Secluded colonial retreat close to airport

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Tranquility and period decorations in large well proportioned rooms - good food, friendly staff, proximity to airport.
Location: Location is about 10 minutes walk to the beaches, hotels and restaurants, there are historical buildings to see close by in Bridgetown.
A small boutique hotel set in exotic mature gardens. Most rooms are in the garden and have covered terraces that lead to a rock pool which is great for swimming - I managed one length under water to be greeted by a monkey when I surfaced ! They have a young chef who trained in New York, so the standard of presentation and cuisine is excellent. There is a strong artistic and interior design lead influence which will appeal to like minded people.

Great facility. Inhospitable management!!!

Pros: The Location
Cons: The Owners Attitude
Great facility...Poorly run. Owner's attitude and overall hospitality skills leave much to be desired. The service received was ABSOLUTELY not worth the cost of my Stay.

Charming old plantation manor in Bridgetown

Posted Jan 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had to stay in Barbados for two nights on the way back to NA from another island. Sweetfield was a good choice. It is a beautiful and lovingly restored old plantation manor with big rooms and beautiful period furnishings. Sweetfield is a quality B&B with an owner, Captain George, who is welcoming and willing to be your concierge helping you with sightseeing, dining and transportation needs. Sweetfield is located on the edge of Bridgetown and is about a mile from the sea and quite a nice beach. But the immediate neighbourhood is not particularly nice. Guests will generally have a rented car or leave by organized taxi. The grounds and view of the ocean and sunset are lovely with a particularly nice natural style swimming pool with a waterfall and jacuzzi, a great place to enjoy an afternoon or morning. This place has character and personality not available in a hotel, and it evokes a period of Caribbean history that is long gone.

It doesn't get better than this!

If, like us you don't want corporate, impersonal holiday accomodation, this is the perfect place to stay in Barbados. Anni and George are wonderful hosts and everything about Sweetfield makes you feel welcome and comfortable. Breakfast is a true gourmet affair and you will have something different and tasty every day. The rooms are huge and beautifully furnished - few 5* hotels could compete. If you want something a little bit special for your holiday, it doesn't get better than this!
