“mostly disappointed”
This hotel is ideally located in the heart of the Bari Gotic, which in my humble opinion, is the most interesting and historic part of Barcelona, however, we expected more from the hotel staff and the overall condition of the hotel.
The staff was mostly unhelpful, including the General Manager. They reluctantly took requests for dinner reservations, then never made them. When we asked questions regarding walking tours or evening entertainment, they claimed to know nothing.
They were glum, sarcastic and clearly loathed their jobs. I'm sure dealing with an unending stream of tourists is a drag after a while, but answering basic questions with efficiency and courtesy should be the minimum when dealing with the public.
The hotel also had a peculiar, unidentifiable and completely awful smell in the hallways, which smacked you in the face the minute you stepped off the elevator. It also lacked air conditioning that worked consistently. We spent much less money on our hotel in Madrid, but it was much cleaner, smelled really good as it was lightly scented, and ultimately a bargain. It was clean comfortable and the staff were a bit more helpful. I would never ever recommend Petit Palace Boqueria Gaudi hotel to anyone.
