“Excellent location, can't wait to go back!”
Hotel was in the ideal location for us. We were able to walk to both the beach and Las Ramblas within 10-15 mins. The room was very clean and modern. We were very pleased with the professionalism and assistance of all the hotel staff, throughout our entire stay. The only down side was no wi-fi, but the hotel told us we could cross the street to Cafe Madeira to use their free wi-fi. Excellent price, location, and staff! We'd recommend this hotel to anyone, and hope to return again soon.
“With Some glue, you can have everything”
The hotel is extremely nice and convenient. About a 5 minute walk to Las Ramblas and a 3 minute walk to Barcelonetta area. The rooms are extremely modern and clean. There is free breakfast in the basement, but they dont seem to tell you that. The only bad complaint is you need to pay to use the computers.
“Excellent Hotel experience”
A great central location, just a few blocks from the fun port area and a few blocks from La Rambla. Easy access to public bus and tour bus routes. Starbucks and other coffee houses and restaurants nearby. Modern, clean and comfortable room. No free internet access is the only downside, but only a couple blocks away is a starbucks with internet access available. :-)
“Barcelona Hotel Colonial”
Hotel very centrally located. Within walking distance of Bari Gotic, Las Ramblas, El Born, Picasso Museum, the Old Port. Room was very quiet. Easy access to ATMmachine and a small grocery store and a metro station. Eat breakfast across the street. There are 2 very nice cafes. One serves great spanish omelets which are actually sandwiches with eggplant, or or potatoes or ham. Delicious! Great coffee too and inexpensive.
“Very impressed with the hotel”
Hotel was wonderful. Newly refurbed. Pleasant staff. Nice bar at the back but didn't go there. Nice decor, comfortable rooms, very nice beds. Lucky to get a double bedded room with an extra large bathroom at the back of the hotel so there was no noise at all from the main road. No tea and coffee inroom facilities but that did not bother us as there were plenty of restaurants on the main road serving english breakfasts and hots drinks. Overall Barcelona seems quite expensive for eating out (nice restaurants) comparable to London prices. The weather was perfect, hotel provides useful maps etc. I recommend to buy the T10 train tickets, it gives you 10 single journeys on the metro and you can share the same ticket with a few people. It is cheaper. There is a bus from the airport taking you straight to Placa Catalunya for 6 euros each, we walked 15-20 minutes to the hotel from there with our cases.
“Perfect location, peaceful hotel!”
Absolutely loved the stay in Barcelona. The hotel is perfectly located! The hotel is quiet yet a stones throw away from the hustle and bustle of La Ramblas. Will certainly go back to Barcelona and will stay in the same hotel!
“Shame about the noise from metro”
This hotel is nicely decorated and in an ideal location with easy access to all the major attrctions Jaume metro is a short distance away and las ramblas is within walking distance. The down side was being kept awake by the metro which runs late at weekends the sound vibrated up to the 5th floor where we stayed. Also for a 4 star hotel the towels were shabby and the toiletries were dissapointing
“The good and the Bad”
The location is fantastic! Only a short walk to Las Rambla's in one direction and another short walk to the Marina. Stops for the Bus Tour just up the road, really cant fault the location. However, I certainly wouldn't class Hotel Colonial as a 4* Hotel. The rooms are on the small side and you feel completely on top of your neighbour, no bath, but it's easy and convenient if thats what your after
“you could get better for less”
Great location for the port and beach. Only 10th min walk to the Ramblas. No tea or coffee making facility. The breakfast cost 16 euros, over priced. Reception staff's English is not great. The room was clean and refreshed each day.
“Terrible.”
I travel a lot. I have stayed anywhere from 2 star to old and new 4 star hotels. This did not live up to my expectations at all. First, we were given a handicapped room on the ground floor next to the elevator. Not only did we not have any need for a handicapped room, I feel bad that those who do are forced to stay in this one. The room was small, even for a large city, where maneuvering around the bed for 2 non-wheelchair bound people was difficult. There were NO closets or drawers, NO bathroom shelves or any space to put any toiletries, not even a toilet back. The low quality soaps and shampoos that came with the room had to be put on the floor inorder for us to use the sink. As this room was handicapped, there was no shower door, but a drain in the floor. I have used this kind of shower before, but there was no design to keep the water from covering the entire bathroom floor. The towels were really thin and scratchy, but we mostly had to use them to soak up all the soapy water on the floor, anyway. As far as the other ammenities go that I would hope to expect from a 4 star hotel, I was also disappointed. The guy who checked us in didn't know if breakfast was included with our room. Since it wasn't, it would've been nice if there was at least a coffee maker in the room. There was no free internet access, and the cost was 12 Euros to start, no matter how long you needed it. 4 stars=comfort and great ammenities for me. I could've stayed anywhere for what I got.

Ciutat Vella, Barcelona, Spain: Barcelona's Old Town, the Ciutat Vella takes in the Barri Gòtic and the world-famous promenade of Las Ramblas. The former is the city's medieval core, a maze of atmospheric alleyways clustered around the splendid Gothic Cathedral. Quirky specialist shops and characterful bars and eateries abound. Don't miss the Museu Picasso and the Museu d'Història de la Ciutat, as much for their palatial settings as their content.
