No Sleep for the Weary

Posted Jan 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
I really wanted to like this hotel. It's adorable. The location is good. The staff is nice and friendly. But it was awful. Our room was right in front of the stairs, and we could hear everyone who came and went, as well as everything going on in the lobby. Our room had vinyl floors rather than carpet, so there was no muffling of any noise, either. The carpet that was covered in water stains, which we soon realized were because the open shower has so much pressure the water bounces off the half-wall and floor and under the bathroom door. The street wasn't busy, but you could hear every single person who came and went through the window. We booked a room with a kitchenette. I don't think the person who designed this room has any concept of how to cook a meal. We were provided with 2 plates, 2 forks, 2 knives, a very tiny sauce pan and lid, and 2 glasses. There are 2 burners, which are don't get hot enough to cook, a mini fridge, and a sink (no microwave or oven). There was also an electric kettle, but there isn't a plug near the kitchenette, so we had to put it on a nightstand to plug it in. The only trashcan in the room is in the bathroom, and it's tiny. This room was the largest we encountered in Europe, but it was all empty space. The desk was about 18x24 inches, maybe, and remember that this had to double as our dinner table. There was a "cute" ladder leaning against the wall that we hung some clothes on, and that was it. The room was a huge, dead, space.

Excellent and Funkyn

Posted Dec 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
Astonished at this hotel, it is a hidden gem. Just off the main strip and very conveniently next to a metro stop this is ideally located. The room was immaculate and withthe added bonus of a kitchenette for basic cooking we were very pressed. Thr staff were helpful and friendly and reception was well manned. The bar downstaird was good, resonably priced with great food. I highly recommend this hotel with its funky decor, pristine rooms and great location.
