“Give yourself a break”

This is the third time that we have visited Settlers Beach in Holetown. The location is perfect for us as we enjoy eating out at different places and Holetown is perfect for its proximity to good restaurants, has a good supermarket, small souveneer shops etc. The beach is small but not busy and you are able to walk to other areas of the beach which hire jet ski's etc and are more commercialised. The hotel service is good and nothing is too much trouble. The small restaurant at Settlers (Spago) serves good food although the service can be a touch lacking if they are in any way busy.

“Best low-key, relaxing stay in Barbados”

We just returned from a Thanksgiving vacation in Barbados; and we are definitely thankful to have found Settlers Beach Villa Hotel. The villas were clean and had a surprising amount of privacy. We used the full kitchen to make breakfast and loved the patio area. The concierge staff was friendly and helpful - they booked our rental car and had it brought right to the hotel for us. The beach is quiet and beautiful. We did not go to the Spago restaurant on site, instead we ventured over to the local Holetown places. During the day they looked like dives but at night the shutters opened up to fantastic and delicious restaurants!

“Excellent villas to relax”

We really enjoyed our stay in the villas. The area consists of several villas (containing very clean bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and very larege lounges) around a little swimming pool, 30 seconds from a near-private beach. It is an excellent place to go if you want to have a relaxed time, since it is away from the busy beaches and very peaceful. The service was excellent and staff were very helpful to get taxis, indicate nearby attractions etc... Definately going back soon!

“Perfect for families and couples looking for relaxation!”

We just got back from a week at Settler's Beach hotel. We are a family with 3 children and this hotel was perfect for us. We were looking for a peaceful hotel with a pool and calm beach. We found everything we were looking for. The staff was extremely helpful and the rooms very spacious. There are 22 private villas surrounding beautiful gardens, a central courtyard, and pool. Our 2 story villa had a dining room, kitchen, living room, 2 large bedrooms, 3!! bathrooms and balcony. The villas are very private, but this hotel would also be perfect for friends traveling together. We were not looking for one of those all inclusive large resort with lots of people. While walking up and down the beach we kept remarking how lucky we were that we picked Settler's beach. The other "resorts" were very crowded with rows and rows of chairs and people crowded on the beach and many had large rocks on their beaches. The beach at Settler's was lovely. Beautiful, calm water with soft sand and a coral reef perfect for snorkeling just off shore. Our kids were fascinated with all of the fish! The hotel is in a great, safe location close to shops and restaurants. With easy access to Bridgetown and Speightstown. We will definitely go back to Settler's Beach hotel!

“An oasis on the west coast”

We loved this hotel which consists of self catering villas in a beautiful garden with a nice pool. There is a restaurant which is fine although we only ate there once as there are so many good eateries in easy reach. The supermarket is a walk away so you could easily just cook at home. We thought the staff were very helpful and friendly. The only downside is the narrow beach with little room for sunbeds although this doesn't really matter when there are so many amazing beaches nearby eg at Heron Bay House - a 10 min walk. It would be ideal for parents with babies as you can wheel buggies into Holetown and all restaurants are child friendly. Also the hotel will arrange someone to cook for you if you want. We hired a car which meant we could look around the island but it would have been fine to stay put as there's enough to do in Holetown. Adjacent to the hotel is one of the historic churches of Barbados which is really beautiful and we could hear the wonderful singing during the services and choir practice!

“Great for Chillin”

Nice on site bar and restaurant,good prices watersports on the beach, supermarket, shops just 2 mins walk. Best holiday for those not looking for a built up area.

“A little bit disppointing”

We stayed on both the South and West coast. In my research the South coast appeared to have nicer beaches but I was told by friends that the West coast was more lively, hence the decision to break the trip into two parts. Settlers Beach Hotel was our West coast choice and it was unfortunately really disappointing for a number of reasons: 1) The hotel only had a very small strip of beach, which was no more then 20m by 5m. It wasn't particularly nice. 2) Although spacious and probably designed for a family of 4, I was really disappointed that there was no aircon in the living room and no access to TV. 3) Luckily there was aircon in the bedroom but unfortunately it was really weak and inadequate. The West coast is more developed and had a wider choice of expensive restaurants but unfortunately the beaches were disappointing - more light brown sand then white. The South coast was excellent with beautiful beaches (Crane Beach & Bottom Bay were the best) and there is lots to do (e.g. lots of bars and restaurants at St Lawrence Gap).
