Overall, pretty good, but...

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: Location is great if you are looking for a quiet retreat near some good hiking and biking trails and away from the main street.
Cons: Heat control and house services could use improvement.
Location: Location is away from the main street, but a short drive or walk away. Good hiking and biking trails nearby.
Room 167 would be great in the winter, but not so much during the summer! Stayed in a studio with one bed and pull out couch. The bedroom is separated from the living room (pull out couch) by the kitchen. The kitchen was great, well stocked with utensils, small appliances, etc. and had a full size fridge and stove. The bathroom (off the kitchen) was spacious and clean. There are flat screen TVs in the living room and bedroom. That's the good. The bad is the temperature control in this unit. There is a stand alone AC unit (very loud) in the living room area that does an adequate job of cooling the living room and half of the kitchen. The bedroom; however, has no such unit and is sweltering hot. The staff are well aware of this condition and they explained that there is nothing that they could do other than give me an extra fan (yes, the room already comes with one). Apparently, the excessive heat is caused by the fact that there is a mechanical room directly below this unit that creates so much heat that it heats the floor and radiates into the room. They offered for me to switch rooms, but I had already settled in and stocked the fridge and didn't want to have to move everything. The room also didn't have sheets for the pull out bed and room supplies (coffee, shampoo, and soap) were not replenished (I had to go to the front desk to ask for more). Overall, this place was ok and the price was good, and I would still cautiously recommend to friends.

Great place to stay in Banff

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Away from downtown Banff which was packed with people (July 2014)
Cons: Parking in really tight but because of setting in the mountains, don't believe there is anything that could be done to change this.
Location: Lake Louise is not far away but really just a tourist trap. We went to the Columbia Icefields about 3 hours away. Really enjoyed that.
We spent two nights at this location. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Facility has great character.

Had a remodeled room. Ask for air conditioning. Not all rooms are equipped with A/C.

Close to Banff Town. Quite and friendly staffs.

Posted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: Convenient, indoor swimming pool, quite, easy to drive back.
Cons: Change the bed sheet and towels.
Location: Banff Town, Some view points closeby.
The overall experience is fair. I booked 3 month in advance so the price is ok. But the bed sheet looks old and a bit dirty.

Better Housekeeping

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Location, peaceful
Cons: more attention by housekeeping on providing new towels and toletries.
Location: A little out of the downtown bustle and hustle which can be good or bad depending on whether you wanted to be right in busy Banff
Stayed for two nights. Unfortunately, I soiled the bed sheets and duvet cover badly, so the housekeeping had to change the sheets and cover for the entire bed. They did a fantastic job with that. However, they did not replace any of the towels, no toiletries replacement and left the towels hanging exactly where there were. Also, there was a dead spider on the side of the tub from the first day and they did not bother to clean it off. Somewhat disgusting. Also, a plastic ice bag left in the sink from the first day was just left in the sink and not discarded. Other than that, the facility was excellent. Very friendly and knowledgable front desk staff and the loocation was ideal and peaceful.

Great view, great price

Posted Jul 3, 2014
We stayed in the 1 bedroom with kitchen and loved our room and the view of Rundle was fantastic. The air tub was a nice addition as well! A bit outdated but that didn't bother us as it was very clean. The pull out bed was horrendous...very uneven...we had to just put the mattress right on the floor each night which solved the problem but a bit inconvenient. The main bed was very firm. I didn't mind it but my husband hated it. They provide coffee but no filters...we thought that was silly. The use of the BBQ was really great and we took advantage of that a couple times. They aren't very busy so that was nice. The hotel playground is very small and other than having a slide it's pretty boring. The pool was nice and had a nice view. We didn't venture to the bigger hot tub so I can't comment on that. We really enjoyed our stay BUT the people above us were VERY loud. Each night when they returned from the bar they woke us up. No air conditioning meant our windows were open leaving no sound barrier. Even with them closed you could hear everything!!! I called front desk about this and they offered to switch us to a cabin but with a child I wasn't about to repack and uproot her. If it wasn't for the partying above us it would have been a really excellent stay. But being canada day weekend I guess that's what happens. Really enjoyed the location and amenities at the hotel and would return in a heart beat.

Not fancy but amazing value and helpful staff

Posted Jun 23, 2014
For $112/night we had 3 rooms--bedroom, tiny but full-featured kitchen, and living/dining room with mountain-view patio. Yes, the bedroom window was very close to the parking lot and the overpriced firewood was wet and smoked up the place. But otherwise, a wonderful stay and an amazing value.
