“Nice tourist hotel. The activities coordinator cannot do enough for you”

Nice quite hotel. I was happy with everything. I would only ask that the vents over the doors be made to seal to cut down on the sound.

“Lovely time”

The staff at this hotel were great. From i walk into the door the reception was friendly and welcoming. The location was great it was close to everything or a short taxi ride. We went to the beach every day and was involve in alot of tours. I stayed on the first floor so had to kept my curtain close for privacy. There are plenty of restaurants close by. I would definitely recommed this hotel

“Cant wait to go back perfect Hotel”

I really enjoyed my stay at Dover. Its a great small hotel, clean the staff is very nice. It close to all the Bars and the clubs, it was just perfect. The walk to the clubs are about 15 mins down the road but 5 in a taxi. Nothing is to far to walk.

“For the budget traveller”

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were able to answer all my questions. The restaurant is not that great. That said, I only had breakfast so I can't vouch for service at the other meal times. The location is ideal. The airport is nearby and it is not absolutely necessary to rent a car for the entire duration of one's stay. The bus service is very efficient. The airport is about 15 - 20 minutes away. The beach is right outside but most beaches are within walking distance any way. Barbados if generally safe and this location was no exception. Overall I would recommend this hotel if you are a budget traveller and not looking for the frills of the larger 5 star hotels. Good value for money.

St. Lawrence/The Gap is the area to stay in Barbados. If you are looking for a luxury vacation, then the West Coast (aka the Platinum Coast) is the place for you.

Via bus or rent a car if you want to explore the East or North of the island.

“Not impressed”

very small swimming pool, no beach umbrulla or chairs, very old towels but convienent access to beach

“Planning my next trip to Barbados”

I enjoyed my stay at the Dover Beach Hotel. I slept with my sliding glass door open everynight so I could listen to the waves. My only complaint was the door to my room did not close securely enough for me and I had to put a chair up to the door at night. Will I stay there again...yes I will.

must definitely go on allday outing on a catamand boat and snorkle and swim with the sea turtles also go to Crane Beach for the Sunday Gospel Brunch

“basic, but everything we needed”

The hotel was nothing special but it was nice enough. Everything was clean and we had everything we needed. We stayed here because the price was so good and we basically got what we paid for. We didn't expect anything fancy but we were happy with what we had. The only thing was the bed was two twin beds pushed together which annoyed me at first but it didn't turn out to be a problem or uncomfortable, so it was fine. The hotel room was very big, with a nice balcony and a small amount of kitchen supplies. One tiny detail that bothered me was that there was a kettle and coffee cups but they didn't provide any coffee. The pool area was nice and the beach was nice as well, although you're not supposed to take the hotel lounge chairs onto the beach. I didn't mind because I normally lay on a towel on the beach but I can see that being an inconvenience to others. We were there during a very quiet time, the hotel staff said June and September are their quietest months. We liked the location of the hotel because there are bars and restaurants down the road. There are a few that are about a 5 minute walk and then there's even more that are about 15 minutes down the road. We enjoyed this because we just walked around every night going to dinner and then to bars. Locals approached us on the street everytime we were out there, trying to sell us everything they could. It was a little annoying but they stopped as soon as we said we weren't interested. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

Area recommendations
The hotel is located in St. Lawrence Gap and we only stayed there during our trip. It was such a good area for nightlife that we didn't need to go anywhere else.

“Waiting for the next opportunity to go back”

The staff bent over backwards to help us enjoy our stay. Great staff.

I found Barbados quite safe. Did not feel threatened at any time.
Getting around
We tried it all. The public transportation was pretty good. We walked some and also drove some.
Dining
Friday night at Oistins is the best. But we found that one can also get good dinners on other days. Although it is quieter the rest of the week.
Outdoors or beach
Barbados boasts excellent beaches on the South and West coasts if you prefer calmer seas. Had to be dragged out of the water most times. Yeah it was that good!!

“great beach location”

This is a pleasant hotel with a small feel, although there are quite a few rooms of various locations, eg beach view, pool side, garden view. We had the garden view -- a very nice, large room, with small kitchen area. I couldn't make the gas stove ignite, but didn't care enough to ask for help. The beach is nice. There is a deck beach side and lots of pool space. The onsite restaurant is small with decent food. There are plenty of other places to eat as well. The fitness room had a couple of machines; overall it was musty and dark. There are cabs easily available and an activities leader to help everyone with their sightseeing desires. We stayed two nights and would have enjoyed another day or so.

This hotel is in the St. Lawrence Gap area of Bridgetown, Barbados. The Gap is seriously overrated -- several good restaurants, lots of shanty bars, and several trinket vendors.

“Will be our hotel of choice in Barbados!!”

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere and excellent location! Definitely bring/get groceries for there are kitchenettes in every room (I believe) and dining out every night gets expensive. Would recommend to friends and family, and we now consider the Dover Beach Hotel our "home away from home" while in Barbados!

Area recommendations
The St. Lawrence Gap area was great for nightlife, dining and general atmosphere. Also enjoyed Bridgetown which was a 15 minute drive from our hotel. A very clean and beautiful city!
Traveler's tip
A must-do while in Barbados is the catamaran day cruise. There are several outfitters that are all about the same price. The snorkeling with the sea turtles and over ship wrecks was amazing. The most popular outfitters are Cool Runnings and Tiami. Our hotel recommended the Rubaiyat, and it was a great choice. While other catamaran outfitters passed by full to the brim with people. The Rubaiyat cuts the number on board to 20 passengers, and it truly was the difference in the trip. Plenty of room to lounge on the boat, a more personal experience with the crew and more individualized attention from the crew when snorkeling. A definite must with any outfitter that you choose!
