“Just ok”
The hotel was old, but well kept. The bed was very uncomfortable, and the television did not work very well. The continental breakfast was ok, but the proprietor's dog was milling about, eating crumbs off the floor and pawing at my leg as I ate. We didn't spend much time there, so it was ok for the price, but I would probably choose another hotel for my next trip.
“Would go back”
Hotel is a quaint artsy hotel, enjoyed atmosphere. Need to put more attention into maintence. Water from the sink was pretty much non-existent, however the showers were great.
“ok”
The hotel was cleaned and the people are friendly but the Inn is old.
“Old and Hot”
The hotel is conveniently located in downtown Bangor, but is very old. Relatively clean, but old and musty. It is in a very old building. There is NO air conditioning in any of the central areas of the hotel - we were there on a 90 degree day/80 degree evening... only one mobile, very small air conditioner in the room window. It was horribly humid and hot in all areas of the hotel, especially the hallways and the elevator!! The bed was old and VERY uncomfortable. The carpets were old and stained. The lock on the back door was broken so anyone could have walked in at any time! I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, regardless of its convenient location.
“Disappointed”
Positives: Friendly staff, clean room, clean bed, lots of hot water. Negatives: Elevator out of order, staff cleaning and vacuuming after 9pm, not enough staff on hand, awkward driving to and driving away from hotel, cable TV out of order, inadquate towels, etc. Overall we were disappointed. We expected more from a hotel that had great literature, great reviews and friendly staff. Making some modest improvements will dramatically improve the overall hotel experience.
“Old and Needs Updating”
This old hotel needs updating to make it more presentable when one first enters it. I had to hunt to find the main desk and the clerk finished her personal phone conversations (twice) while I waited to ask questions and to sign in. Our room had a tv, but only one station worked. The sink (inside the bedroom) had a faucet that was too close to the bowl so it wasn't easy to use. The walls looked like they were freshly painted and it was cleaned well, but the overall effect was ancient. We had one chair for comfort and one kitchen chair at the desk. Our bed was okay if you like rolling into each other. The breakfast was quite good - many choices. The other guests were friendly, which was nice, too. Parking was less than acceptable - we ended up parking on the street by two taverns rather than behind the hotel in a desolate parking lot with a dumpster. We've stayed in many hotels around the world, including old hotels, but this one doesn't match up to expectations.
“Needs Help”
This could be a quaint little hotel, however it would need much work; the carpet is dingy and stained, the drapes in the room were old and falling down, there was no bedspread - only a blanket on top of a sheet. Nothing came out of the hot water tap on the lavatory, and the heat didn't work in the room. Fortunately, I had friends in the area so they rescued me the next morning. My 3 night stay was only 1 - that's one night longer than I should have. In all fairness, I didn't give the manager the opportunity to correct things as I didn't even report the problems - I'm sure he was already aware.
“needs help”
Until there is a major investment and renovation this cute and charming hotel does not have what it takes to be a great place. The buiding is fantastic but a larger scale, sweeping update is needed.
“Great location in town. Expensive for what you get”
My fiance and I visited my cousin for his 21st birthday and the hotel has an excellent location right in the middle of downtown. The hotel itself is very cozy and has a nice entertainment area in the lobby. The room was relatively clean. The reason I gave it a two is that if you can drive 5 minutes down the road there are many other viable options that ran about $40 cheaper and you will get the same quality with more imenities (pools, etc.). But if location is what you're after then you can't beat it.
“worst experience ever”
Definitely not elegant or luxurious. Blankets were old, matted and stained. No convenient parking. sink handle came off in our hands. No remote for the TV. It was like like a bad dream. My getaway weekend was ruined because of this awful experience. There were no queen or king beds available and we were put in a room with 2 full beds and a twin bed. The shower curtain was one of those cheap plastic ones with a leopard skin design. Everything smelled old and musty. Definitely not a 2 and a half star, maybe not even a half star.
