“Very clean, nice amenities, good value.”

Pluses - very clean, great gym - restaurant very good, friendly staff, and extremely reasonable room service prices. Beautiful lobby, lounge and dining room. The attached Ananada spa was wonderful and very reasonably priced for "legit" massage and spa treatments. Also loved the free wireless & wired internet throughout the hotel. I found this hotel to be a very good value. My rate included round trip airport pickup and breakfast daily. I had a beautiful one bedroom apt with 42" plasma TV / DVD player, and a great bathroom for a very reasonable rate. President Solitaire is in more typical Bangkok neighborhood than the expensive tourist properties on the river. Minuses - it's a bit of a walk to the Skytrain, about three very LONG blocks, but there are always cabs and tuk-tuks outside the hotel 24/7. (Cabs are cheap in Bangkok, but the traffic is horrendous.) Bellstaff a bit pushy with trying to sell tours etc, but eventually took the hint after several firm "No Thank You's." (Like most places in Bangkok they get a commission on tours they sell, so they can be very persistent, though friendly.) Pool is a bit wedged in between skyscrapers, and shaded a good part of the day, but welcome nonetheless. This being the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok there are some seedy bars and massage parlors in the area, as well as very nice restaurants and upscale clubs. I will definitely stay here again when in Bangkok.

“My second stay”

This is my second visit to this hotel. I went last summer and was extremely pleased. When I came back this week, the door man remembered me (and I remembered him) and he greeted me with a warm smile. All of the staff are top notch and give you personalized attention. The rooms are absolutely fabulous. Wood floors, remote lighting, flat screen plasma TV, large bathroom with jaccuzi tub, kitchenette, living room, nice view, orchid flowers, & the best bar soap (gylcerine) in the region (be sure to snag a few bars if you can - LOL). Hotel is walking distance to Sukhomvit (spelling) street with lots of action - depending on what you are looking for; malls, restaraunts, street food, massage, vendors, Arab district, bars, & massive and vibrant street night life. The hotel is comfortably situated just far enough from the noise so that you get a quiets night sleep, but not so far that you can't walk to get to the night life. Staff will take you in the golf cart to save the 10 minute walk. There is a 7/11 about 150 meters away for snacks and what not. Can't say enough about the hotel, it is top notch for the price and will now be my regular hotel in Bangkok during business layovers.

“Very Comfortable”

We spent the first three nights of our trip in Thailand at the President Solitaire. The bed was the best bed we slept in during our 12 night-4 hotel stay. This hotel was also the only hotel we booked before we arrived. Note: it was also our best priced room during our stay. Friends told us to wait and book rooms in Thailand when we arrived. Foreigners (non-Thai)we spoke to on long stay programs told us the only way to get the cheap stay is to book homes not resorts or hotels in advance. Other tourists told us that the prices over all (hotel, food, travel) had tripled since their last stay. Book ahead!

“Home away from home”

I've stayed at the President Solitaire several times now and think of it as my home away from home. The staff are excellent, the accommodation is great, the breakfast buffet is first rate. Flat screen TV, free Wi-fi, what more do you want? The location at the end of Soi 11 is a little distance from the Sukhumvit, which may be a negative for some, but it's still close enough to be convenient to restaurants, the sky train and the night life.

This hotel is very nice, conveniently located, and reasonably priced. My room had a full size fridge freezer, coffee/tea set, and even a small stove if I wanted to cook for myself. They provided free wireless internet, unlike some more expensive places which I've stayed at on business that charged a lot. Their staff is always ready to serve you, and provides service with a smile. They also offer free tuk-tuk service to the light rail station. I was only in Bangkok for a few days, and I'm already thinking of returning back. The only bad thing was that my taxi driver had a hard time finding this hotel, because of similar named hotels in the area.
