The property is nicely located walking distance to Barcelona city stores, malls and other attractions. The staff is super nice and helpful. Beds were comfortable. Room was just perfect in terms of value and the time we were there. The only hiccup we encountered was at the time of arrival, there was no front area staff to check us in. It seems that there is no one available before 10 am. We had to do it via email.

Great location.. propular sites in walkable diatance. Staff were helpful until check out day, couldnt get ahold of staff initally for a safe luggage storage place, once contact was made we were asked to leave our bags under a desk in the lobby. Reception is not staffed during houra deacribed on expedia.

However, we have a 24 hours service to provide the guest a canal of communication in case there is any doubt or any problem that needs to be solved. As you mentioned before, a person from our staff talked with you about leaving the luggage in the hotel before check out. In those cases, there will be always a communication with our staff. The location was wonderful! Although, it was a bit difficult to find at first since it was through a large locked door on the city street vs having a typical "hotel entrance". Very clean, helpful staff. Do wish the A/C could have been lowered further, but I think that was more of a European thing vs this particular hotel. Overall, would recommend and would stay here again! :)

This is a great option if you are looking to stay in an affordable and convenient place! Such a great location and the staff was phenomenal. Traveling as a group of young girls to a country where you don’t speak the language can be scary, but this hotel was perfect. Couldn’t recommend it more!

Great last minute find.
It doesn't look like much from outside but it has been all renovated and the room we stayed in was really good. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly.

Great stay, great price!
Great location. Took Aerobus from airpirt; 5.60euro pp to the universitat, 20 min ride, then 3 min walk to hotel. Metro is also at same stop so very convenient. Staff were friendly but a bit of language barrier. We had room 110, basic but spotless and spacious enough. Sheets were super white and towels good quality. Nice bathroom with rainfall shower. We just needed extra towels and was accommodated. Took had a safe, always a plus . No fridge. Very small window in room but was ok as we were just there to sleep. Lots if shops restaurants and cafe near by. Loved being so close to gothic quarter. Receptions kept our luggage secure on check out for evening flight. Great price would definitely return for a short stay.

We loved it here. We had originally booked an AirBnB but unfortunately, when we arrived it was not as described and we had to leave. Thankfully we managed to book in here and the staff were hugely helpful (asking us if we needed them to ring other hotels to cover the first night that they couldn't). They also helped us fix my boyfriends glasses when they broke with some glue they had on hand. The place was clean, well presented and perfectly situated close to food, transport and sightseeing. Overall, a great place with great staff in a great location. I'd definitely stay here again. It's also close to where the bus drops you from the airport! Super handy!

Great location for transit and old town
Signage to find the Hostal is easily missed. The rooms were exceptionally clean...until the last night (of 3) when we killed a solitary cockroach. We explored as far as we could walk (as far as the Sagreda Familia in one direction and Montjuc Magic Fountain in the other, and all points in between) but would have needed a few more days to explore further afield by transit. The price forced us to leave Barcelona for more affordable and less crowded destinations in Spain.

In a good area but the beds were really hard and the door to the bathroom was even on the track so it wouldn't slide open properly. Also this hotel says it has an airport shuttle and that is a lie we had to take the metro on the way there from the airport and a taxi to the airport.

Very clean. Decor was simple yet modern. I'd stay here again for the cleanliness and newness of the hotel. Location close to metro and sites are still within walking distance. Can be a bit tricky to find the street. I could have used a fluffier pillow but that's a personal thing I guess.

The location was great right in the heart of BCN University, and tourist spots, but no elevator, hard when you have 30-40 lbs. luggage. It's on a busy street, so noisy, with a bar or two right below place. The safe box was not anchored down, so they could have walked off with small safe box. Staff was nice.

Lovely room and very clean and looks newly refurbished, not what you think of when you see the name hostal. Private room with private bathroom, our balcony view wasn't the best as it was at the back of the building, but I feel it added to the stay and gave the feel of being a resident. Lovely building it is housed in, up a couple flights of stairs which I wasn't expecting. There are some gorgeous reclaimed details featured in the room. The hostel is not signposted, so make sure you look through the photos to see the entrance. Great rather central location for sightseeing. Best way to get here from the airport is the aerobus or taxi.

Great place and value...it does not have a big fancy entrance or foyer but it adds to the charm of Barcelona and it feels like you are a local who lives in a character apartment building in the centere of the city...and the rooms are very nice...so good! definitely will come back

This "hotel" is disgusting, looks nothing like the photographs, and can't possibly be a three star hotel. I've stayed in backpacker hostels that were more chic. Besides the odor, the dirt, and the entrance that looked like a garage, our check-in experience was terrifying. The man at the desk refused to show us our room until we gave him our passports (but was happy to stare at my chest). When he finally showed us the room, he made lewd insinuations about how we'd want a big bed. I wanted to outside for a moment to think about whether this place would work out, and he refused to let us leave. He attempted to bar the exit with his body, and threatened to cancel our reservation if we left the lobby -- even for five minutes. I honestly felt afraid that I was about to be kidnapped. Hotels.com should remove this "hotel" from their listings.

You can do better
While the staff was helpful and the wifi good you also have to contend with cockroaches, cat hair on the bedding with no known cat on the premises, crumbling ceilings, and very noticeable mattress springs. The door is also not easy to find. If you are wandering the street and you see and unmarked door between a 24hr mercat and a cafe that would be the entrance. Overall, the place is manageable if you can't find anywhere else but in a great city like Barcelona I'm sure you could do better.
