No soap, no tea towels, face cloths, accessories were poor! The noise was wicked from when we arrived, throughout the night.. ( we could not get to sleep without interruptions for TWO nights. Was a horrible Barcelona experience!! - -Check in was horrible !!!! we had to wait nearly an hour to get a response! Would never recommend this apartment. A total rip off!!!!

Worst experience with a booking through hotels.cm
It was worst experience. In the room details, it is mentioned that check in time is between 3 PM to 3 am. However this is not true. We reached to hotel at 1.15 AM and found that the door is locked. We then gave a phone call to Central reception and the receptionist told that care taker has locked the room and went somewhere. It was really scary. We we're in an unknown city and has not had any option. The receptionist aksed us to move to another Apartment of Ainb which was 15 mins away by car. We we're anable to hear recognize the name of the location. We asked receptionist to repeat or spell name of the location. He replied very rudely and told that this is the last time I am saying you location name. Somehow we found the location and checked in. During check-in process also receptionist was not talking properly about our actual booking. He asked us to move back to the colon apartment next morning. While we were moving back to our actually booked hotel, we came to know that reception of that hotel is a bit far from hotel. It's 2 kilometers from hotel. We had to go to reception (falsly called as Central reception) and took key and checked in. It was very small room very different from the photo mention in hotels.com. during night, room is always Skokie smelling cigarettes smoke. I ahve to think 10 times before booking my hotel next time through hotels.com.

Good for under 40yrs. Tough on senors b/c of Check-in at one location and hotel at another location, heavy luggage up and down too many stairs before and after lifts. The caretaker was very gracious and helpful which made our visit more bearable.

Excellent location but poor condition
The staff member at reception was extremely polite and helpful, he spoke excellent English and directed us to the apartment, it is worth noting here that the reception is a five minute walk from the apartment. The entrance hall to the apartment block is lovely, well kept and bright unfortunately this is not the same in the rooms themselves. Our room seemed very tired in appearance, dirty marks on the walls and bedside tables and generally in need of a lick of paint. The whole place smelt overwhelmingly of bleach when we arrived but despite this the bathroom wasn't overly clean, the toilet and sink were fine but the areas around the sink had dust in them and the shower had gunk in the corners from where water had gathered. The shower screen wouldn't close and as a result of this water would spill into the bathroom when showering, it was clear this had been the case for a while because when I tried to pull the shower screen across, i was greeted with black mould. The beds were two small singles on wheels that had been pushed together, this didn't work as a double because the wheels meant that they moved during the night, the mattresses were quite hard but this wasn't a problem for myself or my husband. The positioning of the room was unfortunate as the only window was internal and looked out into the lift doors so we had to keep the blind down and it was very noisy. This place has real potential but just needs a bit more care and attention.

Home away from home
It was perfect for what we needed! It was spacious, had most all the amenities, and was in the perfect location! The only minor thing was checking in at a different building than our stay, but the reception was very welcoming. Loved it and would stay again!

Good Hotel in great location for a Great Price
You cant have it all. This hotel exemplofies that. It has great things, good things and bad things but all in all is great value for your money. The great 1. Location locarion location. Right in the Barrio Gótico. Walking distance to many ibteresting attractions and places to eat. Ex. La rambla, La Merce, Port Vell, Plaça Nova, Plaç Cataluña, Catedral de Barcelona, etc. 2. Price for Barcelona Barrio Gótico is VERY good. Extremely affordable for short or long vacations. The good 1. The room is of decent size, has a kitchen with utensils, fridge, stove and mircrowave. Includes TV, air conditioning, hot water, and hair dryer. 2. The hotel staff is fri3ndly and helpful. If you call and ask they can help you book tours, taxis, airport or train shuttle etc. 3. Private apartments. 4. Very prety decorations. The bad 1. There is no front desk and the office u not located near the aprt-hotel. You will have to arrange for the chek in process and the key to the apart-hotel. 2. After midnight if something occurs, like locking yourselve out of the room, you better have the emergency contact number or you will have to wait untill 9am the other day. 3. It isninfsir to nsme the beds in the bad as they are fair; yet they are not as comfortable as beds could be. 4. No windows in the apartment. This is not a mayor issue but if you forget your alarm clock you might loose track of the real

Great location, not a good stay
We arrived at the apartments and didn't realise we had to check in at the reception that is streets away! This wasn't made clear on the confirmation. We had to walk to the reception (10 minutes) and it was very late at night. After getting the keys we got to the apartment which is very small but habitable for a couple of nights. The location is great however we had half the holiday ruined by the hotel staff who kept calling us throughout the stay to be in the room, change the locks and give us our new key. One night we got back to the apartment to discover a key (that opened the door) sat in the lock! Luckily we don't think anything was stolen or that anyone had been in the room. When we approached the hotel staff at the reception about this they didn't think it was a problem. They give us a free breakfast, which was just a cup of tea and cupcake! We felt so angry and they didn't seem to understand the severity of what they had done. We had no new towels throughout our stay (4 nights) and the handy man didn't clean up the bathroom after he ripped the shower screen of which they hadn't informed us about prior to the work and it wasn't refitted at all. We were not happy but tried not to let it ruin the whole stay!

