A pleasant surprisePosted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Position of the hotel is wonderful;small / private beach. Its staff are only too anxious to be attentative. Good array of complimentary water sports
Cons: Rooms were fine but a little tired . Bathrooms need some updating but didn't spoil our stay.
Location: Not much near the hotel but buses/ taxis are cheap. The beach is the centre of the resort. Nearest town (Holetown) is about 5 -10 mins away.
Just returned from 7 days at Crystal Cove and we have to say that it exceeded all our expectations. The hotel, staff and ambience at the hotel/ resort is set up to make your stay feel special. Ideal for a celebrations or a 'special' trip. Staff are so friendly and made the trip for us. Catering is good with two contrasting restaurants. Rooms are adequate but not luxurious.Public areas are in more up to date condition. We had an ocean view Junior Suite just off the beach which suited us very well. Only a few steps from the beach so easy to pop back during the day. The resort is off the main coast road , about 20 mins from Bridgetown There is a complimentary water taxi to visit two other sister resorts in the region. Otherwise you may want to hire a car (as we did) to travel further afield. The resort will suit groups looking for a relaxing/ safe stay. Plenty of water sports for older children/ teenagers. Not so close to a main town which will limit appeal for people looking for nightlife.

Lovely hotel with pools and beautiful beach.Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: The hotel was clean, beautifully furnished and all the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Its a little rough round the edges and could do with a bit of sprucing up here and there.
Location: There are regular trips to see the turtles, only ten minutes in a boat and a ship wreck. The hotel is just around the corner from the Cliff restuarant
This was our first foreign holiday for a couple of years and it did not disappoint. The weather was beautiful and the people are extremely friendly. We had our 4 year old little boy with us who loved every minute, including the excellent well run kids club.

Excellent all inclusivePosted Jun 27, 2014
Pros: Food and beach are the best
Cons: The toilet plumbing
Location: Great shopping in Bridgetown, The Cliff & Tides restaurants are excellent. Lots of water sports in the hotel and snorkelling is a great experience.
Great holiday in a great setting, beautiful grounds and beach. The staff are friendly & helpful and the food is excellent. Every meal at this hotel was outstanding with good choices for lunch & dinner. The breakfast buffet is the best we've had & we have stayed in many hotels. The plumbing can be a little disconcerting at times but hey this adds to the Bayan experience.

attractive beachside hotelPosted Mar 7, 2014
Pros: Layout of the hotel. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Restricted beach swimming area, with some hidden rocks
Location: Excellent water sports facilities, run by friendly staff, which are included in the hotel price
Attractively designed, open air hotel, situated on St James Beach. Staff were outstanding - very friendly and helpful. Food was ok most days, but is included in your hotel price; the buffets (opposed to a la carte menus) were the best.
Not goodPosted Feb 16, 2014
Pros: Most of the staff were helpful and pleasant, the beach was nice.
Cons: Needs to be completely re furnished. The wine list needs to be vastly improved.
Location: Not the best location, not much around, although you can get around the island using the bus service if you do not hire a car.
This resort is not what you would expect of a four star + resort. The bathrooms in our room had sinks that did not fit, the condition of the fittings and furnishings were old and mostly could do with replacing. The food was ok, the drinks were not, the wines being particularly bad. The overall standard of the resort is what we would expect at a 2/3 star resort.

All inclusive without the all inclusive feelingPosted Dec 29, 2013
Pros: The layout felt very secluded (which I loved)
Cons: 24 hour icecream
Location: The location was perfect. Really loved the beaches. The entire island was accessible by taxi, but I enjoyed riding the local buses
Nice beach with plenty of chairs. The overall setup of the resort was fantastic. The real seller though was the staff. Every person encountered on our trip was one of the nicest ever.

Fantastic holidayPosted Dec 10, 2013
Pros: 3 swimming pools, swim-up cave bar, proximity to beach, helpful staff, clean rooms, plenty of fresh towels, excellent food.
Location: We went on a submarine trip to see the coral reef, hired a car to see caves on the north side of the island, there are tropical flower gardens.
The hotel is well placed on the beach and the sea-view rooms have a fantastic view of the white beach and turquoise sand. The sunset is also stunning. The staff (well, everyone on the island really) are friendly and helpful and we'd recommend making full use of the great 'activities co-ordinator' and hiring a car to explore the island.

Friendly staff; amazing food!Posted Nov 29, 2013
Pros: Almost everything! Pools, beach area, cleanliness of grounds, and absolutely superb service with a smile from virtually every staff member.
Cons: More all-day meal options rather than just finger sandwiches; care & attention by cleaning staff; make 1 of the 3 pools adult-only.
Location: Beautiful, relatively quiet location...but almost nothing to do outside of resort within comfortable walking distance.
Crystal Cove made our honeymoon an almost perfect example of what a honeymoon should be. From the white sand and turquoise Caribbean waters, to the plenty of available beach or poolside loungers complete with beverage delivery, to the inviting pools and manicured grounds, to the large and comfortable king-size bed, to the walkout patio with a 180 degree ocean view, to the always-stocked mini-bar and non-stop concoctions at the Cave Bar or Drifters Bar, to the impeccably prepared and presented culinary offerings at every meal, to the classy evening entertainment...this place is excellent value for the money!! Like any resort, it has its slight imperfections and can't possibly appeal to every guest taste or nuance, but any minor misgivings we had about anything were trumped by the employees' attitudes and grace. The staff are incredible people (special shout outs to Ulissia, David, and Dawna!) who work hard to make you feel special and ensure your vacation is stress free and personalized. We loved the staff so much that we would be hard-pressed to choose another resort on our return trip to Barbados, but their sister resort (Turtle Beach) offers similar value yet is located directly by the St. Lawrence Gap night life area...which would likely appeal more to younger people like us. If you don't need a busy evening past 1030pm, stay at Crystal Cove--you'll love it!!

Pleasant stayPosted Nov 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
Our 5 days family escape was beautiful. Two separate rooms with big bathrooms inside of each room helped a lot to have a space between our 15 y.o. daughter and be together at the same time. Rooms was very clean! Dining was delicious! Beach small, but very convenient and full with everything, included free motorized water sport. You could walk on the beach as well. Swim with turtles is about 5 min by public bus, $1 per person from Paynes Bay. We paid only $20 per person for 1 hr tour from that beach. If you are good swimmer, you can swim from Paynes Bay without tour. Only 5-7 min inside of the ocean. Very safety! So our vacation was great!

Good/ok but wouldn't say greatPosted Nov 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
Would rate the hotel 3 star plus, the food and restaurants are ok and were sometimes very good but other times a bit disappointing.Service also varied a bit. Watersports were excellent but the having to get down there at 8am to book for the day after was a bit of a chore on holiday, otherwise they would be fully booked and you couldn't get out. Rooms were nice and clean with decent showers, although the TV frequently froze on certain channels and were intermittently blocked for payment. All in all, ok and a nice holiday but wouldn't rush back.
