Place to connect with nature beautiful ocean view

Posted Apr 17, 2014
This was a short vacation that was relaxing. The ocean view was lovely, the sun raises and sunset were beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was adequate. A little more variety for breakfast would be better. All in all a good stay value for money.

Came to surf. Perfect location for it.

Posted Mar 20, 2014
Pros: Nice and quiet and right on the water. Just what we were looking for.
Cons: Bedding was not very comfortable, and room felt damp.
Location: Lots of surfing and kite surfing if your into water sports. Beach was also beautiful. Had fun swimming and playing in the waves.
Great place. Off the beaten path. A car rental would help next time.

Very basic apartment

Posted Mar 16, 2014
Pros: Location by the sea
Cons: The list is too long!
Location: Convenient to airport, difficult to find, nothing to do nearby without a car journey.
Garden view actually means looking over a wall to a carpark. Bedroom furnished with one small double bed, two bedside tables, one chair, no mirror, one dressing table?, breakfast bar with four stools, and kitchenette, wardrobe was in the bathroom, four hangers. Only daylight came in through door/front glazed wall elevation, other three walls solid breeze block, resembled a dungeon! Bathroom - sink plug would not work, shower offered only limited luke warm water. Wedding Reception booked for Saturday afternoon/evening in gazebo adjoining restaurant, so no food available that evening, but plenty of noise from disco until 2115hrs!! Staff were pleasant and helpful.

Pros: Laid back and not too full of tourists.Staff helped when asked.Food was very good.Wonderful Wifi in room which is Not consistent in Barbados hotels!
Cons: The breakfast( which was included and appreciated) could have been more organized but staff were sincere and friendly and willing to learn I believe.
Location: Surfing, wind sailing swimming yoga--all spectator sports for us!
We had a relaxing time at this rustic Bajan hotel. The staff were helpful and very friendly. We especially enjoyed time with Parris the taxi driver! We met the owners young daughter who was delightful! To make it more perfect a pool would have been nice.We would return and stay in one of the larger units.

Country-Side Atmosphere....quiet and healthy .

Pros: The name implies what to expect i.e. Ocean Spray. One hears the waves lashing against the rocks.
Cons: Phone in room upon request. A swimming pool. A souvenir shop.
Location: It is in a secluded and private area for one who prefers it that way. Walking, fishing, surfing and swimming.
My wife and I spent a most enjoyable and quiet five days vacation. The staff are all most anxious to please. Credit must be given to Sade, the front desk receptionist, who displayed such patience especially on arrival when questions need to be answered. I walked out, by choice of exercising, about 1/2 mile and went to the grocery, market etc by travelling in a Maxi Taxi for BDS$2. There is also a mini mart at a short distance. I also went on an Island Tour. We were in a self contained apartment since we like cooking. We also enjoyed the complimentary daily buffet breakfast provided.

Nice clean apt/hotel with very pleasant staff.

Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: Bigger TV maybe? but that's just me.
Location: Relatively close to BGI airport.
I had to stay an extra (unplanned) day in Barbados during a recent vacation. I found the Ocean Spray Hotel on Expedia and it fit my needs just fine. The hotel is about 5 miles from BGI airport but if you stay there for more than a day, rent a car, otherwise it will cost you a fortune in cab fare. The hotel is ocean-front but it's not a swimmable beach (rocky); extremely rough waters suitable only for surfing and that's iffy at that. The staff is excellent though. Andrew at the desk is a real pro at customer service. There is a quaint little restaurant on the property staffed by three nice gentlemen and the grilled snapper dinner I had was very good. This hotel would be great if your the type who likes quiet and being around the friendly locals. If you want to be in the center of things, this is not it. The room itself was clean and set up like a studio apartment with fridge, stove, sink, and a small TV. You pass through a mostly residential area to get there. The only noise you'd hear at night is the ocean's roar. Not really My choice for a long vacation, but for that day, it was great.

Reasonably-priced base in Barbados

Posted Jun 12, 2013
Pros: Location, views, balconies, price
Cons: Somewhat dated
Location: Close to the airport and on the shore
The hotel is quite close to the airport, although it's about a 10 minute taxi ride since it is at the opposite end of the airport from the passenger terminal. It is right on the ocean front, with beautiful views of surfers riding crashing waves, strong breezes, and of course, salt spray. We stayed two nights on our way to and from other destinations in the Caribbean. Our first room was a one bedroom suite with leaky faucets in the bathroom -- decor definitely dated but reasonably clean and comfortable, and a lovely balcony. Our second room was much better -- a studio apartment that appeared to have been more recently renovated. Both rooms had basic kitchen facilities. The restaurant was open for dinner on our first visit -- an enjoyable Caribbean meal. On our second visit -- a Sunday -- the restaurant was not open and it was necessary to take a 20 minute taxi ride to get dinner. Drinks were available at reception although the bar was closed. Staff was friendly and breakfast was excellent. The grounds are pleasant, with chaises longues for sunning, but swimming is out of the question on a rocky shoreline. This hotel would make a reasonably-priced base for surfing, windsurfing, a driving tour of Barbados, or just relaxing on chaises longues or the lovely balconies.
