“Best vacation ever”

“Not Impressed”

staff very nice, food average, same breakfast all week no choices, two days with toilet problems- had to walk down to see mgr before anything was taken serious. Booked one of the best rooms had water leaking all over from toilet, the walls and the floor flooded from the leak in ceiling. travel alot would never go back to this resort.

“Would return in a heartbeat!”

I read the reviews on this hotel and some were very negative. They must have stayed at a different hotel than we did. This is the Caribbean, you can leave your mainland attitude at home. Relax your on vacation and you're in their country, go along with the program. We had a great time.

“great bang for your back”

I had a delightful time. This is one of the few all inclusive resorts and the food was delicious albeit by the end of the rip, you kind of got sick of the food, but the food was fresh with great sensitive vegetarian options and delicious fish entrees. The staff at the bar was great, the drinks were great, go for the banana smoothie, and they give you a complimentary bottle of rum on arrival. The resort is safe and the staff are quite helpful.

Area recommendations

Go visit the shopping district along Broad Street. Also you get great duty free deals at the airport. Also, do the swimming with turtles excursion. It was great to snorkel with giant sea turtles

“Almond Casaurina - August 2011”

I returned from the Almond Casaurina yesterday. Overall, my family and I had a good experience, but there were some things that bothered us, and other guests shared our same concrens. 1) I did not have internet access for an entire week. There is no WiFi at the resort and the hard wired connection was not working. In 2011 I think it is unacceptable to not have free WiFi at a resort. 2) Prior to arrival I was not informed of the requirement for men to wear 'long trousers' for dinner. I where a suit to work everyday, and when I am on vacation on an island in 90 degree heat I like to wear shorts. Because of this requirement I was only allowed to eat dinner at the buffets and I could not go to some of the finer dining experiences. 3) Customer service skills were lacking in most of the employees. The front desk staff should always greet you with a smile, but I am not sure if I saw any of the young ladies in guest services smile at anyone. The bartenders and the beach staff were the only personable staff. Some of the waitresses were good, but some acted as if I they did not want to do their job. 4) The resort is very well kept and it is very close to the airport. I enjoyed the food even though I could only partake of the buffets. As I walked through St. Lawrence Gap, it did appear that the Almond Casaurina was one of the nicest resorts in this area. My parents are from Barbados, so I will return to the island, but I will probably stay somewhere else.

Area recommendations

Harrison's Cave is the major tourist attraction. My family enjoyed the tour through the cave and I would recommend it. I remember going there in the past, and they have made some nice improvements. We also walked through Bridgetown, which is the island's capital. It is a good place to buy souvenirs. Oistins is the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights for great fish, and entertainment. My kids are small, so I did not do any other activities, but the Harbor Master Cruise ship and the 4x4 tours across the island are great. I have done them before, and I look forward to doing them again in the future when my kids are older.

Getting around

The excursions that are advertised by the resort were overpriced. You can call your own taxi driver to take you to the same places for a much cheaper price. I was able to call a cab to take us to Harrison's Cave for almost half of what the resort was advertising.

What to pack

Make sure that all men pack 'long trousers'. I'm not sure if this is required at all of the resorts, but I was only able to eat at the dinner buffets because I had on shorts.

“Good”

One big problem is why the pool with the bar says no kids at all and there's little kids jumping in don't like that , everything else was great room nice had a bottle of wine in the room , food was great and drinks, the hotel need more people to work but it was a great stay. beach nice i will go back anytime.

“Great Hotel, was so sad to leave”

Just back from a great stay at the Almond Casuarina. It's a great value All Inclusive. I think some of the other reviews here are out of date as the rooms we stayed in had everything we required and were extremely comfortable and well appointed. There were no ongoing rennovations. The food was great - one night in Enids (caribbean style restaurant) we had the best lamb ever (and we come from a country with some of the best lamb in the world). The breakfast was also good with a huge choice and cook to order omelettes etc. The sea has high waves and it's fun to jump them but it's tough to swim in such rough sea. We really enjoyed the free courtesy bus (with a great driver who acted like a tour guide to the Island) to the Almond Village resort on the West Coast where the sea is flat calm and you can participate in even more watersports as well as having dinner in their restaurants etc (although you need to book some of them in advance). The resort drinks are great too, especially blended cocktails like the Almond Cooler! But even for standard drinks it was Gordons Gin, Smirnoff etc and the local Banks beer. We found the staff friendly and helpful whenever we were looking for advice, taxis booked etc All in all a great stay and we will return!

Area recommendations

I'd recommend a trip with Jus' Chillin' a watersports company which can be found on the beach at the Almond Village (sister hotel) in St Peter. They are really friendly/knowledgeable and professional and very reasonably priced. I also enjoyed the boardwalk and bars at Hastings for a change of scene. Golf at the Barbados Golf Club was also good and we booked via the hotel.

Getting around

You need to jump in one of the small mini vans which run from Bridgetown right along the south coast and back. They toot their horn and you just wave them down and tell them where you want to go. It's only $2 BDS and a real local experience/ more fun than a taxi!

“friendly,efficient,and booking in again next year”

Hello, bet you are wondering what the truth is about Hotel Almond Casuarina. Read on: First and foremost management along with management staff is very important for the smooth and efficient running of any hotel, and I have to congratulate General manager also assistant manager and the management team for doing just that. Very approachable and understanding and above all......Fantastic people. My stay within the the Casuarina is one that will be with me for the rest of my life. The warm welcome when you arrive stays with you throughout your stay. Lush tropical Gardens and beautiful beach underneath a blanket of blue sky and the friendliness of all the restaurant and bar staff, kind and happy people working very hard to make you feel special. The room was efficient and comfortable with en/suite, A/C a must in Barbados. I must admit it is a breath of fresh air going to your room after a day of meltdown knowing your A/C is on for your comfort. The room service is excellent, staff are always making you laugh should you bump in to them. Evening live entertainment is available throughout the hotel bars. The music is excellent from the sounds of the Carribean to mainstream allowing for personal request and involvement. Drinks come in all shapes and sizes Regards the food having had all inclusive in the past the Hotel Almond Casaurina cuisine was outstanding,wholesome,nutricious and above all well presented. GENERALLY NOT TOO MUCH. KEEP TO A MINIMUM AND MIND THE FIRST AID KIT, MOSQUITOS AND OTHER CANT SEE INSECTS ARE IN ABUNDANCE SO MIND THE REPELLANTS AND COVER UP AT NIGHT WHEN OUT APART FROM THAT SUN CREAM PLENTY OF THE HIGH FACTOR IF YOUR A PALE PEELY CHARACTER.......OH AND A HAT AND GLASSES.....HAVE A BLAST!

“Excellent place to relax and recover.”

Visigted before the renovation and had great time, Having read negative reports prior to trip had some misgiving about returning. Sure there will be unfortunate experiences now and then. Still believe it 's a great place to stay. Friendly, helpful staff. Didn't get all the names, but remember reastaurant manager Sophie and bus drier Roger. Staff works hard to keep visitors happy, especially the restaurant service. Ready smiles. Waters at beach can be quite rough and even while standing in knee-deep water the waves can suck the sand from under your feet causing loss of balance and a poentially unfortunate experience.
