“Great Hotel for one and all!!!”

Excellent location - a little far from central Bangkok hub - but easily accessible by Bangkok MRT from Ractchadapisek station - about 0.5 Km walk from hotel. One way fare to Sukhumvit station is 27 Thai Bhat about US$1. Can't not get better deal than this. All staff was VERY friendly though with little difficulty in understanding English but please say slowly and clearly when talking to front desk staff. I loved the Hotel's SPA and Thai massage. I did not eat breakfast, but I heard from other guest that the breakfast served at this hotel was very good. There is a Bar and restaurant on the premises. I had spaghetti Bolonese - it was ok, though it did not up to my standard. There is nothing around the Hotel - no restaurant etc Don't forget to visit Chatuchak Market on saturday or sunday - its a open-air flea market - the largest in the world. Wear a hat - very hot and humid. Its about 4 stations from Ratchadapisek station. I also liked Chatuchak Park next to it very green and beautiful. Don't fall into the trap of taxi drivers or other solicitors selling packages outside hotel they are a rip off. Otherwise I just love Bangkok and its people. Its a very safe place to walk even and for women and that too at night as well. You can't do that in NY, Chicago, or LA etc in the US. Good luck and enjoy your stay at ChaoPhya Hotel

“Not impressed!”

When I checked out, the receptionist at the counter order a room check. After15 minutes, I was asked about a pair of missing slippers. I told her that I had no idea what was going on. I did not see or use it. She insisted that it was my responsibility for missing slippers and it cost 200 baht (~USD $6). I was in a hurry and there was a a long line of people behind me. I decided to pay rather than arguing further as she showed no sign of backing down. This is the first time in many years that a holel staff doing room checking on me. On this particular trip, I had been to 8 other 4-5 stars hotels in 4 different countries and there took my words for mini-bar use and no room checking. W/O the slipper incident and receptionist impolite attitude, I would have given an above average rating. Other than that, food in the restuarant is OK and at reasonable price.

“Okay but in a desolate location”

The hotel was fine, and very near the Metro. The staff was efficient but cold, and the location is utterly desolate, it is some sort of showroom area. The restaurants were expensive and indifferent.
