Very convenient location

Posted Sep 13, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Nothing really
Location: In the Born part of Barcelona and next to Cuitedella Park but withing walking distance of La Rambla and the Bari Gothic.
Functional hotel in a great area of Barcelona--they supply free water which is a boon in a hot city. The room was ok--nothing special but it did the job fine.I asked for a quiet room and got one.

Great hotel in the center of Old Barcelona ..... This is where you want to be if you want to be on the middle of all the action and things to see. Hotel has large fridges on every floor with free water. Make sure to ask for a room with a balcony that overlooks Avenida Princessa ....... Only issue .... No Ice Machine and wi fi SUCKS

Great location

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Excellent location; free water; nice staff
Cons: The wifi is pretty bad in some parts of the hotel and the breakfast is mediocre: few choices of cereal; needs better hot food.
Location: Very close to the Picasso museum; 5 minutes walk to Jaume Metro stop; close to lots of restaurants.
This hotel is very good value. It has an excellent location, nice clean rooms and friendly staff.

Loved the free Wifi and the rooftop patio. I was even able to work from my laptop on the roof while I ate my breakfast.

Nice location and room

Posted May 23, 2014
Pros: nice room clean and location
Cons: front desk help it was ok..not the best had to get info elsewhere on what trains, metros what kind of tickets to buy etc..
Location: google maps is your friend...train location close by..and also the metro is close...
We stayed a 5 days..had a room looking over the street with a little balcony was nice to watch the street life..room was small and clean...free water at the end of the hall but no refer in the room I used the water refer lower shelf to store cold stuff and others did as well with no problem. My friends stayed across town and had good help in finding directions, information etc..this place was not that helpful in buying train passes, how to get there etc..otherwise great location and place would stay there again! Watch out for the taxis going back to the airport..i think the hotel gets a cut when they call the taxi, find one yourself and save the 12 euro surcharge at the end...

Comfortable hotel in prime location

Hotel was just perfect for a few days sightseeing in Barcelona. Conveniently located close to the centre with easy access to the tour bus routes. We very much enjoyed using the roof garden and pool to relax after the long days out. So many excellent restaurants within walking distance it was difficult to choose. Hotel had a clean, fresh feel upon arrival and reception staff were helpful and attentive. Room was fairly small but furnishing was comfortable and modern. We will be coming back for sure.

Exactly what I expected

Posted May 20, 2014
Pros: The hotel was in a perfect location and the staff was professional and helpful. They spoke English and Spanish, so there was no language barrier.
Location: The location is near the La Rambla neighborhood, which is where you want to be if you plan on immersing yourself in the culture
We arrived in Barcelona for the start of our 2-week European vacation. My girlfriend and I were not expecting a lavish hotel with a huge bed and all the amenities. What we got was perfect and delightful. Our room overlooked a small street that led us to exactly where we needed to go either taking a left or a right. The staff spoke great English, so there was no language barrier, and they were helpful in navigating the city and recommending options for restaurants and activities. In addition to this greatly located and quaint hotel, there was a cafe just outside the front door that was small and perfect for our morning cafe and breakfast. It was close to the La Rambla neighborhood, right where you want to be if you are planning on immersing yourself in the culture and enjoying the street life. Would stay here again and again!!

No water, no service in Barcelona

Posted Mar 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
We had a sad stay at Ciutat de Barcelona. The third bed in our triple room was a rollaway positioned one inch from the door and sheeted upside down so the wheels were right by the user's face. Decor is typical Spanish IKEA, clean lines. When we arrived our drain in the bathroom sink was locked closed somehow and we asked that it be fixed while we were at dinner but it was not and when we returned the desk said he had no idea why it wasn't fixed and it was too late to handle so we would have to do without until the next morning. One of us then decided to have a bath but there was no cold water. Front desk again said there was nothing to be done until the next day. The next morning there was no water at all. Front desk said we'd have to wait to shower. When we (finally) left for the day we put the "please service room now`' card on the door and reminded the front desk about the bathroom sink, because no one had come yet. When we returned to prepare for dinner, the sink drain was open but the room had not been serviced. The staff was friendly but ineffectual. We had zero internet coverage in our room. The rooftop deck is lovely but the pool was too dirty to even dip toes in. The location of this hotel is great but we won't choose again.
