This hotel has seen better days

Posted Aug 27, 2014
This hotel has seen better days as accommodation is dated as is the bathroom facilities with a damp smell permiating room. However, the staff more than make up for accommodation as they are extremely attentive and helpful. Accommodation is 3 star.

Things You Should Be Aware Of

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Entire makeover, but not changing the style
Location: Best beach on the island, water sports, fishing, glass bottom boats, cave tours, island safari tours, shopping
The beach is very nice, the hotel staff and the island residents made the stay enjoyable. The advertising for the resort was very misleading, it is not worth the price in it's current condition. The hotel had been closed, taken over by the government, then half of the resort was re-opened and is currently being operated by a local entrepreneur. It has a very nice layout, but extremely dated and run down. We also found out that Sandals is in the process of taking over and plans to tear the whole thing down April 2015. There goes the neighborhood again, we certainly won't be able to afford it once it opens as a Sandals. The island is rapidly becoming a place the average family can't afford to vacation to. Since the island's major source of revenue is tourism, that could become a major issue, since only the rich will be able to vacation there. That's not much help for the locals that rely on common folk for water sports, fishing, excursions, etc.

Excellent Accomodation

Posted Aug 4, 2014
Pros: Built-in activities
Cons: More available times for activities so it wont be a "first come first served" option.
Location: Location is a good distance from the city, but a quaint village is nearby.
Throughly enjoyed every minute of my stay. Staff was friendly and helpful even before we reached the resort. Grounds were very well kept and pools always clean. Especially loved that numerous activities were scheduled into the package. Never a dull moment. Plus the food was always exceptional.
