Hotel did the job I needed it to do.

Posted Oct 5, 2014
Pros: It was comfortable and homely. The staff were excellent and really helpful, specially with my very heavy suitcase.
Location: It was very convenient to downtown Banff for walking, catching buses etc.
I stayed at the Driftwood 2 weekends either side of horse trek into the mountains with Holiday on Horseback. The hotel was obviously a little elderly and the reception was at the Ptarmigan hotel next door. However it was warm clean and comfortable and had everything I required of a hotel room.

My Driftwood Inn experience

Posted Sep 24, 2014
Pros: We like the location of the Hotel.
Cons: Cooling system in our room.
Location: There are so many attractions in and around Baff. Be sure to get the complimentary Bus Pass and leave your car in the parking lot of the hotel.
The Inn is located in downtown Banff and within walking distance to the restaurants and shopping establishments. The room where we stayed is comfortable enough to spend the night except that the room was hot when we first came in and we have to open the window and turn on the oscillating fan that was provided in the room. We kept the fan on all night while we were sleeping. As far as the cleanliness of the room we did not have any problem. The towels and the bed sheets were all clean and smelled fresh. The Bed cushion is ok and comfortable enough. The staff at the Front Desk (Ptarginan Inn) are very friendly and helped us enjoyed our visit by supplying us with Bus Passes to visit Banff's attractions. Overall our experience is pleasing. It could have been excellent if the room temperature can be controlled without using the fan. I reported this problem during our first day and I was told that they will send their Maintenance man. We were gone so I am not sure if he showed up because the room was still hot when we came back with the thermostat set to lowest possible setting.

Reasonable

Posted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: On the main drag.
Cons: Update the older driftwood inn part.
Location: On the main drag, so lots.
Difficult to find as the name was changed & owned under a new chain/property even though it is advertised as "driftwood inn."

I won't even pay $100.00 for this room!

Posted Aug 27, 2014
The room smells so bad as soon as you walk in. It's really warm inside, and they provided a small electric fan. Which is not what would you expect in a hotel or even an inn.. The bathroom is so old, full of cracks and dirt. The entire stay is terrible! I wouldn't even pay $100 for this room. We traveled 5hrs to get to Banff, so we're really tired so relaxing is the main reason to go to a hotel but I didn't even want to sleep on the bed but I have no choice... I would recommend spending extra dollars to go to a nicer hotel. I only paid $135 (incl gst) but for that room, it's overpriced!

First time for us staying in Banff.

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Room was clean. Bed was comfortable.
Cons: Bigger fan, another lamp. Window fixed. A room further away from common room & stairs.
Location: Hotel close to downtown.
Room 151. Too close to common room, noisy at times. Right beside stairs. People bang their baggage on each step. Room on main floor. Latch on window broken, room not secure. Only one light in main room. Could not read at table at night. No air conditioner, only small fan, which wasn't enough.

Unsatisfactory

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Only the central location - it is close to the town centre and we could walk to restaurants and shops.
Cons: Tear it down!!!
Location: Central, as stated above
No elevator, leaky roof, no air conditioning, no staff on premises. The place is in a state of disrepair, carpets disgusting, rooms hot and smelly, etc. When my roof started leaking (right over the toilet!) the staff at the Ptarmigan Inn next door more or less told me that because I had booked through Expedia that they were unable to do much for me, and I should just wait for the rain to stop!

Driftwood in Rough Shape

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Cons: The hotel is in very poor condition - we were told it is being closed and torn down with other pieces on the property to make a new facility.
The place was very old, very hard to find from the main strip and the interior was a disaster.

Pros: The feather top mattress cover was comfortable.
Cons: It's dusty.
You get what you pay for. Nothing was terrible, it was exactly what I expected.
