Beautiful hotel in a quirky part of townPosted Aug 1, 2015
Pros: The pool is beautiful and you get an incredible view of the streets below.
Location: My daughter and I stayed here and we enjoyed exploring the streets around the hotel. Lots of little galleries and artist studios.
I had an amazing time at this hotel and was sorry to leave.

Very Central as the title of the hotel suggests!Posted Jul 30, 2015
Pros: The staff, great service & the rooftop.
Cons: The front of the hotel needs secondary double glazing - a wider selection of white wines, as a little limited for a five star hotel.
Location: Too much to mention -
Staff & overall service very good - roof top a real winner if the weather is good. We probably could have done with booking restaurants etc a little more in advance, as most recommended were booked same day. Food in the hotel stood up had a nice lunch. Our room was at the front of the hotel the traffic noise was consistently loud throughout the night, so if your booking a room get one facing the courtyard, we could not be bother to move room, but probably should have. If we were going back to Barcelona we would stay at the Grand Central again, but box a bit cleverer with the choice of room.

Lovely hotel! Amazing location :)Posted Jul 27, 2015
We really enjoyed our stay, the hotels location is amazing! Right next to the cathedral and shops and also close to the beach, about a 20 min walk. The staff are all really friendly (and very good looking!) which was great! The pool is gorgeous with great views my only issue would be the lack of space and having to wait for a sun bed. Would definitely visit this hotel again!

Highly recommended hotel in a great locationPosted Jul 14, 2015
Pros: Location. Rooftop pool. Friendly staff.
Cons: A TV with bilingual capability and some English channels.
Grand Hotel Central is in the heart of the historic section of Barcelona. It is literally across the street from Barcelona Cathedral, and a very short walk from the Picasso Museum, La Rambla shopping street, and the Old District. It's hard to imagine a more convenient location for sightseeing. The hotel itself is very new, and very sleek. Rooms are a tad small, though normal by European standards. The ultra-thick windows do a reasonable job of blocking out noise from the busy street that runs in front of the hotel, though if you're a light sleeper you might want to ask for a room at the back. Blackout curtains work dangerously well; we overslept on two consecutive days. There is a formal restaurant and a bar. The latter has a limited number of tapas, as well as an excellent club sandwich. The highlight of the hotel is the rooftop infinity pool. While too small for serious swimmers, it's an excellent way to escape the heat during the day or enjoy the cool of the evening. There are both covered and open areas with comfortable sofas and lounge chairs. The staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful (Spanish service tends to be better at the former than the latter). We'll definitely stay here again.

In Barcelona for a wedding (not my own).Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: See above. Staff had a helpful answer for every problem. Where can i get my hair and nails done quickly? Can you schedule a massage for me immediately
Cons: The Lifts are a little slow and cramped, but that's a minor issue.
Location: The perfect location for the Picasso Museum, The Cathedral de Barcelona, a stop for the On/Off Tour bus, and many terrific shops and restaurants
Hotel provided a private car for an hour's drive to Sitges, where the wedding took place at a remote mountaintop location. Hotel also assisted in the repair of my consort's dress the day of the wedding. The hotel staff, David, Bridget, and others were warm, courteous and extremely professional. Everyone spoke exceptional English. In particular David helped me out with a resolution in my favor on a minor issue involving a double hotel booking through Expedia. The total experience was wonderful!

Amazing Location,Attentive Staff,Lush Hotel! ;-)Posted Jul 13, 2015
Pros: When they got it right they could not do enough for you & nothing was to much trouble but that would be expected really when you pay as much as I did.
Cons: Staff communication & organisation could be better- On arrival and throughout our holiday whenever we had to confirm any trips etc.
Location: So much to do, great nearby Supermarket, amazing patisserie almost opposite and easy access to Jaume 1 Barcelona Metro network to anywhere ie: Beach
Not good initial experience as BA had to change the Aircraft as on take off had to suddenly break very hard. So we all had to go back to Terminal where they advised they would have to get a new plane & had to wait while all the luggage was takan off & put onto new plane they were getting. This would cut into our holiday as arrived much later than we were meant to. However from eventually arriving in lovely Barcelona we had a lovely driver to Hotel, Hotel greeting was amazing from a service point of view, howver reception should have been more informed as took a while there to confirm details of us etc. Eventaully we got taken to our room in the Matrix lift, very dark corridors & our room was minimalist & very clean. We went out almost straight away as had lost time with delay issues, after directed we went to collect our 3 day transport card from main Tourist office which we eventually found in Plaça de Catalunya 17. Weather was very hot so do have comfy shoes & take water. As to food you are spoilt for choice as there are so many good places as all food seems to be of a good standard. We used transport alot to get about to the Beach, Sagrada Familla etc as the Hotel is so perfectly located. Recommend pre booking any trip as did save us queuing especially at the Sagrada Familla which was so busy! Barcelona is an amazing place if not the best place I have been & I have travelled alot. Many Thanks goes to Maria, Abdel,Fede,Eva & all the friendly staff at the Hotel. SKYBAR ;-O
