“Looking foward to my next visit to The Charles Inn”

Since this hotel has been under recent new management,I have stayed at the Charles Inn on several visits to downtown Bangor,Maine. Enjoyed a very good free continental plus breakfast every morning. The friendly owner is on site and the staff is very pleasant and attentive. My room was neat,clean and comfortable on every visit. There are four restaurants just steps away from the hotel and others within walking distance.The beautiful Penobscot river waterfront is about three blocks from the hotel.

“Charming”

The hotel overall was nice with a bar downstairs, art to browse, a comfortable charming room, and an array of items served for their continental breakfast. There were some loud guests who did not consider others staying in the hotel one night, but overall a great stay.

Outstanding staff! The rooms were spotless, the beds comfortable and the ambiance wonderful. We needed directions sevral times and they were cheerfully supplied and accurate. An easy walk to several good restaurants. Fun shopping in the area.

it was a great price for the location and comfort. service was friendly and courteous. clean room and plenty of room in the room( was not cluttered) will definitely go back for another stay!

“Best hotel in Bangor”

Excellent hotel at a reasonable cost. Initially I was dissapointed to find none of the typical chain hotels was available, and settled on ther Charles Inn since it was the only space available. It is not over fancy, but the Inn has real charm and the staff is incredible.

“Little deaper down”

The internet should not be promoted at this Hotel as there is minimum to no wireless in the room we were in. CABLE was the same.. USA and CNN are the only two channels on the tv.. I understand this is not the reasons we go to a hotel but it is nice to have internet and cable since we are 2009. Besides these two problems everything else were great.

“Local Artists Displays make it like a Museum”

Nice historical hotel that is in a building that is being refurbished. Middle of downtown Bangor. No street parking, but a small parking lot behind the building. I will go back. A great display place for local artists.

“A Cool Place to Stay”

Connie and the staff were extremely helpful, especially since I had special requests of them. The hotel is well conceived, and it is close to good dining of all kinds and entertainment. My business connections were within walking distance or a short drive.

“A nice spot if you want to be downtown”

Although a little hard to find because that part of Broad Street is closed to traffic, forcing you to park "around the corner" while you check in, it's a nice quaint old boutique hotel. There's lots of character there, and check-in is friendly, if a bit unorganized. The rooms are nicely appointed, with a mix of old-school charm and modern conveniences (i.e. the tub/shower was new, while the old-style sink is in a vanity outside the bathroom). The morning continental breakfast is varied enough, and the hotel's location is perfect for attending anything going on in downtown Bangor. There's also a nice Irish pub right across the street.
