is a horrible place where you could see the yuck things on the basin and the bathroom. In conclusion, I describe this place as money spent on establishing great resort badly maintained and stupidely operated by receptions.

Solara is nice, but there are nicer.

Posted Mar 6, 2015
Pros: The hotel is clean, location is good, and staff were courteous and professional.
Cons: -maintenance -furniture -new beds
Our stay has us for 3 nights in one of our favourite towns for some cross country skiing. First thing we noticed is there were several light bulbs out. Most of these new hotels are so dark, that light bulbs are very much needed. Every day we found more out. We had some changed, and lived with others out. The furniture in the living room is "pleather". Its design made it almost impossible to sit without sliding off the couch and chairs. The beds were so soft that it threw my back out. This is not a cheap hotel. There are so many other options in this price range, we won't likely be back.

Room hot

Posted Feb 21, 2015
Even though we turned down the heat to 16 it was still 24 in the room..had to open the doors to the outside. Only one elevator per building and two carts? Has to let 4 elevators go by because they were full on check out.
