Great value, very clean and friendly. Complimentary breakfast was an added bonus albeit the layout was cramped so avoid crowds. Would return. We stayed in the rooms set off from main building - Loved that location! Very pretty.

"Hidden Jewell"
This place is not the easiest to find. You will see the bakery and restaurant sign and that is the place. Check in and out can be a bit awkward as you do this in the bakery. Parking is on the side of the place but it must be entered through the back street. This place is not for the physically challenged. There are about 32 steps from the back parking area and 21 from the street level. The suites are clean and neat. A very nice place to stay.

"Convenient and very economical"
Our little double room was very well-equipped with a firm mattress, ceiling fan wifi, TV, air-con, heating, coffee-maker, good shower and an ice-bucket with access to an ice machine. The room was clean and cheerfully decorated. The only drawback is the proximity to a very busy road, there is traffic noise but otherwise this quaint little family run motel is great; complainers must be spoilt as I do not see how anyone could be dissatisfied at the price.

    Reviews of Belfast Harbor Inn

“We had to stay there on a Sunday night then a week later on a Tuesday night and it was great both nights, my husband had to be in the hospital for those two different nights for tests and I stayed there. Clean, great price for the location, good continental breakfast, quiet, views of the water, nice pool. I could go on and on and we will certainly stay there again hopefully under different circumstances. I was told later that they give a discount to anyone who has someone at the hospital, I should have asked as they had no way of knowing this until I mentioned it in the morning. Super hotel.”

“We stayed for two nights in late June. The staff was very nice and the room was very clean. The bathroom had recent updates. The room was clean and cozy. Overall the hotel was very quiet and we were really happy that we could bring our dog. The best part about this place when traveling with a dog is the huge field between the hotel and the water. Our dog was able to run around in the field and we had easy access to the beach. We were happy to find that there was free Wi-Fi and free continental breakfast as well.”

“We loved the view of the harbor from our room, and found the man at the front desk very helpful when it came to advising on restaurants in the area. We heartily recommend the Angler's Restaurant for a meal of fish and chips (and we were given a complimentary bowl of fried onion rings.) The hotel breakfast was very good too, and plenty of it. Overall the hotel was excellent value and we would certainly stay there again and also recommend to our friends.”

Reviews of The Eagle’s Lodge Motel

“This was a very pleasant stay. Reasonably close to Acadia National Park. Facility not new, but well-maintained. All of the desk personnel were very friendly and extremely helpful. Good restaurants in the area.”

“Motel was a little hard to locate, but we finally figured it out. Motel could use some up- dating, but for the price you couldn't beat it. It was clean, had all the amenities needed, Wi-Fi, breakfast and the staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful. We stayed there in August and if we were back in the area, it would be the first place I would contact.”

“Older hotel, but rooms were very clean and comfortable. Had only intended to stay for two nights while visiting family, but ended up staying there for 5 nights due to a blizzard. The motel staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to handle a 4-year-old and a 7-month-old for 5 days away from home. Very nice.”

    Reviews of Vacationland Inn

“For a reasonable price, the hotel was clean, friendly, and comfortable to stay in. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the hotel was decorated nicely. The hotel itself was rather private, you don't see a ton of people around. We would definitely consider staying here again!”

“We booked a hotel last-minute to attend a concert at the Waterfront, and this worked out great! The rooms are very simple and decked out entirely in pine, contributing to a woodsy-smell/ambiance. The lobby is decorated with moose and bears, snowshoes, and the like. People were very personable and the double-waffle maker was easy to use and produced delicious waffles. The bathrooms are dated, but clean and the datedness gives them a sort of New England charm. Very convenient and short drive to the concert and Hollywood Slots. Worth the $. Would stay here again.”

“We have stayed at various hotels in and around the Maine/Brewer area. Vacationland is certainly a hidden jewel and we WILL definitely be staying there again. The rooms were extremely clean, well decorated, and comfortable. The staff was courteous and most welcoming. The continental breakfast offered was exceptional. We highly recommend making Vacationland a place to stay!!!”

