“Lives up to its name!”
Beautiful room and gorgeous view. Watched two cruise ships come in the morning as the sun rose. Great accomodations for the price.
“A Great Place to Stay”
All the rooms have outside entrances and actually do have a wonderful view of Bar Harbor. It's a great place to stay while touring Acadia National Park.
“What a view from the restaurant”
I was really pleased with the hotel, however I would have liked to have been able to get a room with a better view of the harbor in the selections from Expedia.com. This hotel had several buildings starting at the base of the mountain and working up to the best rooms with a view of the harbor. Not all rooms have a view of the harbor.
Nice hotel; about a 10min walk into downtown Bar Harbor.
“Older, but Clean and Convenient”
A good place to stay. I picked Wonder View for the rate and the closeness to Bar Harbor and a seminar I was attending. The hotel is older and one has to put up with some inconvenience (the only 3 prong electric outlet for recharging the PC is for the hair dryer in the bathroom). But the rooms are clean and the staff helpful. There was some noise from the room next door, but not intrusive. Even if you don't stay here, you have to eat at the Hilltop Restaurant, good food and an excellent view of Bar Harbor!
“very quaint, comfortable hotel”
I loved the location and beautiful wooded landscape and views of Bar Harbor. This hotel is very old world and quaint and feels like going home. I would love to go back.
“Very Decent Deal”
While we'd been to Bar Harbor several times before, this was the first time we were actually staying in a hotel. The first day was foggy (canceled both our whale watch and trip on the Margaret Todd), and we were feeling a little disappointed in this "Wonder View," an ocean front room with no view of the ocean. Once the fog lifted however, we were able to catch a glimpse of Frenchman's Bay. We were on the first level of the hotel, and I get the feeling the view is much improved if you request one of the higher numbered rooms, in the 60's or 70's. Overall a very pleasant place to stay.
“Beautful grounds, comfy rooms, great stay!”
We booked this hotel after searching for a property close to downtown Bar Harbor that wouldn't break the bank, and we were very, very happy with our experience-- with the price and also the completely pleasant environment there. Wonderview is actually a complex of hotel lodging, with a (more expensive) upper house (many rooms with views of the harbor--terrific) and several smaller buildings (where we stayed for a steal (we paid more than this for a property 20 mins further out four years ago!). The dining room and the main check-in lobby both have terrific views that one can enjoy there regardless of where your actual room is located, so even the cheaper rooms feel special. And the fact that there are buses every 15 minutes to take you downtown (3 min ride) or even to multiple spots in Acadia Nat'l Park was absolutely terrific. The whole hotel is a bit older, but it has charm and class (!), and the grounds are huge and beautifully landscaped. B/c the buildings are older, you'll find that there aren't 500 electrical outlets in each room though-- just 3 or 4. We didn't have a problem with this and think most families would not either. Who needs to be plugged in while on vacation in such a beautiful spot. Also, there's wireless internet you can access even while sitting on the grounds in a lawn chair. Really terrific
“Wonder View Inn was Wonderful”
What a wonderful surprise. We booked the room not wanting to be stuck down town and also based on price. What we got was an outstanding room with an unbelievable view of the harbor and islands. The location was great and the local free bus comes to the lobby for pick up to take you to downtown and connections all over the island. We could walk to the local bike shops in town and the entrance to the park is out the back road. The staff was very nice and our room was spotless. We would recommend this place to all who come to Harbor Island for a day or the summer.
Excellent views. Very welcoming atmosphere. Would recommend this hotel to everyone! Will return. Rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Service was great - even a cart to transport us to the restaurant on premises
