Didn't Get The Kitchen I Paid For

Posted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: It was in the right city.
Cons: Communication between Expedia and The Colonial Inn OR The integrity of the desk staff at The Colonial Inn
Location: It's convenient to Mount Desert Island.
I paid Expedia an extra $16/night for a room with a kitchen, but when I arrived around 6 pm on June 19, I was told no rooms with kitchens were available. When I said that I had paid extra for a room with a kitchen, the motel office staff reported that the only information communicated to them from Expedia was a room with two queen beds. I do not know what was communicated from Expedia to The Colonial Inn, but the motel staff did not offer to refund the difference. What was in the room was fine, but I paid extra for a kitchen, and the room I got did not even include a coffee pot. I am out $32, unhappy, and unsure how to proceed. Is there a problem with Expedia's software/communication, or was this a problem at The Colonial Inn? I do not care if my evaluation is posted, but I do care that Expedia knows that The Colonial Inn did not deliver. Further, this unresolved experience leaves me unlikely to use Expedia again.

Alright for a night

Posted May 23, 2014
Pros: The staff
Cons: I believe they are trying to make the hotel better. I understand they are under renovations. There wasn't enough water pressure in the shower and sink
Location: Shopping was close by, Walmart, Home Depot, places to eat. Very spread out area.
I would stay at hotel again for maybe a night, but not an extended stay.

Pros: the fresh paint and new carpeting were nice, the pool was "being repaired" and not open. you can put a bandaid on a broken leg, but it's STILL BROKEN!
Cons: Have the evening woman run the place! she was polite and courteous.
Location: Location is good. Close to Acadia and ocean, but the real draw is Marden's, Reny's and LLBean outlet!
I have stayed here many times over the years, and for the life of me, I don't know why I go back. I heard "new ownership, new management" and thought maybe it got better. NO, it did not. The bed was rock hard, the pillow way too soft, the housekeeper didn't clean my room, the daytime front desk woman was RUDE and almost insulting. She said "they never listen to me" when she called me to the front desk to "clarify" my reservations. 2 clerks were previously in agreement about my complicated reservations, but this woman argued with me, insisting on charging a higher rate. She should have honored the other two clerks judgement. I don't know if she was the owner, but that's NOT how to run a business!

Clean, quiet and I loved the pool

I can really tell there is a new owner because the property is looking amazing. New bed spreads and carpeting, the place smells muuuch better than before because it switched over to smoke free. I couldn't be happier with my stay and I think the price is very reasonable. I would absolutely come back next time. What a difference!

A great hotel for a great rate!

I was really impressed with the new renovations and the rooms were in great shape. The rooms were clean and I could tell the carpeting and bedspreads were new. No more smoke smell either! The manager is a really great guy and I really enjoyed the pool. I will definitely be coming back!

Even better

The place was clean and comfortable. They had new rugs, TVs, freshly panted walls an a very bright and clean feel to the place. Pool and hot tub area was well kept and clean. The new owner has done an amazing job at fixing the hotel up. Truly worth staying at again!

Pros: I won't be returning to your hotel.
Cons: The noise level.
Location: close to Bangor
The room was clean. :-) We were on the ground level and it was very noisy at night. We could hear noises from the room on top. (footsteps, drilling(??) or a machine) It was very annoying!. I didn't sleep very well because of it. You shouldn't say that your offering breakfast because there was only a pot of coffee, 1 of jus and one choice of cereal on a side table. We have to pay extra to use the pool...!

Large room, quiet location, tiny TV

Posted Oct 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
Room was very large and quiet. Had to request maint. to come and turn on heat but he was very prompt. TV was very small. Wanted to work on laptop but no desk lamp which made it very difficult to work. Great location to visit LL Bean flagship store in Freeport and Acadia National Park (although it was closed while we were there).

Barely adequate

Posted Oct 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
The room was grungy and supplies inadequate, especially towels. The place needed a makeover. The staff were pleasant and friendly. That's the best I can say about it.
