Cristal Palace - not so much Cristal or a PalacePosted Jul 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed here for 3 nights, and had a load of problems. The front desk service wasn’t helpful or knowledgeable. During our stay, we didn’t find a single employee who would give us directions without also giving us attitude. All the desk people were rude, and acted like we were wasting their time. After returning to our room one day, we found it had been cleaned and our used towels had been taken, but they hadn’t been replaced. I called down to the desk, and later a cleaner brought up a hairdryer. That was a communication issue, surely, but by the time she came back with towels, the whole process had taken an hour. It’s especially funny because we found out later that night that our hairdryer was broken, and had to have a new one sent up, too. We also assumed that the breakfast buffet was included with our reservation, but the elevator had a post that said the breakfast cost 8 Euro. In the end, we found it was included but we only figured that out by saying “Screw it! We’re going to breakfast and they can charge us if they want.” With so many great places to stay in Barcelona, save yourself the trouble and avoid this one!

We enjoyed staying there. The food was quite good, and the breakfast buffet was fabulous! We would stay here again!

Pros: Beds very comfy
Cons: Everything else
Location: The location was excellent
When we arrived we found reception staff on duty not very welcoming as you would expect. When we got to our room we pulled the curtains to be met by a stone wall, a filthy looking pipe and a ledge filled with cigarette butts, we kept the curtains closed for our five day stay. There was an electric socket hanging out with all wires showing under the television table, toilet roll holder repeatedly fell on the floor. A cover on the end of the bed had a blood stain on and we gave it back to housekeeping, we never got a clean one! On a positive note the beds were very comfortable. We returned to our room at 5.10pm one day, the room hadnt been cleaned, the next day we asked for clean towels, when we returned later, still no clean towels so my husband had to go to reception and complain before we got them. The dining room is in need of a complete redecoration. Breakfast was very average, food was undercooked. One evening we decided to have a drink at the bar, the waiter looked at us and walked off into the dining room, we never got a drink at the bar, there was never anyone at the bar to serve. This hotel is in a very good location but does not warrant 4 stars. They have a lot of young staff working there, seems to be badly managed. Worst hotel we have ever stayed at.

Loved the location. Near the Gaudi Museum, the City Tour stop #16 and great shopping. Soooo convenient! Easy taxi rides too. Loved the local restaurants and tapas bars! Would go back in a heartbeat!

Great location, Comfortable HotelPosted May 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed at another 4 star hotel in the same area our first 5 nights. This Eurostar was way nicer. The beds & pillows were comfortable. We asked for a room not facingtthe street so it was very quiet. Breakfast was good. Location was perfect, walking distance to most sites and block from metro stop.
