Best location in BarcelonaPosted Jul 21, 2014
You can walk all around the old city without being in the hustle and bustle (and seediness) of Las Ramblas. Worth getting a room with a view of the cathedral. Hotel staff was great. Room is on the small side by American standards but perfectly comfortable for 2.

Location on Cathedral SquarePosted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: As mentioned above, location is what makes this hotel a great choice. The rooms we're also well laid out with room to sit inform of the open balcony.
Location: Located right on cathedral square and the edge of the Barri Gotic. A short walk to the La Rambla.
This was the most enjoyable room of our trip. While you don't spend a lot of time in the room on vacation, the open balcony overlooking the magnificent cathedral, the square full of people and performers, and the bells, made time spent in the room, a memorable part of our trip. We paid the slight increase for a room with a "cathedral view" and it was well worth it. The 4th-6th floors offer the best, unobstructed views. While the rooms could be considered mid-priced in the $200-$250 US during our stay, the bar and restaurant are high end, so breakfast is about $25 US, but other options are very close. The live piano player at night made the price of a beverage worth the premium.

Loved this hotel. Very helpful staff, nice room, very clean, comfortable and the location is perfect. We were in town for a wedding and spent 6 days in the hotel.

Comfortable, relaxing room, cathedral view awesomePosted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: Central historic location, friendly welcoming staff, room quality, direct impressive view of landmark Barcelona Cathedral.
Location: Optimal location in Gothic quarter. Walk to Barcelonetta---- rent bikes, ride along the beach. La Rambla, Place Catalunya, Passeig de Gracia all near
Wonderful stay. Beautiful, clean and comfortable room with Barcelona Cathedral and Place de la Seu view. Relaxing respite despite the business of the plaza. The Cathedral view is worth the extra $ if you can do it. This is a terrific central location in the Gothic quarter from which to head out and tour any point in Barcelona.

Big like!Posted Jul 3, 2014
This is the place where you want to be: great location right in front of the most beautiful Cathedrals of Spain and close to everything, clean rooms, nice and helpful staff. I found the restaurant a bit on the expensive side! I strongly recommend it!

good central locationPosted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: location and clean
Cons: nothing really, you get what you pay for here and maybe a bit more
Location: Very close to the buzzing nightlife of Barcelona, cafes, restaurants, Barcelona culture and only a 25 minute walk to the beach.
Bit sceptical about the name of this hotel, initially thought it was a joke but this place was lovely and ideal for the price. Good location (bit noisy outside though) but it was clean, staff were friendly and the room was comfortable.

Hotel location good but overall needs updating.Posted Jun 22, 2014
Pros: Our room has a decent view of the Cathedral.
Cons: Rooms need paint and updating.
Location: Near the Cathedral and in walking distance to the area where tour buses gather. Long walk to the tours but doable.
When we arrived our room was not ready and we were given few options. We stayed her about ten years ago. Would not stay here again. Would look for more updated property.

Perfect for the Old TownPosted Jun 21, 2014
Pros: The staff were extremely attentive and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious.
Cons: Unfortunately there wasn't tea and coffee facilities in the room which would have been nice as we were on a late flight and got to hotel at midnight.
Hotel Colon is right in the heart of the Old Town with a great view of Barcelona Cathedral. There were many restaurants and cafés right on the doorstep to take advantage of. The Old Town is made up of lots of little streets that are full of charm and character. To get a proper view of Barcelona, you need to take a bus tour. These are really good value for money as you can jump on and off all day and see some amazing parts of the city.
