This apartment has many strong negatives and a few strong positives going for it. The best thing about it is Andrey, the manager's agent--he was unfailingly courteous, helpful, and went out of his way to take care of everything in his power. The apartment was clean. The location is a double-edged sword--close to everything, in a beautiful part of the Gothic quarter. However, the location is right next to several bars, where people carouse until three or four every morning, and the stone walls magnify the sound. We were able to sleep only with the help of large fans to provide a sound screen. Pickpockets are particularly rife in this neighborhood, so you have to beware at all times (though the apartment itself felt quite safe). The air conditioning is patchy, and the maintenance was problematic. For example, one of the beds had multiple broken slats, so my young daughter's mattress fell partly through when she laid down on it the first time. Fortunately, Andrey fixed this the next morning, as he did the broken clothes dryer. All things considered, I would *not* recommend this apartment to a friend.

Hi, Esther, Thanks for your kind comments. This is the Old town, it's a romantic place to stay, but yes, as we always advise our guests, one must watch his belongings, and it's true the streets may get noisy on week-ends. We are happy to inform our guests we have installed double windows to mitigate the sounds from outside. The apartment is on a third floor, with a lift, so it is much quieter now. Sorry the slats of the sofa bed broke... there must be some guests that do not take too much care of it. Kind regards, and apologies for any inconvenience.

I was finally not able to go to Barcelona in november. I was there the previous year, though and I wanted to repeat ! The apartment is fantastically located, so we were able to go to many places on foot. This apartment's main asset are its location, the fact that right in front is another apartment so two families can go together and maintain some intimacy, and a good enough distribution of rooms and beds. Do not expect luxuries, but it is well equipped, and we found out that the recepcionist is a very helpful person, so if something is amiss, you just have to ask him - he'll do his best to help ! They asked us to leave a deposit, which took a few days to get back, told us we could not make any party in the apartment :( - but we understood this, there are people living there... We were warned by the recepcionist to be careful with our belongings while visiting the city (particularly the Ramblas), that the city was safe but for pickpockets, and that was good advice, since on 2 ocasions, we saw an unwanted hand in our backpacks... fortunately there was nothing to steal there. This was really the only drawback and Barcelona is a city that we all enjoyed so much !
