From Baoshan, it's approximately 12 miles (19 kilometers) to the south to Shanghai and 65 miles (105 kilometers) to the southwest to Jiaxing.
Baoshan isn't the only place in this popular region worth experiencing; travelers should also set out to see the unique qualities of the nearby landscapes, towns and cities. While here, consider a trip to the Shanghai International Circuit and Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Plant in Jiading, some 13 miles (21 kilometers) to the east of Baoshan.
Around 12 miles (19 kilometers) to the south of Baoshan is Shanghai, an important regional center and the home of Paramount, Fabric Market and City God Temple. Shanghai Circus World, Jing An Temple and Caohejing Hi-Tech Park are also well-worth checking out while you are in Shanghai.
For a low-cost outdoors activity that will interest the entire family, be sure to head to the region's popular gardens.
If you like the company of travelers of similar interests, Shanghai has plenty of specialized tours such as city walking tours and culinary tours.
One of the most rewarding facets of exploring the world's many cultures is learning languages you are not used to, so why not pick up some basic Mandarin during your vacation. Picking up some useful phrases like "Nǐ yào bú yào gēn wǒ tiàowǔ", or "Would you like todance with me?", can help to make your vacation more memorable. And also "Zhèiwèi xiānsheng huì qīngdān", which means "This gentleman/lady will pay for everything"
When it is time to depart Baoshan, put the lens cap back on your camera, spend your last of your renminbi, and bid Zàijiàn (farewell) to this unique holiday spot.
