What a lovely hotel!

Posted Apr 15, 2014
Pros: See above.
Cons: Get a swimming pool!
Location: Barcelona Cathedral is across the courtyard and the Old Town, the Gothic part of Barcelona has to be the prettiest part of the city for me.
The hotel was almost perfect. Had it a swimming pool it would have been perfect. The staff were kind and concerned and I can't think of a bad thing to say about anyone there. Clean, quiet rooms, a terrific location across from the Barcelona Cathedral...a wonderful experience!

Great for a short break

Posted Apr 11, 2014
Pros: Location, staff, our room, efficient lifts, atmosphere of the hotel
Cons: Sealant around the bath looked as though it needed re-doing. Otherwise the bathroom was fine - with a good shower.
Location: Opposite Cathedral, in the city centre, caf├ęs and restaurants in the paved area immediately outside. 2 Metro lines nearby. Airport bus 10 mins walk.
Superb location - close to the cathedral, Old City, City Centre, and transport links. A traditional hotel with great character, not usually found in modern hotels. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Enjoyed the balcony and windows with shutters, giving good ventilation - although air-conditioning is provided. Also enjoyed the gentle sounds of the cathedral clock bells. Room was comfortable, and well furnished - lit wardrobe, safe, chairs etc. WiFi worked fine for our needs.

Great location to everything you would want to be

Posted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: Location
Location: It is close to almost everything you would want to tour. A bus and metro station are close by too
We stayed for 1 week and really liked the location. We found several restaurants on streets behind the hotel that were great and away from the crowds. Staff very friendly, room size was larger than most European rooms, hotel is older but that's part of its charm, linens were clean just needs new carpet in the room we were in.

Great location...great staff

Posted Mar 23, 2014
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Cannot beat the location -- and the facility is fine, with excellent staff. Noisy at night, but windows well soundproofed. Note that the rooms with the view are lovely! However, I like to open the window, so staff kindly relocated me to room overlooking courtyard. No view, but I wanted quiet. Hotel also close to a few restaurants and takeout places,as well as mini-markets to stock the refrig in the room. Hotel breakfast is adequate, but I opted for fruit and yogurt from the market. Nice outdoor seating on the cathedral square, with food and drinks. Great shopping all around. I would stay at this hotel again.

Nice central hotel

Posted Feb 20, 2014
Staying in Barcelona in February can be a very cold experience, but this hotel had excellent heating, so we were warm and toasty every night. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for a city holiday and since it is on a square it was not too noisy.

Home in Barcelona

Posted Feb 8, 2014
Pros: I felt very at home yet at the centre of the Barcelona action !
What a great place to stay and feel at the hub of Barcelona - Hotel Colon. The traditional character of the Hotel is warm and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful. Just step outside onto the Cathedral Square and you will be entertained by musicians and performers of all sorts any time of the day. Friendly cafes and bistros surround the square for you to find something delicious to drink or eat.... And you are within easy walking distance of many sites in the old city. A quick walk down Las Ramblas will bring you to the modern Harbour.

Perfect location.

Great central hotel which was comfortable and clean with delightful staff. The cheaper rooms at the back have no views but are wonderfully quiet. Great to sit in the sunshine outside the hotel by the cathedral, but prices for coffee etc are much higher than bars off of the square.

Central location

Posted Jan 7, 2014
Pros: accessibility
Cons: maybe a coffee or tea maker?
Location: very central to most activities in Barcelona
Across cathedral, convenient location , easy access to restaurants, bars, shops and major attractions. Staff were courteous and helpful. Hotel motif in lobby picturesque and unique.
