“Discreet bolt hole in trendy Sukhumvit”

Very nice well kept professional hotel in the quiet and leafy Sukhumvit Soi 18. Small enough to be discreet but large enough to have a nice rooftop plunge pool and sunbathing area which gets sun most of the day for a nice cool down between or after work. The gym is also well maintained. Breakfast was okay and the metro cafe serves good Thai and international cuisine later in the day. The rooms are a good size with a good size fridge-freezer and microwave to allow for some basic self catering. There is a small lounge area in the room which was enough to entertain colleagues and guests briefly. The internet was good and easily fast enough for emails, web and skype and allowed 3 devices to connect as standard. Soi 18 is ideally located close to the junction of Sukhumvit and Asoke road and within minutes of Asoke BTS Skytrain and Sukhumvit MRT Metro stations. It is also in easy reach of some of Bangkok's nightlife. I would recommend this hotel especially to business travellers with a little bit of free time.

“Mostly Good”

My 10 day stay at the Oakwood Trilliant was mostly good. The cleaning by the staff was excellent. The very erractic times I left the room each day didn't prove a problem. All the kitchen equipment was of good standard and used for breakfast each day. I never tried the breakfast at the hotel. The free WIFI was excellent 90% of the time and adequate the rest. I could log on every time which in itself in Bangkok is a miracle. The pool was adequate and the deck beds in good condition. I never had a problem in finding one as we were the only ones using the pool each time. I don't understand the reason for the mini golf next to the pool. The footpaths from the hotel to the Asoke Skytrain Station were good, which is unusual in Bangkok and took no more than 10 minutes to reach. There are 2 good thai restaurants across the street and a little bit further a good bakery at the Windsor which have a 40% discount after 5pm. The only problem for me was the bed. Even though my partner liked it, I found it a bit hard.
