Mandarin Oriental is pure luxury, grand ambience and top-notched professional staff. I can wait to visit another Mandarin Oriental on my next holiday. The room, food, spa and staff are 5 stars ++++. It exceeded my expectations and glad I had an opportunity to stay at such an amazing hotel.

Staying here isn't something you'd do lightly. The first modern super luxury hotel by the river to compete with the historic Mandarin, the Shangri-La must have been there for thirty years or so and was conceived in a more exotic age to todays super-sleek hotels. Expect orchids, chandeliers, silk, uniforms, marble, carvings etc etc. Not everyone's taste but it is wonderful in its own way. Super super charming staff, impeccable house keeping, a lovely pool and a club lounge in which half the clients were regulars, and knew the staff as well as each other. A real cherished institution!

Excellent location on river, near Thamassat University, Grand Palace, local shopping and excellent local cuisine.
Delicious breakfast buffet, well-equipped fitness room, adequate pool, generous Happy Hour, very gracious, competent staff.
Very comfortable, clean room and bathroom. Great bed to recover from long travel and jet lag.

We found a peaceful, restored palazzo just a 5-minute, delightful ferry ride from convenient public ferry dock. In the neighborhood across the river from the hotel we found taxis are plentiful and cheap. Also, lots to discover within walking distance. Plenty of streets to explore. It's a totally different world from modern downtown Bangkok where we spent our first two nights. The hotel staff was very accommodating. The bed was comfortable, hot water plentiful, dining service gracious, and the free, chilled soft drinks in our room were a nice surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay.

We had a superbly wonderful time. The view was amazing, the rooms are small but it has all the amenities. Their turn down service with that special drink was just so special. It's the first hotel I've stayed where they provide dried fruits to our delight. The staff are friendly, helpful & polite. The architecture, design and the overall look was just what I imagined from the website photos!

Water taxis glide against a glittering backdrop of temples and office towers on the modern, yet traditional Bangkok Riverside. Posh hotels offer nightclubs and rooftop dining, while floating restaurants on the Chao Phraya River look out on Wat Arun and the golden spires of The Grand Palace. Visit for Songkran in early-April when Thai New Year revelers flood the streets for a 3-day water fight.
