Worst hotelPosted Aug 19, 2014
Cons: The Pub should be closed. The hotel staff member should be well trained.
I stayed in this hotel for one night in August 2014 and my experience was horrible. This is the worst hotel that I have ever experienced among the countless number of hotels that I have stayed in the past 30 years or so. Here is my experience. At 10 pm, suddenly a loud low-pitch noise started to shake my bed and my room. Initially, I thought it was probably caused by loud music playing in downstairs room (my room was on the second floor). I checked and found that the loud noise was from a Pub next to the hotel building. Actually, the Pub is part of the hotel building and is owned by the same hotel management. The Pub was playing extremely loud music. I went to the hotel office, wanting to ask for room change. To my surprise, the office had already been closed at 10pm! I couldn't talk to anyone about the problem! I could not sleep until after 2am when the Pub was finally closed. I had only a few hours sleep that night, which ruined my Banff National Park tour in the days that followed. I spoke to the hotel staff next day who was not even sympathetic. She said that the hotel web already stated that "the hotel cannot be guaranteed to be quiet." Do not select this hotel if you want a quiet resting environment! Do not select this hotel if you do not want your tour to be ruined!!!

Clean but hot as no a/cPosted Aug 7, 2014
The room itself was ok but somewhat dated. Warm summer temps mean an a/c is needed - the one fan didn't cut it, resulting in a sleepless night for most of our family.

Affordable good locationPosted Aug 1, 2014
The hotel was decent and affordable. Location near down town is nice. Recommend getting a creek side room. The restaurant is excellent! Great food and service.

Great location but dated.Posted Aug 1, 2014
Location was great. At end of Main Street so a nice walk to restaurants and shops. Furniture and carpet were dated in rooms which made it seem less clean. Staff were always quick and more than happy to get ice and answer questions. Finding a parking spot was tough in the tiny parking lot since others who came to the bar also parked there.

Avoid this hotel. No AC!!Posted Jul 22, 2014
Staff did not present confidence or comfort in either appearance or manner. The hotel is OLD, the rooms look like they were decorated in the 70s, and I wouldn't be surprised if the bed was from that era too. We had 3 pillows on the queen bed... No additional pillows anywhere in the room. The pillows we did have had hair on it, like maybe the room wasn't properly cleaned after the last occupant? The TV was from the 90s, not that you could hear it anyways as the noise from the bar and nightclub just outside was so loud. The bed was uncomfortable, and the shower almost falling apart. We had several friends staying in the hotel in other rooms, and they were all in a similar condition, even the more expensive suits. We chose this hotel primarily for its location, and aren't very picky with hotel choises at all, but seriously, AVOID THIS PLACE!

Convenient location and helpful staffPosted Jul 22, 2014
Located in the middle of canmore the hotel location is very convenient for getting around town and the hotel staff are helpful and friendly. However the location is noisy into the evening due to the drake having a bar / club. This wasn't an issue for us but I wouldn't recommend for families with young children for that reason. The rooms were clean and well maintained but are dated.

if you are looking for vintage this is itPosted Jul 21, 2014
This hotel is in need of major renovation. The bed has seen some better days it was sagging in the middle and the bedding was probably from the 70's. Worse sleep I have had in a hotel ever. The carpet was thin and dirty sticky , not enough plugs for your electronics and if you feel nostalgia for the old tube tv this is you place. One good thing the view was beautifull but you get that anywhere you stay in Canmore.
