“Excellent 3-Star Hotel”

Very impressed for a hotel with only a 3-star rating. Good helpful staff that speaks English. Location is only a block away from a metro station that is only one stop away from Placa Catalunya, the main center of town. A variety of good small restaurants nearby that include tapas, seafood, Japanese sushi buffet, etc. ...also small places for breakfast of either coffee and a pastry or for a pre-prepared local omelette...all very inexpensive. Purchase the 10-ticket metro/bus deal and the cost is less than one euro per trip...great bargain! Taxi's are just a half block away to take us to Placa Catalunya for the inexpensive Aero bus to the airport, or make a deal with the taxi driver for a direct trip to the airport at a price we found reasonable...the hotel staff can call the taxi over for you.

“Great Location !”

The staff was very helpful, they had our room ready and checked us in right away. The room itself was clean but a little on the small side but that did not matter since we were hardly there. The condition of the room was clean but the bathroom needed a little T.L.C. I would stay there again. The best feature of this hotel was the location. It is very close to "Las Ramblas" street and a couple of the Gaudi buildings on the Pasaige De Gracie street. We felt safe in the area walking around there very late at night.

“Go to Balmes”

Balmes hotel was great! Very close to the Rambla de Catalunya on the Carrer de Mallorca, about ten minutes walk from the Diagonal metro station. The neighborhood is renowned and very elegant. One of the best rated cerveceria in Barcelona is at less than 5 minutes walk. The hotel is wonderful. Rooms are elegant and confortable: I slept very well on that new and hard matress! An internet point is also offered for free. I have been there the week before Christmas so there were not many people and the atmosphere was very nice. Price ridiculous for what they offered. Highly recommended!

“excellent value”

We found the Balmes a great place to stay. The price, the cleanliness, the modern styling, great breakfasts all were top notch. It's not located on a major plaza or on a busy shopping boulevard, which was a plus for us. We like to walk and could get to most major tourist sites within 15 minutes.

“Our home away from home in Barcelona”

We walked almost everywhere from Hotel Balmes! It is in a great location. It is quiet at night, yet close to everything we wanted to see!

“Away from the maddening crowd”

Located at where I would describe as the northern tip of Las Ramblas, the hotel is on a quiet street. This was a much appreciated respite after a an overnight flight from the US. The reception desk staff tend to be on the cold side with little or no interaction upon arrival. The bell hop was very courteous and efficient in taking our luggage to the room. The room, small as is consistant with European hotels, the bed was not very comfortable, but overall the room was very nice and the bathroom beautiful. The pool, is small but is very secluded and is great at the end of a long walk around the city. Overall, this hotel is very good value for money, and the location is ideal.

“Hello Barcelona !!”

Very nice and convenient to Transportation. 4th Floor rear was Street Quiet, but walls were thin. Safe. Great deal for area. Only problem was a Time Change (1 Hr. ahead) We were not notified and not speaking Spanish did not hear or see any notification. Desk said they posted signs, but meetings going on and thought they we related to Lectures. Missed our Day Trip, and were VERY disappointed !! When we inquired about AM Coffee we were offered reduced Breakfast Price. One Computer--Free Desk a bit ALOOF. Bell Boy was much more approachable and helpful.

“3 blocks away from Barcelona's version of 5th Avenue”

The hotel was great. I had a twin bed room with a shower, pretty glass brick wall decor in the room, cable tv, and a tiny personal courtyard on the 7th floor. The location was so perfect. Although getting there via public transportation was unclear (I took a cab after getting off the subway to take me the 7 or so blocks to the hotel), it's a good place. I slept well; the floor was quiet (October). My room was really comfortable and clean. Hard wood floors.
