Hotel on the outskirts of Barcelona.

Posted Jun 5, 2014
Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. Location.
Cons: Bathroom needs a makeover. Woodwork in room needed painting.
Close to metro and other public transport making it very easy for sightseeing. Near to football ground and shopping centre. Small kitchen with mircowave, fridge and two hobs.

Excellent for family stay

Posted Apr 16, 2014
Pros: Location. Size of rooms. View from window - room 714.
Cons: You can hear the sound of toilets flushing - so ask for a room on top floor.
Location: 10 min walk from Nou Camp football stadium. Husband and son loved the tour.
Stayed here with our 11 year old son. Great room on 7th floor, with views up to hills over looking Barcelona. Very safe neighbourhood, short metro ride on green line from centre. Metro stop less than 5mins walk away. We liked not being right in the centre: metro cheap, clean and easy to use. Room was large, with proper bed for our son. Bed linen and towels changed every day (good quality too). Room was nicely furnished.Having a small kitchenette was very useful. Supermarket just around corner from hotel ( turn right at junction just above hotel) and small petrol station next door for basic supplies. Lots of nice restaurants and cafes near by. Cafe/bakery over road very good and very reasonable,

Quiet location but very close to metro and buses

Posted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: Clean, friendly, quiet. Located away from the crowds but only a short ride to Sagrada Familia. Get a bus/metro map and you can get anywhere from here.
Cons: The bar could stay open a little later and the elevators could be a little quicker.
Location: The Atenea is within walking distance of the Nou Camp stadium (for FC Barcelona). Plenty of shops and restaurants. Bus stops nearby. Taxis about 50m.
We chose this hotel because we knew the tourist centre of Barcelona gets very crowded (and expensive). Located in Les Corts, the Atenea is c200m from the metro station. This is two stops from Sants mainline terminal, which was helpful as we came into town on the train from El Prat airport. We had a standard room, which was plenty big enough. The bed was comfortable and there was a kitchenette. I wouldn't want to be cooking any meals there but it was ok for breakfasts. A maid came in every day and cleaned the room and refreshed the bathroom supplies. They don't clean away the breakfast things, though! The dining room here is fine. We used it once and it was very good value at Euro18 for a 3 course meal with a drink. There are several other restaurants within easy walking distance. We chose to eat out for variety rather than because the hotel wasn't good. The bar closes early (11pm) and we returned one evening at 10.40 looking for a nightcap only to be told the bar was closed already. Location-wise the Atenea is within walking distance of the Nou Camp stadium (for FC Barcelona). All the other sights need the use of the metro, efficient local buses or the Bus Turistic, which stops a 10 minute walk away at the Palau Reial. There is high end shopping nearby (100m) if that's your thing. Overall, the hotel is clean, modern and efficient. I would happily stay there again.

Noise

Posted Feb 22, 2014
I would say 3 stars. If you want a place to relax with a good night to sleep, pray for someone to not flush, sounded like a rocket being off of the land. Wifi too slow, €11.00 for a breakfast is a bit expensive, decoration specially toilet could be improved, sofa beds where the kids slept noise(strings). Close to FC Barcelona (10 min. Walking), metro. If you search a bit more you can find a place a bit cheap and even with a better quality.

The Service in the Hotel was excellent. The rooms large and airy. The food in the hotel Restaurant was to die for. Staff we're very helpful as one of our party was the victim of a pick pocket. Defiantly be back and recommended.

4 Day Family Break in Barcelona

Posted Oct 28, 2013
We were made very welcome on arrival and everything was explained in detail. We were told on arrival that we had been upgraded which was a pleasant addition. The room was nice and clean with a small kitchen and average size bathroom. The location of the hotel was perfect being out of the main centre but a 2 minute walk from the green metro line. There were plenty of amenities in the area. The Nou Camp Barcelona Football stadium was 10-15 minute walk away. We purchased breakfast at the hotel which was priced at 11 euro per adult and 5 euro per under 12 and there was a good selection. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and keen to assist. We are planning a future trip to Barcelona and will be making an effort to use the Atenea on our next visit.

Nice hotel in quiet area off Diagonal

Posted Oct 24, 2013
Pros: Location was good for me, but possibly not for tourists as it is further from the heart of the city.
Cons: Room decor could be freshened up.
Location: N/A
Booked this hotel for a business conference at the nearby Princesa Sofia. Conference hotel was fully booked however this hotel was available and at a very reasonable price. Also, being an ApartHotel, rooms come with a small kitchen which is very handy. Decor was generally very good. My only gripe was that the room safe was not large enough to take a laptop.. There are a number of good restaurants in the area and it is weel served by public transport.