Central location, clean, friendly staff
I booked at this apartment the night before for a great price. It was a pleasant stay and well worth the price. Sylvia who works at AinB is great! She made sure I had a good stay, gave me tips and directions to the main attractions and made sure the room i had was to my satisfaction. The apartment room was big! It was very clean and tidy and felt like I walking into my own apartment. I would however only recommend this place to young people who want to stay here for a few nights as it's next to a bar so it can get quite noisy at night.

Apartment lacked some facilities
The apartment was a one a room studio with no outside window just tiny aperture to an internal light well. No soap or soap dispensers for bathroom basin or shower. No electric sockets to charge laptop or phones. The apartment is centrally located in the Barri Gothic. The staff at the AinB office on 13 Jaume 1 were very professional, multilingual and well informed.

Very disappointing room without a window !!!
Pros: -good location with short walk to La Rambla, the cathedral, La Boqueria market, Port Vell, Barceloneta beach and so much more. -really strong wifi on second floor room number 5 -adequate kitchen utensils -clean, decent sized room with towels changed every few days Cons: -no external window which means you have no concept of time of day and NO NATURAL LIGHT -our air conditioning unit was very cold which was great but Dr ipped water the whole time (8 nights) -we had a leak from bathroom ceiling for 2 nights -we had to shower in the dark-no light overlooking shower cubicle -extremely narrow kitchen could only fit one person at a time -I requested a double bed but received two twin beds pushed together which my boyfriend and I kept slipping into the crack in the middle -very uncomfortable mattress -no plug sockets near the bed or living area at all so had to charge our phones over the bathroom sink -the lobby area smelt of dirty bins the whole time from the rubbish bags from apartments

This was not too bad until I found out that the cleaners had gone through my things and stole £200 out of my bag. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone as when I went to make a complaint they kept denying that they had stole and accused me of spending the money.

This aparthotel ain´t that, what they present in Expedia. First of all be prepared, that the rooms are not that what you see in pictures. Almost all of the rooms do not have any window and any closet. The bathroom was really smelly because of bad tubing. The provider doesn´t clean the room daily, but once in 3 days. It appear for the exchange of towels as well. I got really disappointed and they had to accommodate me in another place. I find it terrible for the star rating and the price I have paid ( almost the same price of 4 star hotel ). I definitely do not recommend this hotel to anyone, unless you are used to stay in very cheap and dark hostels. Another thing is that I have thought I will receive a real apartment, but they provide a simple room cheap hotel style with small kitchenette.

We had a horrible experience. The room was not at all as it is described in the advert. We booked a luxury apartment and it was a small and dirty room. It was supposed to be 35 sq meters but it was half the size and did not match the pictures. It was advertised as an apartment for 3 adults and a child and we could hardly fit in the room. The service was very poor and the bathroom was not cleaned for all the duration of our stay (4 nights). I would not recommend it to anyone.

Could be great but just good value
Stayed here in the past in the studio which was fine for what we paid. this time we went for the luxury room (front facing 3rd floor) i would say its a few minor snags from the 'Luxury' tag in my eyes. Negatives would be the shower head holder broken, blinds broken and just left in corner rolled up, hair dryer dangerous, no iron or board as per description. Positives were the building and room were spotless so couldn't fault the cleaning, very neutral, comfortable bed and nice soft sheets. Location in my eyes is very good as your just far enough from the Ramblas and the small restaurants on the streett and bars are much better quality and value. if they sorted the small jobs which are quick fixes it would have been 4* all round.. will use again though.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER
Arriving in Barcelona at 7:30 from New York had to wait at 3:00 pm for check-in. Since I could not find the hotel, I asked a neighbor who owns a business. She graciously gave me the phone to call a number that was on the reservation. She also did not know of the existence of these apartments. A woman who answers the phone tells me to go get the keys and do the chek-in a different direction! When I say I'm tired, I traveled hours, arriving at 7:30 and hanging around with the suitcase to wait at 3pm, etc.. I replied that "those are the rules". When I can get to the office to get the keys after asking how to do it (it is several blocks from the apartment), a person in charge denies someone I could have attended the phone and they are all there, no women working with them! ! Unfortunate experience. When finally back and I could leave my bags , take a shower to go out to eat , I found a couple of sweden who were in the street, trying to find the apartment, not knowing that they had to go get the keys elsewhere. And I went with them because they did not speak Spanish and had no idea how to get to the address. The room was on the fourth floor. Upon exiting the elevator, there was a bed and a mattress in a corner and literally falling ceiling. The room was ok. But after this unfortunate arrival I did not want to stay to spend the night there. So I called some friends and asked for shelter for the night. I lost my time and money but thanks to my friends I got my good mood.

