This Barbados resort offers 49 guest studios and suites in a five-story white building. Rooms with ground-floor terraces provide glimpses of the Caribbean along a public-park beach across the street, or upper-floor balconies provide limited views of the sea. Studios contain kitchenettes and suites contain kitchens, all fully equipped for cooking and serving meals. Ceiling fans and air conditioning provide cooling alternatives. Telephone data ports offer dial-up Internet access.

All-white rooms have contemporary-tropical decor, including tile floors with woven area rugs, sand-colored rattan and wicker furniture, artificial plants, and blue-and-white tile bathrooms with pedestal sinks, jetted tub/shower combinations, and bathrobes. VCRs and televisions offering U.S. cable channels supply entertainment.

Dining

Fusion, the resort's restaurant, will be closed from May 31 for renovations and will re-open July 8th, 2010.

Recreation

A streetside terrace fronting the resort contains a 33.5-by-3.6 meter (110-by-12-foot) rectangular pool surrounded by an expansive sundeck furnished with lounge chairs. The pool contains a 18.2-meter (60-foot) lap-swimming section in the middle, with a plunge section at one end and a shallow children's section at the other end.

At Rockley Beach Park across the street from the South Beach Hotel, vendors rent kayaks, small sailboats, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, personal watercraft, windsurfers, lounge chairs, and umbrellas. The park also includes a volleyball net.

Barbados Golf Club, which lies 10 km (6.25 miles) away, offers resort guests a discount on green fees.

“Great Value”

Hotel was nice, and kept very clean. Great location along the south coast, and because it wasn't directly on the beach it was an amazing value. Would highly recommend.

south or west coast of barbados the island is small and public buses are good so it doesn't really matter. i am a budget traveller so am not impressed by 5+ stars and all inclusive, although they have their place.

“Very Disappointed”

The pictures and overall positive reviews had me expecting a nice resort. What I got was a glorified motel across the street from a public beach. The surrounding area and restaurants are outrageously expensive, and it seems like every other building is abandoned along the boardwalk. The room itself was very clean, and it is relatively nice compared to the surrounding motels. The rooms all face the ocean, but far enough away that if you are anywhere but the top 2 floors, you probably won't have a nice view. Traffic noise from a major street in front of the hotel is a nuisance, but not as annoying as the outdoor bar music that is directly outside of the rooms. Music blasts until 2am every night I was there.

“Conveniently located”

We were a bit skeptical about not booking an all-inclusive resort but once we arrived at South Beach, those concerns went away. The room was very spacious and well kept. Our room had a great balcony. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Some may think that the pool is "oddly positioned" as it is located in front of the hotel but directly accross the street is Rockley/Accra Beach where beach chairs are available for rent for $5 US. Quayside is a mini mall next door to the hotel which houses a convenience store, souvenir shop, pizza shop, chinese restaurant, coffee shop and a host of other stores. A few blocks to the left of the hotel is a place called Berts (similar to an Applebee's). The taxi stand is across the street, as is the local bus stops. It is very easy to get around from this hotel. The hotel has a shuttle that takes you into Bridgetown on specific days of the week. It's also about a 10 minute ride (25 minute walk if you like to walk) to the St. Lawrence Gap where there are a number of restaurants and bars. Overall we had a fantastic time in Barbados!!!!

Area recommendations

If you want to have something other than fast food or hotel food, go to the St Lawrence Gap. If you are interested in a tour, I suggest the Cool Runnings Catamaran lunch/snorkel cruise. The staff was fun and there was lots of snorkeling time where we were able to see sea turtles, stingrays and various fish.

“we will come back again”

this trip was too short, only 2 days,but the feeling was very good about the island, and the local people, we are living in a island too but this one is a lot diferent than our, i am traveling in all the islands around and this is the first time i look forward to come back again soon, may be the personne you are with is the raison too, but for sure we had a ver very good time together in Barbados.

“beautiful island”

Hotel is clean, friendly, close to restaurants, and a minimart...coffee shop next door, thank goodness.. the beach across the road has a boardwalk, fabulous to walk on and go the restaurants right on the ocean. people are extremely friendly and helpful, never stop smiling.. free internet in the lobby at this time of year. cabs across the street, or buses... really enjoyed our stay...

“Great Hotel”

South Beach was a great value and a great locaton. Staff was friendly and helpful. A nice beach, restaurants, bus stops, and a taxi stand are right there.

Traveler's tip

If taking a taxi back from Bridgetown, make sure the driver knows South Beach Hotel at Rockley. There is a hotel with a similar name that is $10 US more to get to from downtown.

“Very good Hotel,Great Location”

It was an amazing and very enjoyable stay at South beach resort and vaction club. Very good Hotel,clean and comfortable. Rooms are clean spacious and very well equiped. Front desk and all staff in general very helpful,friendly and pleasant. Location of the Hotel is great,easy access to everything. Fantastic beach right across the street, very clean and quiet.

Traveler's tip

Taxi transportation is very expensive as all the time in Barbados,but puplic transportation is always recommended with only $1,50.
