Very convenient for where I was working (Marina Barcelona 92). Fairly basic but in my view quite adequate. But it seems that most rooms are quite small and don't have a desk or table. I asked whether I could change to a different room, with a desk, which the staff (very helpful) eventually found for me. There is no restaurant (only breakfast available, as far as I know), but there are a variety of restaurants in easy walking distance. I would be happy to stay at this hotel again, but would check availability of a room with a desk before confirming my booking.

No frills, close to the beach.Posted Jul 3, 2013
Pros: Proximity to beach.
Cons: Bathroom amenities, general size of the room.
This was a tiny room, with no furniture besides the bed and one nightstand. Barely anything in the bathroom - a bar of soap (meant to be shared by 2 people) that was literally 3x2 cm. The front desk was okay, but not exceedingly helpful. The biggest advantage of this place was how close it was to the beach. Very, very no-frills. Not a luxury place, but a nice enough one to stay in.

Poor value for moneyPosted Apr 4, 2013
Cons: Cleanliness, disinterested staff, overpriced
I have stayed in hostels which are cleaner, more comfortable and better-equipped than Hotel 54. While the location was handy (I was visiting friends in Barceloneta), the situation on a main road meant I was unable to open the window. Even with the window closed I was kept awake at night by traffic and people in the street. Furthermore, as mentioned in other reviews, the walls are paper-thin. Regarding the room itself, my 'bed' was more like a camping bed, and the room wasn't clean: I didn't feel comfortable taking off my shoes or using the shower. This all would have been bearable had the price been lower, but for EUR145 a night I expect more. Thankfully Expedia were extremely helpful when I decided to check out after one night (I'd originally booked a three night stay). I ended up at the W nearby: almost double the price but my rooms was more than twice as nice (and at least triple the size) plus it has lots more to offer: pool, restaurants, bars, beach, impeccable service.

EhhhhPosted Jan 8, 2013
Pros: Location is good, close to beach
Cons: Staff not too helpful. Guess I expect more for a hotel of this price range
Kind of expensive for what you get. Good location though. The restaurants on the nearby strip totally cater to tourists and are so so at best...

Great Hotel,dodgy cityPosted Aug 18, 2012 on Hotels.com
Great hotel with excellent receptionist. Unfortunately whist in Barcelona we were robbed and the experience at the police station following this was a real eye opener with many other victims of theft queing to be dealt with advise anyone travelling to Barcelona to be extra careful.

Too noisyPosted Oct 7, 2011 on Hotels.com
The location was very noisy and the walls of the rooms were paper thin - could hear conversations of the guests next door. Beds VERY uncomfortable.

Good location - low quality of servicePosted May 12, 2010
Although there was nothing horrible about the hotel (e.g., roaches, theft) I would rather pay more for higher quality of service. Positive Feedback: free wireless, located across the street from the Mediterranean, surrounded by free parking (from 2000-0800) and restaurants, decent sized room, and .5 miles from Las Ramblas street. Negative Feedback: we paid extra for a view which was complet ely blocked by a tree, the bathroom door didn't have an actual doorknob instead it had a knob for a kitchen cabinet which didn't allow you to shut the door and it constantly swung open, we used a glass in the bathroom on the first day that they never took out of the room or replaced, when we ran out of toiletries they didn't replace them so I had to go into the supply closet and get soap and shampoo, it was extremely noisy at night due to street noise and bad insulation between the rooms, the flat screen TV was 19" if that and it was hanging on the wall to the left of the bed making it difficult to see (even though I had Lasik), the temperature control didn't work, the in-room music didn't work, if you opened the balcony door or bathroom window the other would slam shut not allowing you to get ventilation, we asked for a King and got two twin beds pushed together, the bed was uncomfortable, the continental breakfast in the morning was $9 Euros which wasn't worth the price considering what was offered, and none of the hotel bars were open including the rooftop lounge.