Reviews of Fireside Inn & Suites Bangor

“The hotel is an older building, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and obliging and we enjoyed our stay.”

“This hotel is rated a 2-star but I believe it is better than that. It doesn't have an elevator and the carpet is a little out dated but the rooms were nice. We opened up the room because it was a little stuffy, but all in all it was a good stay. The restaurant which is attached to the hotel had awesome food and was reasonably priced. We took a taxi to Sea Dogs Brewery the raspberry beer was wonderful. We ordered shrimp cocktail and lobster and it was good but we ate at McLaughlins the next day for Lunch and it was spectacular ... this is the place to eat if you want lobster!”

“My wife and I arrived on May 21st, 2012 after spending 8 days in Ireland. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. We loved the "memory foam" mattresses, or at least we thought that was the mattress. It was the best sleep we had in days. The staff were excellent and told us everything we needed to know. There was a fridge and micro-wave in the room. We left the next morning at 6am, to get home, so didn't have breakfast. The hotel was quiet. Friends in Canada recommended the hotel and we were glad they did. The next time we stay in Bangor, we will stay at the Fireside.”

Reviews of Isleview Motel and Cottages

“We got there early and they were nice enough to let us check in. No extra fee. The cottage was better than I expected. Extremely clean. Wonderful sheets and my favorite, a cotton quilt. The mattress was the best I've slept on. Microwave, fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, and nice towels, which ARE NOT white. I felt like I was home. The chairs out front were so comfortable. The best surprise: the restaurant across the street. The lobster roll was incredible. The clam chowder was also off the hook! Lovely owners too! I would love to come back here!”

“Having never been to Maine, we quickly discovered that locally owned motels/cottages are in abundance. Knowing Acadia would be busy, we booked this one ahead of time. While there were some rooms still available in the area, we were lucky we did! This place is very charming, the rooms are VERY clean, and have all necessary items a typical hotel would have. It is not the most modern in decor/design, but that only adds to the charm. The rates are very reasonable for the area. They offer pastries/coffee in the morning, and there's even a grill in the lawn. It is also in close proximity to a couple of lobster pounds. Would definitely recommend for those who want to be slightly removed from the business of Bar Harbor.”

“It was perfect for our family. It was close to Arcadia National Park and Bar Harbor. We were able to grill out and it was a very comfortable cottage.”

    Reviews of Fireside Inn

“This is a clean and nice hotel nearby the ocean. The room is nice and clean with fireplace and massage chair. The bathroom is clean too. The restaurant is excellent!”

“This is an older hotel about to go under new management. They've done some renovations already to the pool, but I imagine they will do quite a few more updates. The setting is absolutely spectacular and I enjoyed a beautiful fall evening sleeping with the windows and door wide open! The hotel staff was welcoming and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again.”

“I couldn't believe our luck in finding this place. Water views from every room, very comfortable beds and bedding, good restaurant and breakfast offerings, and ideal to have a first-floor room where we could walk our dog right out onto the lawn. Can't wait to come back!”

    Reviews of Comfort Inn Ellsworth

“Had a great stay here. Clean room, friendly staff. It was close enough to Bar Harbor and Acadia, and you can save a few bucks over staying in Bar Harbor itself. Would stay here again.”

“It was brief and served the purpose. Like most things in this part of Maine, the inn is simple and gets the job done. The full breakfast was well-stocked, and the service staff was friendly and helpful.”

“Made a spontaneous trip to hike in Acadia National Park and this is a much more affordable option than staying in Bar Harbor. Check-in was prompt and the complimentary breakfast is definitely appreciated. The room was clean and well maintained; all in all, good value and would definitely stay here again.”

