“Amazing hotel & location!”

My wife & I previously stayed at this hotel in 2006. Since we loved it so much, we chose the same hotel for our stay in Sept. 2008. Location, cleanliness, service, and room size (by European standards) are all excellent. The only reason we did not give a perfect score this time is because we did not have hot water for 2 nights out of 12 until almost midnight. We know there was maintenance being done, but at the prices this hotel charges, you cannot expect guests to wait until so late in the night to be able to take a warm/hot shower.

“Superb overall”

The hotel is right on the Rambla and convenient to everything. The concierge service was great and he suggested several very good restaurants. Hotel was clean and very nicely decorated. This hotel had both a heated pool in the spa and a heated pool on the roof, we tried both and they were a great.. The spa also had a sauna and steam room, which was really relaxing in the late afternoon before we went out for the evening. Beautiful rooftop and lobby. Even the breakfast was outstanding although it was expensive so we only did it once. It was a quick walk to the metro and there was a large market on the Rambla within a 3 minute walk, which was really convenient. Overall very luxurious and staff was very helpful.

“Fantastic hotel in trendy area”

Hotel 1898 is by far the best hotel that I've stayed in during my two week stay in Spain. Rooms are clean, spacious (for Europe) and comfortable. Wireless internet was fast and always available. By far the best part of this hotel is the grotto in the basement for a nice relaxing time after a day touring the city. And the rooftop lounge area (seating, pool and bar) is tremendous. Had I stayed at this hotel first, I would have spent my entire two weeks there.

“Best hotel in Barcelona!”

Great hotel, great location, great everything. Best part of the hotel was the indoor Roman pool which is complimentary to all hotel guests. There is also a rooftop pool with a great bar, lounge and perfect for breakfast. The rooftop has views overlooking the city which is spectacular. I can't say enough good things about the hotel. I would never stay anywhere else. Staff were professional and very helpful.

“best in Barcelona”

The 1898 is an elegant hotel in the heart of the city. Beautifully decorated and restored to a grandeur not usually seen today. The rooftop pool was a welcome place from5-7PM before showering and going to dinner. There is a bar and snack service - it was beautiful overlooking the city. What could be better than a cold margarita, a double lounge chair, warm pool and view? Breakfast was a grand buffet with everything you could imagine and more. The entire staff was welcoming charming, helpful and all you could desire -they did for you. Can you tell that we absolutely loved it there?

“Highly recommended”

This was my second visit to this great hotel right on Las Ramblas. Perfect location for exploring Barcelona. Stayed in a Superior room on this visit - hotel rooms are very comfortable with bathrobes, slippers, tea/coffee in all rooms (even the standard rooms). Unfortunately the weather was not great so we couldn't take advantage of the fabulous roof terrace on this occasion. Did use the indoor swimming pool which is great after a day's sightseeing. Highly recommend this hotel.

“Great Hotel and Location, Location, Location.”

Hotel was very nice. A little over priced, but the location could not of been better. Roon service was very fast and great service. The room was hot when we got there and had to call down to the desk as we could not find the thermostat, as it is in a closet. Make sure you bring a flash light with you so that you can see the thermostat in the closet. Maid service was not what we were use to in Las Vegas where we live. We left the room for the day and came back at 3:;00 pm and the room had not been cleaned yet. Called down to the front desk and was told that the maid service worked until 5:00pm and had not made it to our room yet. The location is wonderful, close to everything. Grocery store, open air market, pharmacy, resturants, bars. All and all we liked the hotel, but for what time we spent in it I think the next time we will find one not quite so pricey. What every we needed they were there for us. When we needed a cab caledl one was there in minutes. They helped with all our luggage and gave us great direction and ideas on what to see and do in our 2 days pre crusie

“Superb”

We spent three days there for a birthday celebration visit to Barcelona. Could not have been better. The location is superb and thestaff - particularly the receptionists - were brilliant; they could not have been more friendly and helpful. They even tolerated (and appreciated) my pathetic efforts at speaking the local language. Faultless.

“Very nice hotel”

This is a lovely hotel and ideal for a short break. It is spotlessly clean and the longe and bar is very comfortable. The only downside was that the cleaning staff were very noisy when you wanted a lay in! Highly recommended!

“Awesome hotel!”

This hotel met or exceeded my high expectations in every way! Awesome rooftop and grotto pools. Perfect location and suprisingly quiet if you have a room facing away from La Rambla. It's not cheap, but you get good value and they don't nickle and dime you for every little thing. Highly recommended!
