Budget hotel in excellent location.Posted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: Location is brilliant for the price of hotel.
Cons: Update the decor a little.
Location: There is a small supermarket nearby, 2 min walk to bars in all directions and 5 minute walk to Las Ramblas.
Pension Segre was a really great find. It's location is absolutely perfect - in the old town, very close to the beach and port (10 min walk) and Las Ramblas. It is close to cafes, bars and shops and really is the best part of town to stay in. At night it is a little dodgy in some areas, but overall as long as you avoid the drunks and people selling beers on the street then it is fine. The hotel itself felt very safe, as there is a person on the desk 24 hours a day and you hand in your key when you leave, which adds another layer of security. We stayed in a double room with a private bathroom, which was very clean and the sheets and towels were also clean and changed daily. The room was a little 'tired', but if you just need somewhere to rest after a day exploring then it is perfect. I would say that in the height of summer it would be very hot in the room, but in October it was bearable without air conditioning. Even the shared area (bathroom and toilet) looked very clean so wouldn't be a problem if you wanted to pay a little less.

Too loudPosted Jul 20, 2013 on Hotels.com
There was insanely loud construction 100% of the time I was there. Great proximity to lovely things, though.

Great budget hotelPosted Jul 4, 2013
The location cannot be bettered; it makes the hotel fantastic value. The only warning I'd give is to sensitive sleepers since the streets are buzzing day and night. The balcony was a nice treat to have a few drinks on and our room was much bigger than expected. The owner was always very nice and friendly and it felt very safe so 10 out of 10, great hotel

A basic hotel with a good locationPosted May 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
This pension is very, very basic. No soap in the bathroom basic. But, the location is good in that it is not right on any major (read noisy) roads while still being within a 5 minutes walk of metro and sights. There is food right out the door - several decent choices even. The walls are thin as has been mentioned elsewhere, but they are in all the hotels. The day manager speaks fluent English, the night manager just some. The elevator is tiny but it is only one floor up. It is tough to find the first time-we took the Airport express bus to Pl. Espanya and caught a cab from there (E16) but I think going one more stop to Pl. Catalunya and getting the cab from there would have been cheaper.
Budget onlyPosted Oct 11, 2012 on Hotels.com
I appreciate that this place has low rates and is located near the city center. If you are on a strict budget it is not awful. The lack of air conditioning was problematic. No fan. Window only opened halfway, and once opened there is 24hr street noise, which echoes upwards and seems to be louder in the room than on the street - there are people talking outside of bars all night, right up until the street cleaner comes at 6-7am. So it was both hot and noisy. You need to buzz in to the door at ground level and head up, both the door and stairs have substantial trip hazards. Staff spoke little to no English, but were cordial. For some reason they require guests to turn in their room keys when leaving the building, and don't seem to have any real security, the keys just sit on the front desk. My room door was only about 5'9", looked like something from a cellar rather than a proper door, and had a strange bolt lock and a drawer handle to open it. Plus it always took some fiddling to get it locked. In the room, the curtain hangs right over the pillow. Three showers in different places down the hall, cleaned daily, but only one bathroom had a hand soap dispenser, and neither had paper towels or an hand dryer. There weren't any places to put things in the shower, and a tiny towel hook was in the corner opposite the shower, so no chance to get your towel without soaking the floor. Good wi-fi, broken vending machines.
Great place to stay on lads holidayPosted Oct 2, 2012 on Hotels.com
Was good, simple , fast, nice people working there, room could have better view but didn't bothered too much as we just need place to sleep, I would back there.
Good location but Very uncomfortable.Posted Aug 9, 2012 on Hotels.com
Extremely hot, loud and uncomfortable beds. Nice staff but this place will make your time in Barcelona like h.e.l.l. Too many things to see and do in Barcelona to be drenched in your sweat in a bed that makes you roll out of it. Very uncomfortable.