Reviews of Colonial Gables Oceanfront Village

“We stayed in the motel rooms and the motel room was very clean, the staff was very helpful, and check in was a breeze. The grounds were very nice, and we took a little walk to the beach on the facilities property. On our way back, we found a little area that had a Ping-Pong table and outdoor chess set. We were very impressed with the cleanliness and location of the hotel for such an affordable price.”

“We were pleasantly surprised with how well done the rooms were-particularly the bathroom. The ocean is in the backyard and the town is just a few miles away.”

“I've stayed here on three previous visits. I've been in the cottages and in the motel. All have a stunning view of Penobscot Bay, and it's a pleasant and quiet enclave just minutes from downtown Belfast. Possibly the most interesting and charming town on the Maine coast.”

Reviews of Fort Knox Park Inn

“Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, attractive room. Nice continental breakfast.”

“A great location coupled with a welcoming smile made this one of the best hotel stays in years. Helpful staff, great views, and convenience to all sorts of places (such as Acadia National Park). Recommendations for food were terrific! Highly recommend this location- not fancy, but very nice, clean, and the location was great. (I wish that I had stayed another night instead of going down to Portland).”

“We had a one-night stay at this hotel and enjoyed it very much. We had a beautiful view of the river and bridge through our room window. MacLeod’s Restaurant is right across the street and the ice cream shop just down the block. This hotel is close to Fort Knox and many other beautiful must see places.”

Reviews of Harbour Cottage Inn B&B

“We stayed for three nights in the Yawl, a beautiful room with a view of the water. The breakfast menu changes every day and is exceptional. The owners were very attentive to our needs.”

“We really enjoyed it. The inn was charming. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was wonderful.”

“We stayed here in October 2012 and thought that it was excellent! The innkeeper was extremely helpful and welcoming and provided us with local knowledge of the area. The breakfast was fantastic on both mornings that we stayed there (despite there being a limited choice). The location is a little bit outside of town, but if you're looking for a quiet place to relax, then this place is ideal!”

Reviews of Knights Inn Ellsworth Bar Harbor

“For the most part, this place was fine and as expected for the price. The room and fixtures were older, but clean. We definitely appreciated the small kitchenette.”

“It was a nice little motel. Very clean and helpful staff. Not fancy, and for the price we paid, I wouldn't expect it to be. It's just a short drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor.”

“Peaceful, open rural surroundings. Loved the one-story hillside layout and look - attractive, fresh white. Rooms could use updating, but clean. Very congenial host, who had excellent restaurant suggestions.”

    Reviews of The Villager

“This is a basic motel, but it is an excellent position, near the center of town and has easy parking. We were towards the back of the motel and did not find the position noisy. The continental breakfast is adequate, but not fancy.”

“Hotel's location was its best feature! We parked the car there and never got it in until we were ready to leave town. Staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions for local activities. I left behind the charger for my iPad, but when I called to ask about it, I was told they found it, would mail it, and it was on my front door in less than a week! I would stay here again or recommend it to anyone going to Bar Harbor.”

“The Villager was clean, quiet, and pleasant and very convenient to downtown Bar Harbor. We were able to walk to every place in town we wanted to visit. Of course, we drove to Acadia National Park and other places like Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor, but the motel was convenient to them too.”

    Reviews of Primrose Inn

“It was an amazing stay, with great accommodations and wonderful service. All of the staff was friendly and concerned with our every need. The Primrose is a lovely place that we would recommend to anyone going to Bar Harbor.”

“A perfectly delightful inn close to town and Acadia sights. Owners and staff friendly and more than accommodating. Breakfasts were great and afternoon tea and treats not to be missed. We'll be back.”

“The Primrose Inn is just wonderful, a perfect resting spot on a long day at Acadia National Park. The owner provided information on what to see and do in Acadia. Since the park was technically closed during our stay, it was very helpful to know where we could park our car and walk into the various lakes, lookouts, etc. A truly memorable B&B.”

    Reviews of Asticou Inn

“I was pleasantly surprised at our find! It isn't too far from Bar Harbor, but you will have to drive, and it provided a wonderful view and quiet place to stay. Weddings/Receptions do occur so you may even be an uninvited spectator to the fun! (However, if you like silence when going to bed, ask about the schedule).”

