A very comfortable hotel well situated centrally.

Posted May 20, 2014
Pros: Location in city and comfortable with friendly reception staff.
The hotel is ideal for a city break as it is well situated and access able to open-top bus tours of the city. Breakfasts were good although dining in the evening was limited due to parties occupying the dinning room and were a bit noisy. The bedrooms were comfortable and very clean.

Very well situated, lots of character.

Well situated, close to transport systems and an easy walk to Placa Catalunya, Las Ramblas and Gothic Quarter. Older hotel but with bags of character, magnificent lobby. Friendly, helpful staff. Would stay there again.

Most considerate

We booked this hotel online on short notice when French air traffic controllers strike forced us to rebook flight home from Barcelona. We arrived physically and mentally exhausted. The staff was all most friendly and accommodating and the facilities were excellent. We hope to return.

Tiny room, nice staff

Posted May 14, 2014
Pro's: Staff is very pleasant, friendly, accommodating. Location is well situated with easy walks to many museums, major business, and sight seeing activities. Good restaurants nearby. Con's: Tiny, room, only a few feet on each side of the bed to move around. Bed situated very low to the floor. Room amenities limited, not particularly well styled. Expensive, for what you get.

2 minute walk to Aerobus Terminus!

Posted Apr 28, 2014 on Hotels.com
Perfect for our little trip, easy to get to from the Aerobus, room was very clean and tidy, and location meant we were only a short walk from La Rambla and all that means! We had a great break, and would be more than happy to stay at the Avenida on our next visit to Barcelona. Only it will be for longer next time!

Brilliant location, great to take the kids to.

Posted Apr 23, 2014
Stayed in rooms 157/159 on the first floor, which are adjoining. 2 adults, 2 children 4/5. The only negative we can think of is the lack of DVD player and very limited English speaking TV channels. Not a problem for some, but useful to calm young kids down at the end of a long day. Brilliant black-out curtains so they both managed a siesta. There's so much going on in the evening its a shame if they need to get to bed early. There's a bakery/cafe round the corner for supper. There's a mini bar you can keep milk/snacks in. There are no tea/coffee making facilties. We heard the tap water had a funny taste, but it was fine and the kids drank it no problem. The tube is right outside the front door but is probably just as cheap to get a taxi as children don't travel free on the tube. Taxis were really reasonable, metered and cost about 25 E to/from the airport. The top end of La Rambla is 5 mins easy walk. If you're planning on a trip on the big cable car at Barceloneta, get there before it opens or face a 2 hour wait. The toilet any the beach end is up in the tower so take the kids before you queue. May be wise to start your trip at the hill station, the queue seemed much shorter and there's a loo. Def worth the wait.

Great location, near the heart of town

A little ornate style and somewhat cramped rooms, but the hotel has character, the staff is very nice and helpful, and the location is perfect.
