“An Excellent Escape in the Heart of Bangkok”
The owners certainly have done everything in their power to give guests a home away from home in a city that is fairly rough. Ariyasomvilla was once a large family residence, owned by the wife of the manager/owner's family, and they have renovated it as one imagines an old mansion might look, from a bygone time of oriental elegance. We rented two rooms, a studio for our son and a larger one for us, and both were lovely with beautiful woodwork and large windows.
There was a nice library, an amazing, delicious vegetarian breakfast (included) with fresh fruit and fabulous coffee and options to eat or drink all day, if desired, on a large patio. We ended every day with a swim in their beautiful pool/jacuzzi.
The only down side is the constant noise from water taxis that scream from dawn until 7:00 p.m. right behind the hotel garden/pool. So hard to get away from traffic in this over-populated metropolis! But if you want a taste of Thailand, rather than a purely Western hotel experience, this is it.