“Absolutely loved this hotel! Service was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.”

“Very nice hotel. Clean. Nice rooms. Friendly staff. Beautiful view.”

Reviews of Kimball terrace Inn Northeast Harbor

“We stayed here for one night with two other couples on a weekend motorcycle trip. The rooms were clean and comfortable and having a restaurant on-site was great after a long day of riding and sight-seeing. The food and service in the restaurant was fantastic.”

“We enjoyed our night there. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is quiet and nice.”

“The hotel is very clean, convenient to everything, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.”

Reviews of Holiday Inn Bar Harbor (Acadia National Park)

“Quiet, relaxing time with an awesome view. I ate at the hotel restaurant. It was very good and the view was great. The rooms were clean and large.”

“We were very pleased with our stay, not only the hotel, but the restaurant. Food was very good and prices were reasonable. Staff was friendly and helpful.”

“We enjoyed the hotel's proximity to everything - a quick drive to Acadia, or downtown Bar Harbor. It was well-placed away from the noise and bustle, so it was quiet. The pool was very nice and had the feel of a resort with beautiful landscaping and a pool-side bar and food service.”

    Reviews of Wonder View Inn

“This hotel was conveniently located for touring Bar Harbor and Acadia NP. It is an older facility, very basic, but adequate for our needs. It was clean. The view from the hotel was limited due to tree growth across the road, beyond the control of the owner. You can see small sections of the bay over the tree tops.”

“Room was very clean with new bathroom fixtures, spectacular views of the bay, staff helpful, pool very clean, hotel was quiet, grounds well-kept with deer grazing on lawn at night - probably the most relaxing part of our stay in Maine. Less than five minutes from town and has places to eat right next door with great breakfast and ice cream.”

“Wonder View lives up to its name. Our room had a fabulous view of the harbor. Rooms are basic, clean, and roomy. We ate at the Looking Glass restaurant on the property and it was excellent - again a beautiful view with good food. There is a shuttle to downtown Bar Harbor. In Bar Harbor, you get a shuttle to Acadia National Park - all very easy, free, and convenient.”

    Reviews of The Colonial Inn

“Nice hotel, terrific friendly staff, and clean rooms. We had no problems at all. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and hot tub after a long, hot day in Bar Harbor.”

“Although the hotel is dated (1970-ish), it was extremely clean and well maintained. It appeared as though one stepped back in time to a 1970 atmosphere (avocado bath fixtures, etc.), but all fixtures appeared in brand new condition! There were even two workers in the parking lot in the morning sweeping up small debris here and there. The desk staff was very friendly. Overall it was a surprisingly pleasant facility.”

“We were looking for a clean, simple place to sleep for the night. This was on the way to Acadia National Park and satisfied all our needs: reasonable price for a clean, quiet, good place to sleep.”

    Reviews of The Bluenose Inn

“It was excellent, very fancy if you are used to less, moderately nice if you are used to very expensive nice places. I especially liked the piano musician in the lobby. There were no typical free breakfast items seen in many places, just some complimentary beverages, like tea and coffee. I would recommend looking at the tide charts near the front desk and do the crossing to Bar Island in the morning- very neat. Also, look around at the National Park.”

“The room was very clean and the service was great. Great value for the price. Enjoyed the hot tub and the in-room coffee. A car is needed, because the hotel is located just outside of town, but you can't beat the view of the harbor from our hotel balcony. We recommend this hotel.”

“The hotel was impeccably clean, and the staff was most helpful. The lounge area was very relaxing and dignified. The piano entertainment was a gracious touch that was both excellent and much appreciated.”

Reviews of Quality Inn Bar Harbor

“Very comfy bed. Close to city center and Acadia park. Would definitely stay there again. Great welcome, gave us hot cider and apples!”

