Thanks god I did not listen to all those bad reviews from travel adviser. The hotel was great. Perfect location: a few blocks from Rambla, close to Metro, walkable distance from the Barselonita beach, hundreds of shops and cafe around. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are completely renovated, large, modern with a marvel floor, balcony, quiet AC, and huge bathroom with a bide and magnifying mirror. The only negative thing was that wireless internet worked only in the lobby and TV has only 3 channels.

“nice hotel, although room not big”

We saw some unfavorable comments regarding the hotel and do not expect much from it. The 1st impression is quite good, as the hotel reception desk offers complimentary fruit. The check in is quick. The doorman (looks like a Chinese intern) helped me to carry the suitcase, and is a bit shy that he left without taking the tips. When we entered the room, find it is a little bit small. Yet it's rewarding to find a spacious terrace. We spent good time on it, appreciating the night scenary while drinking beers. The location of the hotel is very convenient, close to Chome metro station, walking distance to many scenary points. We quite like it. There is a small restaurant named Wok to Walk, we bought some fried noodles and the Korean boys are quite friendly.

“Convenient, clean and comfortable”

After reading some recent reviews leading up to booking this Hotel, I wasn't quite sure what was in store for my wife and myself in terms of the accommodation standard and amenties. The stay exceeded our expectations, as the hotel was conveniently located to Las Romblas (the main activity strip), very accessible to the bus routes, and also within very easy walking distance to many affordable restaurants and Tapas bars and a range of boutique shops. The only drawback is that it does not have on site car parking (we drove into Barcelona) and, although we were told by Hotel Reception that there were car parks nearby, we found that those car parks were either full or not interested in taking longer term parking bookings.

“Recommended but with some reservations”

Great location in the gothic quarter - close to shops, restaurants, landmarks etc etc. I walked to everywhere from the hotel - Los Ramblas, the waterfront, and so on. However there were some drawbacks - no internet access in the hotel - had me rushing down the road (400 metres) to Starbucks for overpriced coffee just to access internet for work - I was mixing work and leisure and wouldn't stay in this hotel if you're on pure business. I had a single room and although adequate to my needs, some people may find the smallness of the room a bit claustrophobic, especially as the window looked out to brick walls - a 2 metres x 2 metres light well. Other reviews complained of street noise and I did not have this problem which was once positive of the somewhat pokey position of the room. It was very clean, bed was quite comfortable, bathroom was good - almost as big as the bedroom with a full sized bath. Terrible television reception - if that this important to you, it would be annoying. I didn't eat breakfast in the hotel as it was pricey but there were lots of places to go for meals within walking distance. It was close to the metro. Overall a terrific spot to base oneself if you don't mind a small room and don't need tv or internet. You should firstly note that the spelling of this hotel in Gran Barcino not Borcina as is listed on Expedia etc - can be confusing for the taxi driver.

“Excellent location for most attractions”

Friendly helpful concierge. Rooms facing street noisy unless windows were kept closed.

“Good hotel in a heart of the city”

Although this is a 4 star hotel, something with the foyer ambiance was not apealing. Room was large and comfortable but the window was facing a light shaft. One small eleator for a large hotel, but the staircase was OK for walking downstairs

“Great location, good hotel depending on room”

I will stay here again, but a lot depends on the room. Many of the rooms in the back are quite small and uncomfortable. I had one the first night. I could barely fit and there were no outlets, way to open the window or air. However, the people at the hotel were kind enough to switch me to a room facing the street with no problem. This room was great! Big spacious, Airy and enough plugs to charge all my battery powered items. I loved this room, although it gets a little noisy at times. The people who worked at the hotel were friendly and helpful, although small things could slip (a cord for the phone which had broke was never replaced). Overall I recommend the hotel and will stay again, but request a larger room when reserving.

HOtel room a little small. The bathroom was very nice. Very convenient to catch a taxi.

“Excellent Location”

Excellent location; although can be noisy. Rooms clean but dated. Lack of attention to detail, eg, no plug in bathroom for the bath; phone didn't work; cigarette burn on bed cover; tear in net curtain. Didn't try the restaurant as so much choice on hand. Would stay there again but would request a room at the back of the hotel.

“Not impressed”

Room was noisy from sreet trafic and people shouting in the sreet below until 4 - 5 in the morning. Not pleased that the bar was closed for the duration of our stay. However the staff were very helpful and pleasant.
