“Like a bedroom”

I was pleased with the Charles Inn, once I found it, sincer I had to look carefully along the street to find it. The hotel staff was pleasant, the room reminded me of a bedroom I had when I was a kid! The parking lot is sketchy, but servicable and the continental breakfast they offered was first rate. Though located right downtown, the room was quiet. Overall, this is a hotel I would recommend to anyone wanting to be close to Bangor's downtown.

“worst experience ever”

Definitely not elegant or luxurious. Blankets were old, matted and stained. No convenient parking. sink handle came off in our hands. No remote for the TV. It was like like a bad dream. My getaway weekend was ruined because of this awful experience. There were no queen or king beds available and we were put in a room with 2 full beds and a twin bed. The shower curtain was one of those cheap plastic ones with a leopard skin design. Everything smelled old and musty. Definitely not a 2 and a half star, maybe not even a half star.

this was downtown which made it very convenient for us....walking distance to waterfront which was what we wanted...city center where the action is,,,,

“Old and Hot”

The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Bangor, but is very old. Relatively clean, but old and musty. It is in a very old building. There is NO air conditioning in any of the central areas of the hotel - we were there on a 90 degree day/80 degree evening... only one mobile, very small air conditioner in the room window. It was horribly humid and hot in all areas of the hotel, especially the hallways and the elevator!! The bed was old and VERY uncomfortable. The carpets were old and stained. The lock on the back door was broken so anyone could have walked in at any time! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, regardless of its convenient location.

“A fun downtown hotel”

I had read my mixed reviews about this place, and so I entered with hesitation...but was very pleasantly surprised throughout my stay. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable, and the bar downstairs provided a great place to relax with a cold beer and great music. The downtown location was convenient. I just wish the breakfast was more substantial and that internet was available in the rooms, but this certainly isn't enough to stop me from recommending this hotel to anyone looking for a fun, relaxed place to stay in downtown Bangor.

“Only One Problem”

Hotel staff very courteous, and the lobby was nicely decorated. The room was clean and had everything one needed, including wi-fi. I would call the atmosphere of the room quaint. I chose the Inn because of the location. It's located right downtown Bangor, near the bus depot. It was quieter than I expected. There is a train runs through town late at night, and that sound can be distantly heard. I would recommend the Inn, with just one reservation, the bed was exceedingly uncomfortable, hard as planks. The second night I was more used to the beds, but they are still much too firm, If you have any back issues, these beds are not for you.

“Charming”

The hotel overall was nice with a bar downstairs, art to browse, a comfortable charming room, and an array of items served for their continental breakfast. There were some loud guests who did not consider others staying in the hotel one night, but overall a great stay.

“Best hotel in Bangor”

Excellent hotel at a reasonable cost. Initially I was dissapointed to find none of the typical chain hotels was available, and settled on ther Charles Inn since it was the only space available. It is not over fancy, but the Inn has real charm and the staff is incredible.
