“Nice family resort in paradise”
Hotel seems to be well maintained-pools are cleaned daily. Horizon Rest has screening to prevent birds from flying in (but a couple do sneak in.) Waterskiing is included but fills up fast-you have to reserve a spot one day in advance. Hobie Cats were fun and they will instruct you if you want. Banana Boat rides were everyday at 3 40p. They have snokel equipment (popular) Lots of amazing views right at the hotel. Meals were fine-more variety on the menu would be good. Hotel had two BBQ while we were there-lots of tables at both. The menu is more Barbadian than North American so expect a little more spice in your food and lots of fish. . If you buy a hat made from palm leaves pack it in your suitcase and plead ignorance if Customs sees it. My son wore his home and had it taken away from him by US Cusoms/Agriculture. They said it was still a plant (as it was green) and may contain mites they may damage crops. Not a pleasant experience for a 10 year old after a fun trip. This is a great resort for families-I am not sure if young singles would find it as much fun. It wants to seen as a five star property-I am not sure it is there yet but it is better than many of the places we have been and has potential.
“Excellent hotel”
I would recommend anyone to go there. The service was excellent and what few problems we had they took care of it extremely fast The food was great at all the resturants. We didn't get a chance to go to Enid's , but I'm sure it was just as good as The Horizon,Reef and Lasmirtra. The snorkeling that you can do there is great because of all the coral that is around. We seen all kinds of colored fish, and my husband snorkeled with a sea turle. It was great. Totally loved it.
“Underrated in Barbados - go if you can”
Wonderful setting on the north west beach, helpful staff once you get used to the relaxed caribbean approach. All facilities good except gym and nightclub, but who needs those on this type of holiday. Research the excursions well, can achieve better independantly. HAVING SAID THAT - I think this resort is underrated - we'd certainly go again so 5!
“HOTEL BEST”
THE ENTIREHOTEL EXPERIENCE WAS GREAT HOWEVER i THINK THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE PICK UP FROM THE AIRPORT AND BACK
“Great Resort but not for Avid Golfers”
We enjoyed the Hotel, the food and the relaxing atmosphere. The people are very pleasent and always helpful. Our flight got cancelled and we arrived 5 hours early so the Resort gave us Breakfast and allowed us to change and use all the facilities while we waited. The only thing that I was not happy about was the Golf (9 Hole). They use limited fly golf balls and the rentals are outdated. If you are a low handicap player and an avid golfer you will not like this course. My suggestion to the Resort is to tell people this in their ad's, so if you are booking a Golf Vacation you won't be disappointed. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and would consider it again but not for Golfing.
“A nice place to stay”
The almond bay village gives you a great stay in Barbados. The all-in is really ALL-in: Food, drinks, most activities and sports. The only things we had to pay for were the spa, a few trips and the rent for golf clubs and cart (only $5 a person for the 9 holes). The service is very good and the people are very friendly. The food is good, but not great. The only negative point I have is that the hotel is somewhat older (the last renovation dates back to 1995) and that shows. Nevertheless, the domain is pretty large and there are a lot of nice amenities. We enjoyed our stay there.
“Spent a great time at Almond”
My friend and i stayed in Almond Beach Village for 7 days and we enjoyed so much there. Food was fantastic. you can choose from buffet style or restaurant style even for lunch time. they do awesome job with fish... it was so delicious~! all the staffs were very friendly in gentle way. Our room was in 7 building and the view was breath taking~!!! You should not miss the beautiful sunset there. night entertainment was bit weak but that was ok with us. the complimentary service was a big nice suprise at the end. the resort is more ideal for family with kids in my opinion though. over all, we enjoyed our stay at ABV, i will definitely recommend my friends to go there.
“Almond Beach Village good and bad”
Resort grounds well kept. Room size compact for the price. If you are bringing kids, check the menus first. Not too many choices unless you eat at better restaurants at home. Staff very considerate. Beach has some coral but many places to swim. Not much else in the area, cabs expensive, tours also expensive. Make sure of your room location when booking, families with children on south end, more adults on north end of property. Very small showers and bathrooms but very comfortable beds and good closet/storage space. We are not an upscale menu family, would like to see more basic items.
“Great for kids”
This was our 2nd trip to Almond Beach Village. Our daughter is 4 years old and we traveled for a quick one week vacation to Barbados to escape our New England winter. We were actually impressed to find the resort in better condition than our last trip. Evidence of improved maintenance was everywhere including new signage and new equipment in the fitness center. The rooms are adequate, nothing special, comfortable and clean. We had a small balcony overlooking the water. Service was superb. Room was ready when we arrived, even the cot for our daughter was in the room already when we opened the door. The food was very good. They do best with breakfast. For lunch you have many choices and can always find a salad (could use a few more choices of dressing). Dinner in one of the three restaurants was very good. Enough variety for one week, but I would worry about a two week vacation with the marginally rotating menu. All in all, a great week and we would return (and likely will) next year.
“nice hotel”
This hotel was amazing...so many things to do and so huge you can get lost on your first day. Great food, mostly sit down service for lunch and dinner. The Italian restaurant called La Smaritta is excellent! I would give the food a five star service. the staff was nice. It was nice to have the option to visit the Beach club and spa, although it was a smaller resort, it caters to adults only. The Village was more family kid oriented. They also offered shuttle bus service to Bridgetown from Monday to Thursday. Very good if you want to go out of the resort and do some cheap shopping. Everything there seems cheap, such as name brand watches like TAG, OMEGA, Movado. Do your research if you want to purchase any big ticket items. They are duty free and no tax over there. The only complaint I had would be the beach is rockier than I expected. However, it's not so bad and bearable. You must swim with the turtles, they are so cute and you can touch them.
