Much Needed Getaway

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Pros: Staff, Beach, Views
Cons: A better selection on the fish choice as it was the Marlin fish almost everyday. Also floors can be hoovered / swept better.
Location: Location is St James , not too far to the best restaurants The Cliff, Lone Star, Daphines etc which was perfect also Lime Grove down the road.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Ray (watersport staff) who immediately took our bags down the stairs to reception where we were welcomed by a friendly lovely lady Jacqueline, who checked us in efficiently and got us a welcome rum cocktail while we indulged in the beautiful sea scenery (crystal blue waters, birds chirping, sounds of the sea). We were escorted to the room by Winfred?? and the room didn't disappoint (216) very spacious and well air conditioned. There were so many pros at the resort the staff just make the place esp Shellyn (breakfast chef) every request was never an effort, also Fay at reception. There's always something to do i.e watersports which is all included in the deal & the spa Swedish massage was amazing and also included within the deal which was just perfect. The only con which has nothing to do with the hotel is the pestering Jet Skii Guys as they do not leave you alone when you are trying to relax on the beach. Just an fyi for the night time, ask housekeeping to spray the room so as there are no mosquitos to disturb your sleep, happened only once 1st night but all was resolved. Overall hotel is perfect and I will definitely return.

Waves Hotel, Barbados. Genuine Review

Posted Jul 17, 2015
My fiance and I stayed here for 2 weeks. Food was very basic except on Sundays when locals arrived and an effort was made. Staff were generally grumpy and had a couldn't be bothered attitude. Mosquitoes are terrible so bring a good repellant. Rooms were a decent size but look out for damp towels being hung up rather than being replaced with fresh ones. Watch out for being ripped off by everyone!! Oistins is a take-on....Get the local bus to where ever u want to go. Its only $2 each. Holetown more expensive to eat in. Bridgetown mad as is the Reggae bus. V dangerous also! A lot of poverty on the island which is surprising given the tourism in the area and the expense when u are there. Wudnt recommend Waves or Barbados to anyone. Little to see or do on this small extremely expensive island. Obvious government corruption!!

More of nicer hotel than resort-Small but Personal

Posted Jul 15, 2015
Pros: Staff was nice and accommodating.
Location: You have to take a cab to go anywhere.
Originally we somehow booked the European side where there were no American outlets. But they upgraded us to the American side and were super nice. My family had a lot of dietary restrictions so the staff and kitchen were SUPER accommodating and helpful, making us our own meals every day. You can use their water activities which is awesome and the beach is small but nice. This hotel is small but nice. Better for couples rather than family. If you want night life though you do have to go out of the hotel and take a cab.

Thank you for taking the time to provide some feed back of your stay. We are sorry to learn you had a challenge with your bathroom. I am confident we were able to fix for you and it did not detract from your enjoyment of your stay with us. Barbados is a tropical climate and as such, at certain times of the day, and especially as dusk draws in it is good to keep doors to the bedroom closed so as to keep out any un-wanted visitors. Thank you for sharing your comments and feed back, it is very helpful to receive as we use all guest comments and reviews to constantly look at ways we can ensure and enhance guest overall satisfaction and experience while staying wtih us. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to the beautiful Island of Barbados in the not too distant future

We enjoyed our stay.

Posted Jul 7, 2015
Pros: The food and people were great.
Cons: Better scrub down of the showers. Also a clock radio in the rooms wouldn't hurt.
Location: I liked that the Hotel was located where you can just step outside and get a bus or van to make the 20 -30 minute drive into the town area.
We did enjoy our stay at the hotel. Even the kids mentioned to me that they liked it and had fun. The room was big and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The workers were very friendly. A couple of the restaurant workers were very serious but they were all friendly. The food was great. I had two picky eaters with me (my 11 yr old and 14 yr old) and every night they made special dinners at my kid's request. The only minor thing was the shower (BTY it wasn't your usual shower but I did like the style) it looked like a couple spots were missed when scrubbing it down so a little mildew showed. Like I said this was just a little bit so it could have been accidentally missed. The hotel had many events they planned for you, some were even free. Overall it was a nice hotel.

Appalling

Posted Jul 7, 2015
Pros: Absolutely Nothing
Cons: The hotel requires immediate large scale, fundamental renovation. Staff need extensive training in customer service and professionalism.
Location: Too far from south coast activities, literally out in the middle of nowhere.
Why is this being advertised as a luxury hotel ? This in no way can, or should, be recommended as anything other than a hole in the ground. First impressions are terrible, run down, dirty and featureless to name a couple. Reception staff are poorly trained, unprofessional, with little or no regard for respect or manners when dealing with any request. Facilities are poor, dated and of poor repair and presentation. Sun beds are dirty and covered in stains from previous use, not what you want to be laying on whilst trying to get some sun. The beach area is an absolute joke, tiny and dirty, room only for half a dozen sun loungers at best, however you will be repeatedly hounded by the never ending line of resident beach hawkers trying to sell you rubbish or making inappropriate advances at your guests...beware. Food at the restaurant(s) is at best poor, reheated for hours and very low quality, if your all inclusive you will be profoundly disappointed at the minimal choice on offer. Property is split into two buildings separated by a busy road, good luck getting across, something strangely not highlighted in the main description, however the second building is in as bad a state of repair as the main building. Overall an absolutely terrible "Hotel", possibly the worst I have ever stayed at and one that can never be recommended. A disgrace for any holiday provider to have on their recommendation list, you can do far better for half the price elsewhere.

Nice small resort

Posted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: The peacefulness and the kind and attentive staff.
Cons: Nothing, perfect for this type of resort!
Location: Great access to a small beautiful beach as well as a few water sports. Plenty of beach vendors offering different island excursions.
This was my first experience at a smaller boutique resort. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and the staff were all very nice and extremely attentive. The room was clean and quiet. However, I am used to larger resorts with more activities to keep me occupied on site. If looking for simply a nice, quiet getaway with simple access to the beach and a couple small restaurants this is the perfect resort. If looking for larger resort with lots of entertainment throughout the day for folks of all ages I'd say look elsewhere.