This is basically a private apartment with a kitchenette. Myself and my 2 teenage children stayed here. Very clean & comfortable beds. Slight inconvenience since the staff managing the apartment/hotel is about a 10 minute walk from apt/hotel. This is not bad unless you are pulling luggage behind you (& we are very athletic, high energy people). Great location in the Gothic Quarter but noisy at night due to a bar located just underneath the apartment with heavy partying 20-something year-olds. If you want to feel like a local this is great spot, very private. As a stopover before a cruise, a hotel with a front desk would have been more convenient.

Excellent location. Room OK for 1 night stopover.
We had been looking for a good value room for one overnight stay so overall it was exactly what we wanted. We slept well, the street was quiet, air conditioned room, clean and with all basic conveniences. The only downside was check-in was quite a distance away, but as I knew about this before hand it was OK. Found a great garage parking for our car 20 metres away from the apartment block (parking Rodri). Book in advance. Location was great as everything walking distance from apartment.

Bigger issue than expected with no reception in same place. Especially since you only get one key per room. We were there 1 night (and were out the whole day and night). But still, waking up in a room without windows is not pleasant. The rooms are simple, tidy and clean - so no problem there. However, you can hear everything in the room next door and they have. It windows. I couldn't recommend this to anyone really, not even for one night.

We got the 'penthouse' apartment, top floor attic room, really big space with generous sun terrace. The room was fantastic but the room they nearly put us in (lucky escape as they had lost the room keys) was nowhere near as good but still would have been satisfactory for the price we paid. Location is spot on, access to everthing is easy either on foot to Born, Gothic, the Beach and Las Ramblas or it is close to metro stations too. It is also above a number of shops and a couple of really good restaurants. Others have moaned about the noise from the shops and bars below but from the top floor at least this was not a problem at all!

Disappointing stay
The bedding was not changed for the whole 2 weeks we were there, the room was 1/2 cleaned but only the once. The cleaner went off to do something and we came back to find our room open and people outside in the corridor.

The location is great for sightseeing but the location is extremely noisy late at night. The room was not adequately furnished. Of the three chairs in the room two were not suitable to sit in because of the broken metal seat straps and lack of cushions. The cleaning service was inefficient because the cleaner never came to tidy the room before late afternoon. The sheets were supposed to be changed every three days, I stayed there 7 nights and the sheets were never changed and one day the cleaner never came at all. Then again you don't go to Barcelona to stay in the room!

Location was excellent but the room was airless. We found ourselves in a room without a window and despite booking this apartment because it had a fridge, our fridge turned off with along with everything else when we removed our key to lock up when we went out each day. The service was poor as we kept being passed back and forth between the office and the woman who worked on sight to gain enough cups and bowls and a kettle for our breakfast and we never did manage to arrange getting a second key. Extremely disappointed that they struggled to provide the bare basics that we're advertised.

Im not a very picky person, but the appartement shouldn't even be called an apartment, the room was TINY, the kitchen was in the room right next to the bed, there where no windows, and no closet space, we had to live out of our suitcases for a week. They didnt even give proper blankets and the bed was as hard as the floor. The picture provided does not look anything like the actual room. Very dissapoited

The location was excellent and the staff were very obliging and easy to deal with allowing me access to the room early which was much appreciated. The apartment was small (as expected) but with poor ventilation, musty odor and the bed was so hard I may as well have slept on the floor :-(

Pictures are deceitful as rooms are tiny. Our studio had a window facing the stairway/lift (inside the building) rather than a court yard making it very dark and noisy. There was wifi in the building, but the signal was too weak to be useable inside our room. Very central location. Better hotels are available close by, no value for money. Would not stay again.

Cheap place to stay in great location!
This place was an amazing find. The cost of the room was the extremely cheap, and the location was fantastic. The room was extremely clean and well maintained. Appeared to have a brand new shower and updated bathroom amenities. The room was very basic, but was a perfect place to stay for a night or two in Barcelona. The location was in the midst of restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay there again.

Over all it was a disappointment , the air conditioning worked and the hotel was in a good location , we had to wait till 3pm for someone to turn up and let us in. There isn't a reception area and the emergency phone numbers didn't work for us... So if you lost your key u were completely stuck once you actually got one..They didn't have blankets to offers us and the room was very scuffed.. The photo's did not represent the quality of the apartment .. I wouldn't stay there again..

Close to beach, but uncomfortable room.
I did not like that there was nobody on staff. We had to call a phone number to have someone meet us to let us check in. Which of course cost us quite a bit on our cell phone bill. The room was okay, a good size and safe. The beds were the most uncomfortable beds i have ever slept on. Only sheets in the room, no blankets. There was only one drinking glass in the room, so two of us had to share a drink. The room was not as clean as i had hoped, dusty, walls need to be washed. Overall it was a safe room, and in a great location... but i probably would not stay there again.
