“Lives up to its name!”
Beautiful room and gorgeous view. Watched two cruise ships come in the morning as the sun rose. Great accomodations for the price.
“A solid two and a half star place to stay”
If you need top quality to sleep in at night, go up the hill to the Blue Nose Inn and pay "through the nose" - we got what we paid for, a good two and a half star place to sleep at night. As a bonus, the facilities of the top flight Blue Nose Inn (next door) were made available to us and that was an unexpected perk. The Wonder View Inn is just as dated as it's name (like a place named the Pink Flamingo in FL would be), it's hay-day was clearly somewhere back in the 50s but the bed was comfortable and the place was clean. We were a bit surprised to find a sign on the office door directing us to the desk of the Blue Nose to check in. I'm thinking that's what they do after peak season to save a few bucks. A quick drive got us to both downtown and in the National Park. If you're just looking for a good place to sleep, the rates are reasonable.
“Wonder View Inn was Wonderful”
What a wonderful surprise. We booked the room not wanting to be stuck down town and also based on price. What we got was an outstanding room with an unbelievable view of the harbor and islands. The location was great and the local free bus comes to the lobby for pick up to take you to downtown and connections all over the island. We could walk to the local bike shops in town and the entrance to the park is out the back road. The staff was very nice and our room was spotless. We would recommend this place to all who come to Harbor Island for a day or the summer.
“Older, but Clean and Convenient”
A good place to stay. I picked Wonder View for the rate and the closeness to Bar Harbor and a seminar I was attending. The hotel is older and one has to put up with some inconvenience (the only 3 prong electric outlet for recharging the PC is for the hair dryer in the bathroom). But the rooms are clean and the staff helpful. There was some noise from the room next door, but not intrusive. Even if you don't stay here, you have to eat at the Hilltop Restaurant, good food and an excellent view of Bar Harbor!
“Great place for the price”
Although we stayed in a part that was noticibly older, the room was clean and comfortable. The only real thing that bothered me was the golf carts with maintenance men zooming by early in the morning. We had a partial view of the water and the staff was very pleasant. I would stay again, but not on a road side so I can sleep in a little later than 7am.
“A little misleading”
The room we rented said it had a partial view of the ocean when in reality you only had any view of the ocean when the wind blew right and parted the branches of the trees directly outside the room. Other than that the room was clean and comfortable.
“The best view in Bar Harbor!”
We enjoyed everything, the restaurant, our room, the view, the location (close to the town and Acadia Park.
“Gorgeous view of the bay and islands”
The view was absolutely fantastic!! One of the best views on the island. We stayed at the Hillcrest buildings, room # 66 on the second floor and on a clear day (it often fogs out), one can see Bar Island as well as some of the others to the north-east and the pier. To the west, you can also see the top of Cadillac mountain inside Acadia NP. The hotel is a bit old and creaky but otherwise clean and good service overall.
“Great for the price”
We got the room for less than summer price. Had an ocean view and a great lawn we let the dogs run on in front of our room. It was early season so they were not fully open, but it was nice to not feel crowded.
“Don't waste your money!”
Very disappointed in hotel. The only thing going for it was the location, could use Bluenose hotel amenities, which we didn't, and the view was okay. The room smelled musty and mildewy. The unit had not been kept up. Outdated furniture, peeling paint and caulk in bathroom.. The room was WAY overpriced for what you got. The hotel should be in the very low price range. Stay someplace else. Bar Harbor is full of many hotels and inns, but don't include this one in your list
