“Excellent except...no FREE internet”
Took AVE from Madrid, then Metro to hotel--15-minute walk to hotel and saved LOTS of money. We stayed 5 days of our 5 weeks in Spain (we did the Camino de Santiago)...so we've been staying in hotels, high-end ones (4-stars) as well as cheap 1-star ones all over Spain. Absolutely wonderful hotel! Truly a 4 star hotel. Good staff service. Meals in hotel are EXPENSIVE...but there are lots of affordable meals available outside the hotel and BEST PART is there is a super mercado located ACROSS the hotel! :)
Since we did the Camino, from the hotel, we walked to Catalunya de Las Ramblas (lots of cafes) and all the way to the Marina/Port--easy to do if you are fit or able. Quiet place so you can relax but only a few minutes to the metro and to all the places to see including: Las Ramblas, Marina/Port, Park Guell, Familia Sagrada, etc.
QUIBBLE: please provide FREE internet access, either wired or wireless. As much as we liked the hotel, we would NOT have stayed here if we knew it did not offer free internet access. We would have stayed at another 4-star hotel WITH FREE internet or even a 3-star hotel with FREE internet. (Can you tell I'm not happy with this?) Still, nice hotel and great place to stay...if you never connect to the internet. YES, you can pay for access but really, who does that these days? There are cafes and Starbucks all over Madrid, Barcelona, and Spain that gives FREE internet access.
SUM: We really love Spain and congratulations on winning the World CUP!