“The staff and location was fantastic! Close to everything and the staff was eager to help with booking things for us and making sure that we had a great stay. They even had a cookout for everyone while we were there. Hotel was older, but very clean and well kept.”

“The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant. The rooms were updated. The only comment is that though they offer Wi-Fi, it was not powerful enough, and I had to go to the Lobby to use my computer. It is a fabulous location; so close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.”

    Reviews of Ramada Ellsworth

“Very clean, good breakfast, helpful friendly staff. I would stay here again. Good value.”

“The hotel is close to restaurants, a grocery store, and other shops. The staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great with hot and cold items, along with bakery items. There was plenty of seating room for breakfast, too. The hotel doesn't have an elevator, but is only two stories high. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Our group needed three rooms, and they placed us near each other, which helped.”

“We stayed four nights and had an extraordinary vacation exploring Acadia National Park. The room has two queen beds, microwave, and small fridge. The beds were very comfortable and cleaned. The hot breakfast was very good and front desk services were excellent. The hotel is easy to find and next to a supermarket. Small complaint is the heating/AC system was a little noisy. Overall, very satisfied with the hotel.”

Reviews of Hampton Inn Ellsworth/Bar Harbor

“Stayed over for one night on a business trip. Hotel was affordable, clean, and comfortable. Most importantly, service was friendly and courteous. There are several convenient eateries, Walgreens, and a supermarket within a very short walking distance. Will definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.”

“My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here. Awesome King-sizes bed and great pillows. Felt like I was at home. And to top it off, we enjoyed a great breakfast in the morning with good coffee!!”

“We love the Hampton Inns. Like the others we've stayed in, this one was immaculate. We were greeted by friendly desk clerks. We used the exercise room with its up-to-date nice equipment and amenities (towels and wipes to clean the machines). Our room was large, fresh, and extremely comfortable and quiet. Nicely laid out bathroom and very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast with many healthy, tasty choices. It's about a 35-minute drive to Bar Harbor, with big-box shopping, fast food, and pharmacies nearby. This was an excellent choice for us -- nice to come back from a day of kayaking and hiking and know that the room is so inviting!”

Reviews of Atlantic Oceanside Hotel & Conference Center

"We stayed at this hotel for three nights and it was pleasant. Very quiet with a nice view of the ocean from our room. Good location with a short five minute drive to the downtown area and Acadia National Park. Not many visitors at this time of the season. Very cold in Bar Harbor, but still enjoyed our stay there. Will not hesitate to stay at this hotel again. Morning complimentary breakfast was very good."

"We had a very enjoyable stay in the offseason (mid-November). Our room included a view of the ocean and a balcony. The staff was all friendly and helpful. We appreciated the availability of coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the lobby any time of day. The continental breakfast was extensive with something for everyone including eggs and bacon, sweet pastries, toast, bagels, waffles, yogurt, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, hot and cold beverages."

"Rooms were nice (we had one overlooking the water), great location close to town. Room was overall clean, good shower, nice big king bed, which was comfortable. Good place to relax and come back to after exploring around Bar Harbor."

    Reviews of Colonel’s Suites

"We had a great time. The set-up is somewhat unusual since it's above the bakery, but a delightful place to stay and the bakery and breakfasts were outstanding. It was great staying in the quaint Northeastern area, not far from the Bar Harbor crowds, but far enough away to enjoy the surroundings!!"

"In Northeast Harbor on the quiet side of Acadia National Park, rooms were large, clean, and quiet. Restaurant downstairs had best pizza I've had in a long time!!! Breakfast was included and many delicious options available. Would recommend it and return again!!"

"The suite was perfect for our stay. We stayed for two nights -- the breakfasts were amazing, the suite was ideal as we could enjoy watching TV and a glass of wine while surfing the web and sitting on a sofa, and it was right on the route of the free Island Shuttle, so we could be transported to and from our hikes. A great place to stay if visiting Acadia National Park as Northeast Bay is away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor."
