Nice hotel, decent location and friendly staff.

The hotel is beautiful in its simplicity and sits right on the beach. All bars in the Gap are within a short walk. It isn't the fanciest of hotels, but everything is clean and as described. Special shout out to Mary on the activities desk - anything you want to do on the island can be arranged through her. She's got connections ;)

Good location and budget friendly.

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Location......beach access.....staff.
Cons: The rooms could use a nice remodel......mostly cosmetic things.
Location: So many restaurants and bars near by....most within walking distance.
Set in the St.Lawrence the location is great ! All of the hotel staff are wonderful, helpful and friendly. The sun deck and beach were very nice......There does seem to be a bit of a noise problem......room doors nearly need to be slammed when locking them when you leave your room, and being several groups of teens came and went during our stay we heard doors slamming from 6am to 3am.....we could hear the maids sweeping the floor of the room above us and any thing was moved or dropped in that room it sounded as if it was in our room. I would recommend getting a car for at least a portion of your stay.....My wife and I enjoyed driving around the island to explore all we could during our 11 days.

Nice smaller hotel, very clean and they accommodated us so quickly - we called from another hotel on the island and they were able to give us our room as soon as we got there - actually said come over now - rooms ready. We will be going back!

Neatly tucked into a corner of paradise

Hotel staff from maintenance to manager were absolutely lovely! Rooms were well furnished, neat, and comfortable. My only wish was that we were provided with coffee in the room. We stayed in a garden view room. I would stay in an ocean view room next time.

My room with a view

Posted Apr 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
We stayed at the DBH for a week. The ladies at the front desk were very pleasant and accommodating. The room was smaller than expected, but with a great ocean view. The beach is quite rough waters. We spent more time at Carlyle Bay, where the water was always calm and the beach is amazing....it's a short 10 mins drive from DBH. Security need to be more strict with the local solicitors who frequent the hotel grounds, selling everything from drugs to foot massages. Mary, Marcia and the entire staff was very friendly. Thank you ladies.

Close to lots of food and entertainment

Overall pretty good stay. The room was clean, front desk personnel were very helpful especially MARY. Free wifi, always a plus. Food at the hotel was basic but the location of the hotel was in walking distance of over 10 local dining choices that include takeout and dine-in. Taxi service was readily available. Beach access. Overall a good stay. For the cost, I think it was good. I didn't like the whole twin beds thing, but I'm sure they would have accommodated a room change if I had asked.

A very nice hotel on the ocean.

Pros: Convenient location and very helpful friendly staff. Restful and peaceful.
Cons: Minor details that show up as buildings age but nothing major. It is not the Waldorf Astoria but is quite pleasing.
Location: Night life of St. Lawrence gap area, lots to choose from for dining. As well as a short bus ride (6 km) to Oistens Bay Fish Fry Fri. nights is a must
We were looking for a quiet experience and The Dover Hotel was ideal for us. We had a 2nd floor room with balcony that looked down over the pool area and directly out to the ocean and beach area. The room was very clean which is what we look for with a kitchenette for cooking in desired. Shuttle bus services were within a short walk and they would take you anywhere you wanted to go for a reasonable fee of one U.S. dollar each way. The hotel staff were very friendly as well as helpful. The Hotel itself is conveniently located about 8 km from the Airport and about 8 km from the capital of Bridgetown which is worth a visit. (Hotel is midway between airport and capital) The local people are all very friendly, speak English and made you feel welcome and safe. I ran daily approx. 8 km and ran up many roads and off-road foot trails (that I saw the locals using) while I was there and never once did I feel unsafe. Best holiday for peace and rest that I have ever had and would highly recommend and definitely we will be returning.

Dover Beach Hotel in Barbados

Posted Apr 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
Room was clean, but lacked in little touches that would be expected at the price level. Lack of adequate wash cloths, pillow cases which were too small for the pillows, no tissues in the bathroom, no in room coffee provided, and a rusted shower rod. We booked a deluxe room & we requested an ocean view. We had to pay an additional premium on site to get what we requested and it appeared to be far from full occupancy. Overall the room was comfortable and the staff was helpful & friendly.
