Delicious breakfast! Great Hotel in the middle of

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Pros: Bed was comfortable and breakfast had a lot of variety
Cons: Check-in took a bit of time
Location: Las Ramblas, mercado La Boqueria, hop on hop off busses, Cafe La Pedrera (for the BEST capuccino in town)
The staff was very nice, this hotel is a great place to stay in the middle of bcn!

Centrally Located!

Posted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: The central location.
Cons: I think the sheets should have been changed at least once.
Location: Everything is within walking distance: Garcia, Gothic District, Museums, Shops, Buses, Metro etc.
NH Calderon was in the perfect location in Barcelona. The staff was great in answering all of our questions. However, the sheets were not changed the entire week we were there. On the last day we were up early to go to the airport. Usually there is an early continental style breakfast offered for the early risers. There weren't any croissants left and when we asked the waitress if they had any more she rudely said no and walked away.

Excellent location

Loved the hotel and really convenient for nice restaurants and also close to the red and blue bus tour stops. Have been to Barcelona three times now and would definitely stay here over the other hotels. Only fault was the transfer from the airport DO NOT use aero city they are completely unreliable and unprofessional, we had to wait for nearly two hours to be picked up from the airport and when you are only there for the weekend, it really eats in to your time.

Lovely central hotel

Posted Jul 14, 2014
My fiance and I had a great stay at the NH Calderón. Although we could not check in until 3.00 they looked after our luggage while we wondered around the city and grabbed a bite to eat. The room was very clean and spacious with a lovely bathroom and shower. Only downside to the room was a lack of storage space, a very small wardrobe and two small drawers, luckily we were only staying four nights so didn't have a lot of clothes. The rooftop pool was lovely although obviously got quite busy but we managed to find a nice spot to relax. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as 21 euros pp per day seemed excessive. The hotel was in a great central location 5 minute walk to the top of Las ramblas and a 1 min walk to the metro where you can get anywhere! Overall, a lovely stay, would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Grreat hotel, excellent location.

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Location: Alsur cafe for breakfast, Ciudad Comtal for dinner (great tapas).
Very happy with this hotel. Location was great for shopping and sightseeing. Lots of good restaurants close by. Staff very friendly and helpful. Printed all our tickets for train, museums, etc. gave good directions. Breakfast pricey for what you get, but there are many cafés near where you can grab something. Alsur cafe, which is 2-3 blocks away has fabulous scones, French toast.

Perfect hotel for city centre touring

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: The location - absolutely fantastic
Cons: More sun loungers by pool
Location: Too much to explain so just walk out the front door and start to explore - that's it.
Stayed for a week at the NHC - room only - so I cannot comment on meals in the hotel but the room service menu looked v good value - about half what you normally pay. Why eat in when there are more restaurant choices than any other European city and what a choice - go out and eat! The hotel is clean/quiet and tidy. Our basic room was quite small but perfectly fine and all you need anyway; why do people pay so much for a a place to sleep (esp. here in B when you want to be out all day and night anyway? There is bedroom + chair area / an entrance hall way area and large cupboards and a nice marble style bathroom. Nice bar and reception - and a nice outdoor roof top pool plus useful basic gym on the 11th floor (they do need more sun loungers though!! Location is THE USP with this hotel - near top of the the Ramblas (short walk 2 blocks away) / 2 useful Metro stops just round the corner / always cabs outside if your really need one / various nice cafe/bars in tree-lined-boulevard outside (great cocktails - all good - try Piscolabis bar) / a great and cheap nice cafe at end of the block - fresh OJ / lovely coffees / nice pastries and rolls daily - used by locals almost 100%. The blue T1 / T2 Airport buses which set off right outside the airport terminals stop in Placa Catalunya so just a 3 to 4 minute walk to the hotel - no need fro a 40 Euro cab; 5 euro bus fare each is all that's needed. Stay here if you want to get out in Barcelona - if you want costly luxury don't .

A/C

Posted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: A/C
Location: Plaza Catalunya, Las Ramblas, turist attractions, etc.
The fornt desk controls the A/C in the room. SO unless you contact them, your A/C will not cool the room regardless of the settings in the thermostat.

ideally placed - couple of blocks from La Rambla

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: location, staff, facilities
Cons: breakfast a bit on the pricy side - asked for extra pillows - reception staff promised them but they did not arrive
Location: la Rambla 2 blocks away - restaurants - cafes - shops and Goudi La Pedrer apartment block (well worth a visit) within 5 minute walk, hop on/off bus
First stay in Barcelona (3 days) very well placed for seeing the city, friendly helpful staff, roof top swimming pool with great views, small gym and a sauna (you have to tell reception 30 minutes before if you want to use it). Good sized rooms with large comfortable bed - definitely a hotel we will visit again

Great location

Posted Jun 6, 2014
Pros: Our the bathroom door was broken and the toilet water was continuously leaking noise. Not tea and coffee making facilities in room.
I stayed just 1 day in this hotel. Location is great close to Place de Catalunya, 10-12 minutes walk to Old city centre Barcelona and easy access to La Rambla. Nice view from the roof terrace.
