Beautiful historic property

Posted Sep 25, 2014
Our initial experience wasn't great. We had reserved a king bed and arrived in our room to find that the room itself was roughly the size of a king bed, had a queen size bed and a tiny bathroom no larger than a closet. We inquired and were told that because we booked through Expedia there was nothing they could do but they offered to move us to another queen room the following night. Our original room was on the 2nd floor and had a few of a pipe. The TV was mounted on a side wall so we had to lay sideways on the bed to watch it. The following day we were moved to a room on the 8th floor with a huge bathroom. The room was still small but it was a huge improvement over the first room. Even though it had a queen bed, we never would have complained of we had been placed in that room from the start. It was really lovely. The staff were wonderful throughout and gratuities are not accepted. The breakfast buffet is quite spendy but delicious with a huge array of options. The hotel has a beautiful spa and large workout facility.

Room

Posted Sep 14, 2014
Pros: It's an amazing place for a once in a life time stay. The grounds and scenery are beautifully kept.
Cons: Can't think of anything, other than our bad experience. This room should never have been booked to anyone when repairs were required.
Location: Lots to do at the hotel if you want to spend the money. Within walking distance to Banff town a car required to visit various attractions in the park
We had a gift certificate to use (a retirement gift) and couldn't use it because we booked through Expedia and the cost is charged direct to our charge card. Lesson learned. The room was right beside the large air conditioning units, so we couldn't leave the window open in the evening. The bathroom wash hand basin was very badly cracked, and the faucet top came off when my husband turned the water on. Fortunately it just required some tightening up. We pointed out our displeasure when checking out, and did get a free breakfast.

Brilliant!

Pros: All the tiny, surprising details, that were there to enhance our experience, from the binoculars on the room window ledge, to the umbrella.
Everything was lovelier and more comfortable than expected. The staff was marvelous and extremely personable and the setting was extraordinary. I had shared the room with a friend in from the United States, Albuquerque, New Mexico. She had not ever been to Canada and I wanted to give the poor thing a taste of the high life in one of the most beautiful settings in the world. I succeeded. That was no surprise. Thank you for seeing that all the details were perfect and my personal requests handled in an exemplary manner. Brilliant!

Beautiful Hotel

Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: The experience of the Gold Floor (VIP), the pool and the restaurants. Kids eat for free was a big plus!!!
Cons: A bigger bathroom wouild be nice and I'd change the mattress.
Location: The location is excellent, which is next to the Bow River and not far from the town center.
This hotel is a main attraction in Banff and is very beautiful. We stayed on the 5th floor which is the Gold floor that has it's own reception and lounge with complementary breakfast and orderves. Our room was a good size and had a great view, however the bathroom was small and had a very small closet. Plus, you can easily hear the noise in the hallway. The hotel contains many shops, restaurants and sports facilities. The Spa is superb with pool/hot-tub facilities. The main pool area is quiet large with a lap pool, a baby pool and a heated salt water outdoor pool. The indoor hot tub was nice and hot...loved it. Overall this is a very classy hotel with great facilities and located within walking distance to downtown (via a nice trail along the Bow River).
